This is why they got so angry with him because he declared that he was the I AM. Those knowing the Old Testament scriptures knew he was claiming to be God of the Old Testament. They took up stones to cast at him, John 8 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
