    Motgaugrnd, after the Day of Pentecost, in Acts 2, the apostles were filled with the Holy Ghost and the people baptized received the gift of the Holy Ghost, guiding them into all truth. They spoke in many different languages that day, actual human languages for the different peoples present. The purpose? To spread the Gospel. A new way to follow God. The Way through Jesus Christ. Tongue is from the Greek word glossa. When the apostles laid their hands on the new believers in Christ, those believers could cast out demons or speak in different languages. The purpose? To build up the church all over the world. Today we have the Bible translated in hundreds of languages, so everyone can read about Jesus and trust and obey. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
