Hello Sheila If you read over in Mark 6 14 thru 28 it gives a very clear picture as to why she wanted John the Baptist head chopped off. The reason why Herodias wanted John the Baptist head chopped off is because John the Baptist told King Herod that he should not have married his brothers Phillip wife. He told him that it was not lawful for King Herod to marry Herodias. Herodias quarreled with John the Baptist. She would have had his head cut off but King Herod was afraid of what the people might do. So he put John the Baptist into prison. Then on King Herod birthday when Herodias daughter danced for King Herod, if I can say it like this, his lust got the best of him and he offered Herodias daughter anything she wanted without thinking. The daughter went to the mother and asked the mother what should she ask for and the mother told her the head of John the Baptist. King Herod was very sorrowful but he had given his oath. He had John the Baptist head chopped off.
