    I think that David had come to place in his life that he knew that God was his source and that he had to depend on him in times of trouble. God had made a promise to bless David. the bible says that David was man after God 's heart. after David sinned with Bathsheba and God forgave him he was humbled and no longer trusted in his own strength. David was a warrior for the Lord so he fought the battles of Lord but had learned to let the Lord fight his personal battles. so after he prayed and cried out to the Lord he was able to rest in God because he trusted God to protect him.
