Isaiah 53 is to me one of the most pivotal chapters in all of the Bible. Verses 4 6 especially constitutes the fulcrum upon which the whole Bible is balanced. For in these verses we have the judgement of God and the mercy of God all resting on the righteous servant the prophesied Messiah Jesus Christ. They both describe man 's rebellion against God 's love, and yet God 's ultimate capacity to forgive despite our callous, mindless, and heartless behavior. It is obvious that we all go our own way and do our own thing. It is obvious that we all commit iniquities. Those who deny this are only fooling themselves. And yet, the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53 6 is a stunning verse. There is no way anyone who reads it can continue reading on with out pausing first to reflect on the present and eternal implications of that one verse.
