As a final sidenote; Mescesh and Tubal have been ascribed as Moscow and another Russian city with the name of the second reference. It depends who you talk to in that regard; the point I would state is that DESCENDANTS with those names generally went to certain regions as well as specific cities. It seems that Russia leads the invasion along with a league of others; and that specifically indicates their alliance now with Turkey as well as Iran. Syria certainly is involved as well at least with present alliances; and if we look at recent history the Orthodox church is a common denominator as well which ties these nations together. It seems Isaiah 17 could happen in the Psalm 83 event and/or previous to the Ezekiel 38 event and could be caused by an Israeli strike. Time will tell.

    Laura,

Gog is the word that the Jews use for all people who are the enemies of Israel.

All people who are the enemies of Israel are called Gog.

This is all taken from imagery in Ezekiel Chapters 38 and 39. In that picture, the kings of the east will come through the dried up Euphrates River and attack God's people.

Magog is the god, or idol of Gog.

During our study (Sunday school) we've come to the conclusion that because of location it's Russia.
  • Laura Vitola on Ezekiel 39 - 1 year ago
Who is Gog? Russia or Turkey?
  • Adam - In Reply on Ezekiel 39:25 - 2 years ago
Maybe you mean verse 9? It says bows, arrows, spears, etc. Seems more primitive than nukes to me.
  • Rachel on Ezekiel 39:25 - 2 years ago
Ezekiel 39:25- 7 years of weapons burning- could this be Nuclear weapons?
  • Susan Paz on Ezekiel 39:25 - 3 years ago
I look at the 7 years of burning weapons, and it seems to fit best with the 7 years of the tribulation. So I wonder if this war happens right before the tribulation. John might have been describing modern weapons in the vocabulary of his day. Certainly no ancient weapons would burn for 7 years to provide fuel for the nation. Israel's stunning victory could lead to a treaty which allows the Jews to build their temple, from which the two witnesses preach and which is defiled at the midpoint.
  • Jerry on Ezekiel 39 - 3 years ago
Early in this chapter it refers to bows and arrows for weapons and further it says Israel will burn the weapons for 7 years. I am confused considering that today the weaponry is far from those weapons. Can you explain this for me?
  • Alexa on Ezekiel 39:25 - 3 years ago
Israel is not in their land. Our fathers have inherited lies. True Israel is still scattered. Wake up people! True Israel is awakening! Shalom!

    Does anyone have input?

I'm reflecting USA Current Events of the perceived fraudulence now unfolding from our 2020 US Presidential Election and reading Ezekiel.

No brother, Ezekiel 36 and 37 deal with the restoration of the people and land of Israel. In 1948 after world war 2 Israel came back into national status fulfilling Bible prophecy. Ezekiel 38 and 39 deal with the first major advent of the 7 year tribulation period Daniels 70th week chap. 9 Ezekiel 39:9,10 Israel will have enough fuel from that military machine that came against them to last 7 yrs
  • Ian lindner on Ezekiel 39 - 4 years ago
This chapter is regarding the end of the tribulation beginning of the millennium. Chapter 38 outlines the final event at the END of the Millennium. Read chapter 38 verse 11 no walls, bars or gates. This will not happen till Jesus rules with rod of iron. chapter 39 is Armageddon day of the lord and beginning of millennium. read them in that light and all the pieces will fit.
  • Stanjett on Ezekiel 39 - 5 years ago
After WW2 many Jews returned to Israel in 1948 and after. But not to peace. They have had wars and fightings since.

"And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward." Contrary what some false prophets and pretenders say; in the day the Lord makes Himself known to His Brethren; THEY WILL ALL KNOW THAT HIS NAME IS JESUS!

There are two feasts in Ezekiel 39 on the dead bodies. The first is on Gog's army, in Ezekiel 39:4. Then the cleanup of the land, and followed by 7 years.

The 7 years are the 70th week of Daniel 9, which ends with the Jesus's return and his judgement on those armies gathered together to fight him, Rev 19:19.

That Armageddon feast is in Ezekiel 39:17-20.

to Sparker: I used to think that Ez 38,39 and Re 20:8,9 were the same however there are too many differences; such as all the world (4 quarters) attack Jerusalem whereas in EZ it is the north, south and east that attack. The west (Tarshish) will not be involved. Also it will takes 7 yrs to burn all the weapons and the judgment from God is sudden and then the GW throne occurs, not enough time.
  • SParker on Ezekiel 39 - 8 years ago
If this war occurs at the end of the thousand years, it would explain the unwalled villages. Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Russia is the bear which will try to defeat Israel which will never be despite Israel
rejection of the messiah. repent and bow to the lord Jesus Christ for salvation
    before it is too late.
  • James Wood on Ezekiel 39 - 9 years ago
What the most of the Christian world does not understand, is the House of Israel or Zion in the latter days, is the great nation re-gathered from the lost tribes of Israel. This great nation is the colonies of the United States. Only two tribes returned to old Israel - Judah and Levi. So that is why both the US and Israel are the targets of Gog and his allies - including Persia which is Iran. We very well could see the armies of these nations fall on our soil according to God's doing as beautifully described in this chapter. It is coming soon
  • Gary Davis on Ezekiel 39 - 9 years ago
Ezekiel speaks of Israel having unwalled villages and no fences. This is currently not the case. It shall, however, come to pass before the time prophesied -- and the LORD 's prophecies NEVER fail! Therefore, something will occur that allows Israel to be at peace before this time. I doubt that it will be the Antichrist 's seven-year treaty, but the events of chapters 38 39 may cause his coming to the fore, and his enforced Treaty on the region though named Islamic nations, and Russia, shall be in no position to threaten Israel following this -- in fact, I believe that this spells the end of Islam as a major force in the world -- but other nations may still harbour real resentment about Israel, and the wealth that she has at this future date . I therefore suspect Israel shall acknowledge the LORD, but later come to believe either that God will let them do whatever they please, and or misidentify Antichrist as the Messiah.

ACCORDING TO THIS CHAPTER YISRAEL SHOULDNT HAVE NO FENCES OR WALLS, BUT THEY DO HAVE FENCES AND WALLS. SOMETHING ISNT ADDING UP HERE, MAYBE THERE IS SOME IDENTITY THEFT GOING ON. STUDY PEOPLE TO GET THE WHOLE PICTURE. SHALOM

Ezekiel 38 38 go together, their prophetic and after the Pre Trib Rapture of the grace of Age Church. The 21 judgments between Revelation 6 16 17 are met for the Nation of Israeli, to turn them to God. I do not agree that verse 8 is one of the 43 Pre trib Rapture verses or passages in the Bible, I could be wrong however.
  • Pamela D. on Ezekiel 39:8 - 10 years ago
I believe this is also a reference to the rapture. The enemies of God will be defeated in the Gog Magog war leading to the war of Armageddon.Jesus said He is coming quickly

Please not that first impression speak mountains even if not accurate. Your opening paragraph states:

Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captiuitie among the heathen: but I haue gathered them vnto their owne land, and haue left none of them any more there.

    led into captivity; not captiuitie
their own land; not owne land

  • Mary on Ezekiel 39:2 - 11 years ago
No one knows the day or the hour when our Lord will return. However, if Ezekiel 39:2 has not been fulfilled in the past we know for a certainty that it will indeed happen. With the current activity in the middle east and the involvement of Russia one has to conclude that a war against Israel could happen within the next few years. Iranian nuclear capability and their hatred of the Jews only intensify the odds that it will happen sooner rather than later. By the way if anyone should care I believe that people are predestined to salvation. I agree with John Calvin in this matter. We are totally dependent on the grace and mercy of God in our calling. We can do nothing on our own to get ourselves saved because Christ did and does all the work of it. The person whoever they are were predestined to salvation before the foundation of the earth. God bless His elect people.
  • Bradley Harwood on Ezekiel 39:25 - 11 years ago
The Lord Thy God is loving, compassionate and merciful towards Jacob and the children of Israel and will pour out His Spirit on the house of Israel.
