It seems as though many had begun to write of the things of Christ and His life from the eyewitness accounts of others, which probably was as unsuccessful as any other story being retold over and over. The details and arrangement of what had actually occurred were probably foggy at best. Luke takes the pen in hand under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and began to write of those things from first hand experience. Vs. 1 we see Luke bringing together the loose ends and putting all things in order. I believe the others were sincere but the writing of God 's canon of scripture would only be given to certain men, of which Luke was one. It is an interesting fact to note that Luke was a Gentile and as far as we can tell he is the only Gentile who had the liberty of writing any scripture.
