  • Shay on Ephesians 2:8 - 9 years ago
We can 't gain salvation on our own, no matter how noble our works are. Salvation is a gift from Jehovah God given to those who put faith in the sin-atoning value of the sacrifice of his Son.

I just spent two weeks at olive viiew hospital in the Los Angeles area and I am schizophrenic. I stood in my own urine for over four days, they figured I was too out of it to notice. I wasn 't. The only thing that comforted me was knowing that wherever I stand. Jesus Christ stands with me. Even when Paul was in prison, he wrote gods word because Christ was in him, and with him. Yes I knew I was standing in my urine but Paul still had Christ in him and because of my salvation I had Christ I 'm me too. Never forget that fact. Because someday it may save your heart,

this of course is referring to Satan the Devil. He is the prince of the power of the air. He broadcasts his attitude to mankind like a tv signal transmits over the airwaves directly to the tv set. the same way he got to Eve. he caused Eve to doubt God. It was all very subtle. He put doubts in her mind.

Yes. Epsesians chapter 2 is telling all saints that we have direct access to God through Jesus. God had informed true beleivers that we are of one spirit with Christ in Him through His holy word teachings and act of faith thriught obedience. God has reminded us that we are no longer strangers to Him because Hos son Jesus openly defeated the enemy through the shedding of His precious blood upon the cross. God has spoken that we all were once walking according to the spirit of darkness as the same one which operates in the children of disobedient today.

Daryll, Thorugh rentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit ? Salvation comes by one placing their failth souly in Jesus Christ and his work and at the moment we do this by faith we are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirt and everyone who receives Jesus Christ, receives the Holy Spirit ! The dispensation of grace the church age does not need to be intangled with the doctrines of baptism or any other sacrement... Everything we need is in the Person of Jesus Christ !
  • Daryll on Ephesians 2 - 9 years ago

  • Vigil on Ephesians 2:14 - 9 years ago
I think he is talking about making believers of Christ one in him. The enmity he speaks of is the one we inherited in the fall when He said there would be enmity. Between God and man. He took an polished that enmity . Those making peace. There was ever ever peace until Christ did this. Jesus made peace removing the enmity.praise God !

  • Dennis on Ephesians 2 - 9 years ago
This Verse show that eternal life with Christ is a gift: one we can not buy or even work for and like a gift all we have to do is reach out and take by faith depending on Christ alone and Christ only- for he died for us all that we might have life more abundantly through Christ Our Lord.
  • Emmanuel, A. on Ephesians 2:8 - 9 years ago

Joni, I totally agree with you, i.e. "...We don 't have a license to sin just because we are in Christ. ... We have to fight like you said and never take our eyes off Jesus. Satan wants us to focus on our past mistakes... " Joni, my present situation is one eagerly searching for the "meat " of God 's Word and understanding how to apply this to my present situation. This appears to be totally different from the "milk " of the Word in that it invites a NEW EXISTENCE. I find learning about Jesus, the Holy Ghost and our Heavenly Father easy compared to bringing myself under the influence of these in a manner that actually changes who I am...This is a daily struggle for me at this time and satan does not leave any stone unturned in his attempts to thwart my efforts, often using myself against myself...Oh how I wish I saw myself clearly as God sees me and I long so much for clarity as to my imaginings and my desires as to whether they be "vain " or "to consume upon my own lusts "....I am so often questioning myself...
  • Joni G on Ephesians 2 - 10 years ago
Motdaugrnd. Your answer to Ron was more complete than mine. I didn 't mean to imply that it was okay to sin and ask for forgiveness. We don 't have a license to sin just because we are in Christ. 40 years ago, when I was a new believer I knew all my sins had been forgiven. I longed for the sincere milk of the Word and grew in Christ. We have to fight like you said and never take our eyes off Jesus. Satan wants us to focus on our past mistakes. God wants us to always repent, ask for forgiveness, live in Christ 's righteousness and rest in Him at the same time. Bible study and prayer is so important because the world, obligations, etc. want to keep us from living for Christ and praising Him.
  • Simon soh on Ephesians 2 - 10 years ago
God is good. God is loving kindness. God is tender mercies. God is full of compassion. God is full of grace. Praise and thank Him for He has given us His begotten Son, Jesus. Peace be to everyone that believe in the name of Jesus and rest in His finished work at the cross.
  • Motdaugrnds on Ephesians 2 - 10 years ago
Ron, God indeed forgives us our sins. This does not mean we are without a sinful nature. This old world continuously invites us to follow the ways of our flesh and sometimes it seems we need to do this just to survive thus, we give into such temptation. It is not an easy road to travel spiritually when living in such a world. However, we can get the strength from God that we need to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and overcome our sinful nature...step by step. God sees our hearts, knows our minds and has already given us the victory thru His Son, Jesus. This does not mean we have nothing to do because He, also, gave us free-will. We make DAILY choices that can strengthen us spiritually or weaken us spiritually. So, in answer to your question, i.e. "If Christ died for all my sins, how many do I have left to repent of? " THOSE WE CONTINUE TO HOLD ONTO.
  • Joe on Ephesians 2:8 - 10 years ago
Faith according to Hebrews 11:1 is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen and Rom.1:17 the just shall live by faith and Rom.12:3 last line God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith and 2Cor.10:15 middle Paul says "when your faith is increased "..... Rom.10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...... now Eph.4:7 but unto every one of us is given Grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ 4:8 wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men..... Rom.12:6 says " having then gifts differing according to the Grace that is given to us, whether prophesy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith. i believe today we are all parts of one body to use our gifts for the edifying of the body of Christ.....
  • Joni G on Ephesians 2 - 10 years ago
Ron, Jesus died for all the sins you will ever do. Otherwise, you would be whisked away to Heaven the moment you were baptized into His death by water immersion. Read the book 1 John. Only 5 chapters. When we sin, we ask God to forgive us and His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We are servants of righteousness not sin and Christ made us free from sin. Romans 5:16-21. I heard once to read 9 verses before a key verse and nine verses after. I think that is a rough estimate. Since we are made free from sin, there should be far more joy than we see in Christians today.
