    Dear Michael

All people are sinners, our righteousness is like filthy rags compared to God's. That is why we have been given the Blood of Jesus. And since our sins are erased by God (when we repent when we fail) we now look in His eyes as righteous. We are considered as righteous by Him now. So we don't please God with our own righteousness but with that which is given to us by Him (the Blood of Jesus Christ). One has to have this clear in their mind otherwise we will all end up with a guilty conscience, which is wrong So keep your way towards Heaven with joy, Jesus paid the penalty for our dins on the cross so that we have joy here and eternally in Heaven.

Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice"

    GBU.

If all my best is of filthy rags to God and because I'm, all of us are carnal and fall short of the glory of God. How can I feel I ever please him? Seems like every sermonI hear I'm never good when looking at scriptures. Aren't we created for good works? Thessalonians 2, 10 makes this point. I don't want to raise myself above people but I'm trying my best and always hear I'm not good enough.

    Dear Shirley,

This verse points out that "in the ages to come He (God the Father) might show the exceeding riches of His grace in his kindness towards us in Christ Jesus".

I think in eternity we will always have a humble attitude before God as we will understand so much more deeply and thoroughly He loves us and how outstandingly great and precious the sacrifice of Jesus is. We will praise and extol the Lord forever, never seeking any glory for ourselves, but giving all the glory, honor and praise to God
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 2 years ago
    HI Shirley.

Amen to what Brother Chris and Jesse stated.

and for us to fully appreciate the kindness and mercies of God we must understand how condemned we are without the atonement of Christ.

    God bless.

    Ephesians 2

Paul further explains that it was not by our own efforts, in verse 9 when he says "not the results of works, so that no one may boast".

Paul says that salvation has fallen upon them all due to God, because we are like "dead corpses" which cannot do anything unless we are revived by God's grace.

give the answers to why we are saved and who saved us, it was by God through his grace and Christ.

Overall, the Letter to the Ephesians explains what Paul believes is the reason why the people of Ephesus and Asia Minor.

Again the word dead 'nekros' is used to suggest that we cannot save "state of spiritual deadness because of our trespasses

but because God makes us alive (spiritually) through Jesus Christ. Because man does not normally seek

God, said in Romans 3:10-11, it is God who must act first to save us from our sins and trespasses

ourselves because we are like dead corpses who can only be revived by God. Paul says it is God who made

    us 'alive' again.

Paul explains to us how we are raised up with Christ, just like how Jesus rose form the

dead, we are now raised up from our state of spiritual deadness. Paul writes that Christ has "seated us with

him in the heavenly places", meaning although we may be physically alive here on earth, Jesus Christ has

assigned a place spiritually at the right hand of God. Paul explains that being saved is not only a physical

thing but more importantly, we are saved spiritually

with Christ, because this spiritual state we are now in is irreversible, unless_

Paul sums up or completes his teaching of Salvation and how God saves through GRACE.

Paul says that it is by grace we have received faith.

Paul explains how and why we are saved, that is because of grace and our faith.

We need to understand that it is not by our own efforts that we have left that state of spiritual deadness but by the life in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mishael: it is by Faith in Jesus's work, that you are saved.

    Shirley,

I'm not sure that I can add anything to what brother Chris has said.

Ephesians Chapter 2 is a great chapter. When I read it, I find it interesting that verses 1-10 gives us the process of salvation, and Verses 11 through 22 is the purpose of salvation. I break it down into two sections. Something I see in this chapter is that God raises us up and saves us to demonstrate for the world about how rich in grace He is.
  • Chris - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 2 years ago
Hi Shirley. I can see the answer in Ephesians 2:4, "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us". This can be the only reason for God to show us mercy: His great Love by which He loved us. God is the embodiment of Light & Love. As such, all that He is & declares to us, must be the revelation of Himself. When we deserved nothing from Him, when we did everything that defamed His Holy Name, He yet reached out His Hand of Love in giving us His only Begotten Son. 2 Corinthians 6:2, "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation", reminds us that His Mercy is for a short time, desiring that "none should perish but that all should come to repentance" ( 2 Peter 3:9). When that curtain falls, those rejecting God's Mercy have only His Judgement to look forward to ( 2 Peter 3:7).

Bible "cheat sheets" is poorly phrased. The bible is god's word. There is no cheating when it comes to god's word.

I would like to comment on versus 14-16 here the Apostle Paul speaks about the Old Testament, which is also called the Mosaic Law, he first points out the Lord Jesus is our peace, who has made Jew and Gentile one. He also broke down the Old Testament, called the middle wall of partition, separating the Jew from the Gentile. Having abolished, meaning he destroyed the Old Testament, in his flesh, which was the war, or enmity, between Jew and Gentile, even the law of commandments from the O.T. contained in ordinances. In order to make in himself a new man, called a Christian, so making peace. Reconciling both Jew and Gentile unto God, in the body of Christ, by the cross, having slain or killed the Old Testament, which was the enmity, meaning war between those two.

I believe you are correct Enid , Jesus himself said : salvation is of the Jews .
  • Dianne - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
Adam You are correct the first great commandment given in the law applies to all administrations, law prophets Gospels, Church of God, etc. Mathew 22:37-40. It's says with all our minds the word mind is translated intellect that requires Romans 12:2 also in the epistles acting on what we put on it is written. Takes time and determination, but we have the eternal energizer bunny in us Holy spirit to help. One of my favorite thoughts Let go and let God,read in the church epistles how many times that word is used in regards to what to put in mind and what to keep out. Very interesting. God Bless

"speaking evil of the Jews"? What Saith The Scripture?

"To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men." ( Titus 3:2)

I personally believe its wrong to talk down to anyone. Everyone is made in the image of God and just because they are lost and acting evil doesn't mean they will always. I think showing God's love to those who act unlovable is very compelling way to evangelize. People take notice of that if you withold judgement. To other believers in a closed setting I feel its good to call out the truth however, like if someone is saying how awesome a cult religion is that doesn't follow the Bible, I will try to discuss in a respectful manner what the Bible says and how that's different than the other practice.
  • Enid on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
If Christ Jesus came and died for us all torn down the partition between Jews and Gen tiles thus giving us all peace one with another isn't it wrong for us to talk against the Jews especially us that are born again
  • Pastor-Ronnie Williams - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
To Janet, I believe anytime we fill that we have done wrong; bad thoughts, saying something bad about somebody, or anything that would hinder us from getting closer to our Lord, we should repent. If it takes 1 or a thousand times A DAY, that's what we need to do. James 4:17 (Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.) God bless and thanks for writing back.
  • Adam - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
There's many verses that show once-saved-always-saved is an unbiblical idea often used by Christians to feel better about them enjoying committing sin. But all someone needs is one verse to see that the belief contradicts itself- that is the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the holy spirit Matthew 12:31-32. Someone who believes OSAS probably has a hard time with this verse, because it clearly says it's unforgiveable. Unforgiveable means no grace, which means not saved. So, to believe in OSAS someone must believe that Christians either don't have freewill, which isn't possible, because it would contradict other scripture, or that Christians could commit the unforgiveable sin, but somehow don't. They often say, if they do, then they're not 'true Christians'. But then you ask who is a 'true Christian' then- is giving your life to jesus enough? Do you have to go forward on an altar call at church? If you don't ever know who is a 'true Christian' then how can you know if anyone is ever saved? So, quite quickly the OSAS contradicts itself.

The Bible doesn't support OSAS. If someone commits their life to Christ, sins no more as Jesus said, and genuinely follows Jesus, then they are saved by grace and can even have assurance of salvation. But confidence in salvation doesn't mean someone is instantly saved and have a license to sin and have fun in the world, commit mass murder and do whatever and still be saved, as some assume. That behavior is contradictory to the Christian lifestyle. You must give up your life of sin- obey God. Many Christians do turn their back on Jesus and denounce the faith, unfortunately.

Some Christians assume they have a get out of hell pass and can sit back and do whatever feels good. That's from the devil. We are not of this world and are called to be different- a light. Also salvation isn't granted until after judgment day, not during this life as some assume. And no one goes to heaven until they're judged first. Keep the armor of God on and run the race well to the end as Paul said. Remember Jesus's many parables about few making it.

Thank you Pastor I appreciate you response . You mention about repenting but does that mean always remembering every sin. Sometimes you don't remember every single sin that you said or did or in your thoughts life . Or maybe you staying don't forget to repent of your sins each and every day . Please explain / thanks again Pastor
  • Janet - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
Thank you so much for clarifying that for me . I have heard once saved always saved so many times but lately that hasn't felt right in my spirit . Thank you so much for the truth ( the word of God ) on this subject. God Bless

    2 Timothy 3:16-17 KLV

All scripture is to be used since it is inspired of God.

We gather all scripture about subject so we can can fully understand.

    Romans 2:7

    King James Version

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

This verse clearly tell us we seek salvation by "patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:".

This verse plainly destroys the lie of once saved always saved.

    Hebrews 3: 12-14

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

    We can loose our salvation

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

If our hearts are hardened by sin how can we be saved

    14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

We can be saved IF "we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;"

There are of course other scriptures which totally deny the lie once saved always saved.

Chapt is simply an older spelling for chapped. See how your lips 'chap' and crack up when dry. The ground was parched and cracks appeared on the chapped, dry ground.
  • Jared on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
    can u explain Revelation?
  • Pastor-Ronnie Williams - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
To Janet, Sinning without repenting is how you lose your salvation, and yes the Word of God backs this up! Revelation 2:5 (Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.) There is a lot of false prophets that will tell you, no matter what you do once saved always saved, but God said in Ezekial 33:12 (Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.) Read that entire chapter, and listin to the Lord and believe him! God bless.
