V.22. A man after mine (God's) own heart. Does this statement mean that David thrilled the heart of God more than other righteous people? I used to think so till I read a comment about it. The active subject here might be "man after"; A man who pursued or went after pleasing God. Although David sinned drastically, he became very devoted in going after, / getting back to the things God loves. Referring to Jesus, God said,"This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye Him" ( Matt. 17:2) What better way to please God than to embrace his beloved Son in our lives.
