  • Avrahim Chesterfield on Hebrews 7 - 10 years ago
First of all, as per chapter 7 of Hebrews, we must establish who the writer was writing to. Jewish believers in Yeshua HaMashiach. What does Melchizedek 's name really mean? King of Salem? Where was Salem? Priest of God Most High? Was Melchizedek from the tribe of Levi? What about the tribe of Judah! Abraham blessed Melchizedek, just like a Abraham blessed the LORD in Genesis 18, 3 visitors, 2 angels, and one was Jesus Himself. What does Jesus or Yeshua 's name really mean? Read Jeremiah 23 5 6...the name of Yeshua is 'The Lord our righteousness ' our Lord is also our King, King of Salem, means King of peace, who is the King of peace, Yeshua,, see Isaiah 9 6 7. There is only one who could remain a priest forever, and that is Yeshua. He was the ultimate unblemished Lamb of God sacrifice and His blood was shed once and for all. The Levitical priesthood was not a perfect priesthood, though Jesus was from the tribe of Judah, Genesis 49 10 and because He is our High Priest, He is our one and only Moshiach...who was declared.... "you are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.... " The law could not make anything perfect, it was a shadow of the coming of the Messiah. Does God ever change His mind? No, see Hebrews 7 21... "The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind you are a priest forever....vs 22...because of this oath, Yeshua has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Vs 24 is the clincher.... "but because Yeshua lives for ever, He has a permanent priesthood vs 25 therefore He is able to SAVE COMPLETELY those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them......So, who is Melchizedek? What was His purpose on this earth? What does He really stand for? What can we learn from Hebrew 7? Vs 27.....HE SACRIFICED FOR THEIR SINS ONCE FOR ALL WHEN HE OFFERED HIMSELF......WHO is perfect? Only one and only, Yeshua!
