Exodus Chapter 31 Discussion

Our SAVIOR, GOD the LORD JESUS CHRIST is faithful in all HIS promises. Whatever we need to accomplish HIS work, HE will provide.

    Ephesians 4:

    11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    2 Timothy 3:

    .

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Although the work may be important, there is nothing more important than to spend a "rest time" with the LORD.

As CHRIST always had a time of rest, and prayer with HIS FATHER; let us do the same that we may be restored spiritually, physically as we await the coming of our KING of Glory, the LORD of HOST.

Ps 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

    Numbers 6:

24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Happy New Year, brethren! Our redemption is near.

    Exodus ch. 31

    Continued..

This whole study on the tabernacle reminds me of Ephesians 2:19-22

"Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself, being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows, into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit." (NIV)

All of the specifications God gave for the tabernacle are shadows of what God does in the us, as well as after the pattern of the tabernacle in heaven. Can't wait to get there!

    Exodus, Chapter 31

In this chapter YHWH informs Moses that He has filled certain Israelites with the Spirit of God enabling them to perform the work of fashioning all of the furnishings for the tabernacle and clothing for the priests and curtains. He names two of them, one from the tribe of Judah and one from the tribe of Dan, but He indicates that He has equipped many Israelites with the skills to perform all of the work proscribed with excellency.

Then YHWH tells Moses that these people, whom He has chosen and sanctified, are to keep the seventh day as a day of rest from work. This relates back to Genesis where it says God rested on the seventh day from His work of creating the heavens, the earth, and all that is to inhabit these places.

He warns the Moses that anyone who does not keep the Sabbath holy will die. He also says that this is a covenant between Himself and the people of Israel forever.

By reading this, I understand that the Sabbath rest is for the Israelites. It isn't part of a covenant with any other peoples. It was not part of the decision of the Jerusalem council in Acts for Gentiles to keep the Sabbath.

It was also true that the early Christians met on the first day of the week to worship because it was the day of Jesus' resurrection. Constantine did not change anything that wasn't already practiced for three centuries.

It is good to know that God will equip us for every work He has prepared for us to do. But even more so, that He has filled us with His Holy Spirit, that we may know Him and be sanctified. The Holy Spirit is preparing us for heaven, changing us from glory to glory to become more and more like Jesus in character, mind, and soul. Wonderful!

It's interesting to view the daily earthquakes around the world, in light of Matthew chapter 24.

The frequency and intensity of them are predicted by Jesus. There are volcano maps on another website. You can actually see Texas sized icebergs breaking free from Antarctica. Great is technology so we can see THE END OF ALL THINGS is really approaching.

Can all the Presidents of the world solve rising ocean temperatures REALLY?? It's your tax dollars that will fund their lunacy. If the Bible says it's going to happen...thus Saith the Lord God! Amen.

    2 Peter 3:10

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the ELEMENTS shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

    Malachi 4:1

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day THAT COMETH shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

    Nahum 1:5

The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

    Habakkuk 3

5 Before him went the (pandemics)pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

Prophesy will be fulfilled. Global Warming is a TOOL of Satan to UNITE the nations, to bring forth One World Money System; One World Government; a One World Religion Of Global Warming, UNITES in belief that they can defy what the One And Only God has said, would happen on this earth. THEN THE ANTICHRIST.

Pay attention to this! The news media is in on this secrecy. Do your own digging into money institutions i.e. Forbes, Bitcoin and other similars.

Decide now to go with Jesus.

He modeled baptism as something all believers need to do as a step in their faith walk.

    Jesse Smith,

In Matthew Chapter 3, right before John baptized Jesus, Jesus said in Matthew 3:15, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

So Jesus answered and said to John, allow it to be for now, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered or allowed him. Notice it says becomes "us" to fulfill all righteousness. It is the fulfillment of Exodus 29:4, to fulfill all righteousness! And there are three things that are very interesting about Jesus' coming.

At 30 years of age, that is the age of the priesthood according to Numbers 4:30. The priest had to go through a MIKVEH, a baptism. They had to be baptized from head to toe. The washing or the MIKVEH of the priesthood is in Exodus 29:4.

But, Moses was supposed to do the baptizing! That is interesting because here is John the baptizer standing there and Jesus says this is for "us" to fulfill all righteousness. And so John is stepping in the place of Moses and baptizing Jesus for the priesthood. The anointing of the priesthood is found in Exodus 29:7. They were anointed with oil.

So Jesus was 30 years of age. And in order for Him to officially, according to the law, enter into His priesthood according to the Jews, He would have to be baptized.

why did Jesus have to be baptised??

This has been a very brief explanation as there's much that could be said, but I hope that the message from God to us is clear to you & please feel free if you require further information. And yes, the Church does not practise animal sacrifice today & never will, because God provided His Own Sacrifice that fully met His demands & penalty that was against us. This was a once only Sacrifice & for all who come to Him by faith in Jesus.
  • Chris - In Reply on Exodus 31 - 4 years ago
    Page 2.

The blood of the animal was spilt & applied for man's sake, but the flesh of the animal was later consumed by those officiating in the Tabernacle as food. So by doing this, were the people forgiven & free from their sin against God? No - the sacrifices only temporarily covered their sin & hid God's Anger, as long as the people repented for their sins & sacrifice was being made. But this system could not go on forever as God had planned that a once-only permanent sacrifice would be made that would be acceptable to Him. Why couldn't God do this in the first place? Well, His people, Israel, had to first learn what sin was & how reprehensible sin was to a Holy God. The Laws that they couldn't fully obey were to show them their sinfulness & utter reliance upon God Who could still forgive them through sacrifice.

But the time had come for God's Own Sacrifice to come to Earth to be the only acceptable & permanent Sacrifice. And this Sacrifice would completely do away with those temporary animal sacrifices. So God provided His Son, called Jesus Christ, to give His Life for mankind's sins (both for the Jew & the Gentile): John 3:16. Jesus' death on the Cross provided the way for mankind to come back to God - not by sacrifice or any self-effort, but only by believing in Jesus' death & resurrection from the grave & by putting his faith in God to accomplish it on his behalf. So again, a blood sacrifice was required as it showed "a life being given for another life". What we couldn't do because we're filthy sinners, Jesus Christ the spotless Lamb from God was able to do for us & God accepted it by raising Jesus from the dead. So all who put their faith in Jesus are 'justified' by God: i.e. declared no longer guilty & made righteous before Him.
  • Chris - In Reply on Exodus 31 - 4 years ago
Daniel, even though this act of killing animals for sacrifices sounds horrible & detestable, it was something that was required by God for His people, Israel. To explain this further:

Ever since mankind was put on the Earth & they chose to do wrong & disobey God, their Creator, they were under the sentence of death; death was both a physical & spiritual death. See Genesis chapter 3 for the account of Adam & Eve & also Ezekiel 18:4: "the soul that sinneth, it shall die." Just as we have to pay the penalty for our wrongs before civil courts, so to the Just God requires that we pay the penalty for our lives of sin & disobedience to Him.

But if God fulfilled His demands, none of us would be alive for long & we would be consigned to Hell for our sins. But this God of Justice is also a God of Love (just as a good parent meets out both love & discipline to the child), & God wanted to give mankind another way to be forgiven & acceptable to Him. So when God had called out a people especially to separate them from the world that was given over to idolatry & wickedness & to put His Name on them, He picked a people out of captivity in Egypt to be His very Own: blessed by Him, God dwelling with them, guiding them & protecting them. But they were still human & still did wrong before God. So God gave them His Laws to abide by & also a sacrificial system whereby whenever they sinned & broke His Laws, a system was in place that would temporarily cover those sins thereby averting God's Anger & Judgement against them. And this involved the sacrifice of various types of animals.

Why the death of animals? Hebrews 9:22 says "without the shedding of blood there is no remission (of sins)". It had to be blood for blood. Rather than the sinner losing his life for his sin, God in love required that a pure, spotless animal would be sacrificed in the sinner's stead. When this was done by the High Priest, God accepted it as a substitutionary payment on behalf of man.

EXODUS 29, What dose the killing of Animals have to do with God. This makes no sense to do this horrible act. I have never heard of any such act committed in the name God within my lifetime. Why are they not doing this today in churches, if this chapter demands it must be done!

I had struggled with this one Commandment for several years and have studied into this subject deeply. Ann is correct in referring to Sunday worship as being pagan. I have listened also to many Scholars / Professors debating this subject and it is believed that Satan will trap the majority of people into 'wondering after the beast' (which is symbolic in that we will all follow and give praise to Satan rather than Jesus Christ, by worshiping on the Sunday, and we will not realize what is happening until it is too late. The 7th day Sabbath is Saturday which was sanctified Holy by God. This is the true 4th Commandment and the only Commandment that is emphasized with the word REMEMBER to keep my Sabbath Holy - no other days in the 10 Commandments except Saturday, were sanctified as Holy, and it does not matter that the calendar may have changed over the years, it is the fact that Saturday is important. Also it is important to remember that if one Conmandments is broken, it is like breaking all Commandments. Also God refers to the 'children of Israel' as all brethren who have 'overcome' and been baptized into, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Hope this helps.

The Lords day is Sunday. Most Christens worship on Sunday because that is the day Jesus rose from the dead. The Sabbath is Saturday. Most Jews worship on this day because they are still waiting on Christ which have already come but they rejected him.

"It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." The LORD puts a difference between His people and the rest of the world; and the holy things which are for signs between Him and His people are not for any stranger to meddle in. As we let our light shine before all, yet we are hidden.

  • Ann on Exodus 31 - 8 years ago
The Sabbath is Saturday, the last day of the week of the Jewish calendar, and begins on Friday at sundown and goes until Saturday at sundown. The worship on Sunday began as a pagan day of worship of the sun god-Baal. The Roman church picked Sun-Day as the day of worship to appeal to what the pagans were already doing on the day set aside to worship the sun-Baal.
  • Vernon Tart on Exodus 31 - 8 years ago
    Hey Brenda,
Jesus Christ clearly said "If you love me keep my commandments." As well as, he was here to fulfill the law not destroy it. We should Keep the Sabbath Holy (Saturday)
Sunday is only kept because the Roman Empire merged all faiths into their system to keep the peace. Since the Roman Catholic Church is the Roman Empire they changed the holy day to "SUN" day. Against God's will.
  • Jackie on Exodus 31 - 8 years ago
In my research I've found that the Romans, during this time, made it a law that "everybody" would worship on Sunday only and anybody caught or if it was rumored that anybody was worshiping on the Sabbath, which the Romans knew was known to be a holy day for Jews and Hebrews, were put to death in public to instill fear to others. The Romans were very brutal, violent and controlling.
  • Brenda on Exodus 31 - 8 years ago
Why does everyone think that it is ok to ignore the Sabbath Day, but keep the other commandments?
If the Sabbath Day was nailed to the cross; then why not murder, theft, adultery, etc...?
If the Lord said: "Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy." There must be something to this.
I read that Sunday, is a pagan day set aside for the sun god. (sun day)

  • Martha Prince on Exodus 31 - 9 years ago
Dewey...this is my last comment to you concerning the Sabbath. Yes, we are under a new covenant because we are no longer under the law of Moses. Christ fulfilled the law when He was crucified. However, the ten commandment law was not Moses 's law but was written with the finger of the Most High God! Why is it okay to break one of the commandments and not all? Is it okay to worship other gods, to commit adultery, dishonor out parents, to kill or to steal? Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy was evidently just as important to God as the other commandments. Who is man no matter who that man is to decide it is okay to change God 's Sabbath?
  • Dewey J on Exodus 31 - 9 years ago
Martha Prince, for the sake of argument God did rest but not as we rest from getting tried. He set the Sabbath apart for his creation mankind to worship and honor him but also for the sake of mankind also Mk. 2:27. As for to the issue of us not seeing every thing God condone in the Scripture Jn. Said if all the things that Jesus did even the world would itself could not contain just the things Jesus Christ did in his public ministry which lasted a little over three years. The next thing we must consider is who 's calendar is being used here. 1 Cor.11:25, 26 says, "In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new Covenant in my blood do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. V26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord 's death until he comes. 11 Cor. 3:6 says, "He has made us competent ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life ". We are now under a new covenant of grace and truth by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
  • Martha Prince on Exodus 31 - 9 years ago
Dewey...I understand God is God and does not need to rest but God did rest He rested on the seventh day. I also know Jesus said in Matthew 2:27 the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. My point is this God Himself clearly set aside the seventh day as far back as creation. I find no where in the scriptures that God Himself changed the seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week.
  • Dewey J on Exodus 31 - 9 years ago
Martha Prince, easily nothing existed on this earth before God created everything in six days Some people don 't believe in creation as actually six of our days, but I do. And God rested on the Sabbath day and hallowed it but he knew the future uses he would make of the sabbath for mankind. God does not get exhausted therefore he did not actually need to rest . God truly finished creating all he would create. Jesus Christ-who is God in the flesh or Son of God-said, I repeat in Mark 2:27 " the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath ". God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
