    These are all tribal stories, he only dictates that you shouldn't kill anyone from your own tribe. Wars between tribes weren't considered illegal killings by whoever wrote the bible they were considered glorious etc. It's made quite clear throughout the preceding books that there WERE other gods and that other people could do miracles, pharaoh has his own sorcerers turn their staffs into snakes in exodus. This god is just the god of this tribe and he is the only god they are allowed to worship. That's why he describes himself as jealous and commands moses to kill many other members of the tribe when they worship the other gods.
