I had never before applied this passage to anything but the death of a loved one, or the horrors and sad results of living in a fallen world. When my small family and I moved away from close friends, one of them said " I am blessed because Jesus said, blessed are they that mourn. " I asked her if she had lost someone in her family that I hadn 't heard about. She said, I am about to lose you! Could it be that he will comfort loss of any and all kinds. Loss of a friendship? Of a beloved animal? Of an activity or station in life that has or will soon change? That thought was eye opening to me. I have a beautiful strong 23 year old daughter. When she chose to break up with a high school boyfriend, his tender heart was hurt. She mourned for him. "I never want to hurt anyone like that! "When her best friend moved to Hawaii, they mourned. Now another mourning due to fear. Another breakup as one of little faith believes it is more likely that they will not survive a relationship while he attends school from out of state, he decides to remove any relationship strings from her. That way, in a year or so, they won 't have to break up! Really?! Well, I have asked that the Lord God guide her relationships and cause her to grow in a multiplicity of areas in ways that are for her benefit. Lord please use this unhappy time for the good of your little girl, my 'Rosebud '!
