    In Romans Chapter 1: 20-25 refers to people depicting God as something he's not. Like in verse 23 it says "they changed the glory of an uncorruptible God into an image made like corruptible to man ..." what that is saying along with the other verses you asked about, is that (man) meaning people of the world took god and made him something he is not.
