Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Hello Jane Doe I would like to add to my other comment that I hope will come out today or tomorrow. On the Day of Pentecost it states in Acts 2 3 4 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance . The word Cloven means divided or split. It was one tongue but split into two parts. On the one side you have a language that when spoken others can understand and know that God is being glorified. For example, I heard a minister say that when the Holy Ghost fell while he was preaching through interpretation to rural Chinese people a woman was filled with the Holy Ghost she spake in English and magnified God. She had never been taught or spoke English in her life. That is what happened on the day of Pentecost this is why they were amazed because the ones that heard them speak knew that those people in the upper room did not speak may languages as they heard that day magnifying God. Then you have the other side of the tongues speaking in a language that no one can interpret unless God gives interpretation. This is a language that is between you and God. This was again spoken of by the prophet Isaiah 33 19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand .
