With regards to this thread, I must ask for my own clarification, "How is the cross any different?"
We worship the lamb, the cross, etc.
Made by men's hands...
No life or breathe in them...
Not trying to be argumentative; it just always pricks me when I read these scriptures because not only do I believe in devotional studies, but I also believe in keeping the context and reading from Genesis to Revelations.
I don't know if they are forbidden or not but if you pray to them and bow down to them or worship them, THAT is forbidden. Be not like some that bow down and pray to Mary and statues of other graven idols. To God and Jesus only shall thou prayers be.
True Stanjett, Pagans worship their images and even Animals and as you said there are others who have been also been deceived by false teachers so they have been lead to Worship images too. But do we reject them even though some have Polluted what God calls good like Christmas and Easter Remberances. He knows their Hearts and will rescue them Through hearing His Truth shared in Love Rom10 and 11.
Very True Stanjett and it is the same with God's Creation of Animals some Worship them and give them His Glory or put them first in their Hearts including before the needs of others. I have heard said that Butterflies are Magic or they are family Reincarnated. So do we reject God's Creation because of their evil thinking No but as you shared we don't Worship them or put them before God or others.
