I believe after we chose evil rather than live in Paradise with God we had to find our own food, and killing and eating an innocent animal was an innovation of the barbarians to feed themselves. In Paradise, food was everywhere without any killing to be done. And when Jesus returns the "Lion WILL lay down with the Lamb " and no more killing will again occur. Cultivating fruits, berries, nuts and vegetables takes love and care. Hunting destroys another living creature which gives evil pleasure. I believe a great deal of the bible, but I think we need to always consider the context in which it was written and by whom. What perspectives were at the time. These were hunters that wrote "God said I can eat the animals too. " Jesus taught us to seek His peace and cause no harm, share love with one another. I believe this extends to all living creatures. After all, Jesus liberated women from inside their homes to follow Him to the hills and streets, which went against the current norm. I measure any writing to the teachings of Jesus. He came to save us all....ALL God 's creatures.
In Genesis 9:3 it is written that: "I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables." But you must never eat any meat that still has the life blood in it. If a wild animal kills a human-being, that animal must die. I hope this answer helps you to better understand. God Bless!
Killing an animal is not a sin, as long as it is killed for food & not for sport or for a trophy. Animals, along with plants have been given to us by God for food. See Gen 9:2, Ex 12; Jn 21:12,13; Acts 10:9-15 are some examples.
