    Ancient Jews had a custom: when a baby boy is born, after seven days father puts him on his knees and says: "Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee."
    This quote is from Psalm 2:7.
    All this is for certain but I am not sure if there is a connection with Genesis 50:23.
