First of all, there is no age of accountability being mentioned in this passage. Paul is very clear in his Epistle to the Romans, the foundational doctrine of the early church, that we are all born with the sin of Adam. He does not say that we are born pure and then end up evil after we turn 8 years old. Since God hates sin, hence Jesus Christ's victory on the cross,and we are all born as sinful beings, we are all in need of salvation - even a new born baby. 1st Peter 3:21 makes clear that we are saved through baptism, not by accepting Christ into my heart, where I can domesticate Him.
