Hello Tricia We are married under the laws of God and man. You cannot get married without following the laws of this land. The preacher cannot marry you unless he is ordained to marry you. The only way he is ordained is by the statues and laws of that religion and the law of this land. It is set up so that this world will not recognize marriage without following certain rules of this land. I understand what you are saying but this is how they are able to give written letters of divorcement. Moses did it back in the day. In the beginning it was not so. Read over in 1 Corinthians 7 concerning men and women. Read Matthew 5 Matthew 19 and Mark 10. In the end, marriage is an institution in which one should not enter in lightly. It is a commitment between a man and a woman. This is the only type of marriage that God recognizes.
