I will comment on versus 19-21; we are warned by the Apostle Paul in these versus that if Christians live an ungodly lifestyle, they will not inherit the kingdom of God. In order to understand the warning we must first understand the difference between entering the first dispensation of the kingdom of God, and inheriting the second dispensation of the kingdom of God. All Christians, upon being born again enter the kingdom of God, as in John 3:5 & Colossians 1:13 The Lord Jesus taught during this first dispensation of the kingdom of God, it is within the heart of all believers. Luke 17:20-21 We got into the kingdom of God by unconditional promises, through faith without works, as part of the foundation that Christ Jesus laid. Yet when we speak about inheriting the kingdom, we cannot talk about this first dispensation of the kingdom of God at all, seeing the word used here is inheriting, meaning, the Apostle Paul is referring unto the second dispensation of the kingdom of God, known as the millennial kingdom. Not all Christians will make it into this kingdom, although they will all go to heaven, yet to make it into the kingdom of heaven, it is not a free gift, rather you must earn entrance by meeting conditional promises, as in Matthew 7:21 and as in Acts 14:22 and as in Matthew 3:5 and Matthew 3:10 All of which speak of entering the millennial kingdom of heaven by faith with works, as you meet the conditions spoken of in those chapter versus. On the other hand, if a Christian lives an immoral lifestyle, as mentioned here in these seventeen sins, he is denied entrance into the millennial kingdom of God, and will remain in heaven until the thousand year kingdom is over.
Here the apostle Paul gives warning unto all Christians concerning the millennial kingdom, he warns if Christians live an ungodly lifestyle of immorality in these seventeen sins or the like, they cannot inherit the kingdom of God. This warning is specifically speaking about not inheriting a kingdom, it is not speaking of Christians who live immoral lifestyles cannot go to heaven. The Kingdom of God is based upon conditional promises, Christians must qualify in order for them to make it into the millennial kingdom of God, otherwise they will remain in heaven until the thousand year kingdom has expired before being resurrected. The Apostle Paul gives this same warning in 1 Cor. 6:9-10 and Ephesians 5:3-5 Even the Lord Jesus taught conditional promises must be met before a Christian is counted worthy to enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 7:21 The Lord Jesus taught if we bury our pounds we are denied entrance into the Millennial kingdom of Christ, as we must meet the conditions to qualify us. Luke 19:12-27 Again, the Apostle Paul taught conditional promises are required to make it into the millennial kingdom, as we must through much tribulation enter that kingdom of God. Acts 14:22
That is a good questions about funerals. If you are familiar with Scriptures, funerals were the norm throughout the Bible and history. A funeral gives a sense of closure and a last goodbye to the lost loved one. For a believer, it is an opportunity to have your last wishes be that the good news of Jesus be preached at your funeral and that God is praised for what he has done in one''s life. I have been thinking about planning my own funeral service and putting it with my will. Thanks for the reminder!
On your other question, concerning apostles, some today believe that the office of apostle is active in today's times. But as a whole, many Christians believe that the office of an apostle ended in the first century, as an apostle needed to be an eye-witness of Jesus, and thus a contemporary and thus one who lived in Judea and knew Jesus, bring a disciple.
Myself, I believe that mainstream view that the office of apostles ceased when the original apostles died in the first century after Jesus' death. So, I do not listen to people who claim to be an apostle in our times.
It says "Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Meekness, and as the old saying goes, "Meekness does not mean weakness." It means openness or receptivity. It's one of the words that Paul used for those in ministry.
It's also translated gentleness. But it means to be open. The person who's giving the word and ministering the things of Christ, that person must be more open and receptive than any other person. They can't close themselves off like they have arrived and everybody else hasn't. They have to be open.
And then temperance means self-control, or more literally the control of self. This is not self-control like trying to enforce discipline in our eating. "I've got to exhibit more self-control when I eat."
This word means to be controlled from within, to be controlled by the Spirit of God.
And then he says against such there is no law. And again, he's saying that this is the fruit of God's Spirit. There is no law against these.
Most know God is good , and so is his Holy Spirit .
But are we Good trees or bad trees ?
If we have the Holy Spirit we have the power to be good trees .
A Good tree can not bare bad fruit , a bad tree can not bear good fruit . Said Jesus and Apostles .
A few examples , of good fruit ; love others Be kind , merciful to others , even enemies , give to those in need , time our money , etc . Share the truth with others . Live a spotless or holy life . Not exceptOmg evil as good or be indifferent to it , no compromises. The list is longer but this should be the character of our lives in general , can we make errors and mistakes? Yes but they do not characterize our life . Confession to the Lord of these is always excepted when sincere.
I'm not correcting you just adding to what fruit is in the believer .
I am come to set a man at variance against his father. This was not the Savior's object, but the effect. The conversion of individual members of the family would cause variance. In nearly all quarrels, except those about religion, the members of the same family stand together, but in religious feuds the family circle is often broken and its parts arrayed against each other.
Wesley's Notes for Mark 7:22
Wickedness - The word means ill natured, cruelty, inhumanity, and all malevolent affections. Foolishness - Directly contrary to sobriety of thought and discourse: all kind of wild imaginations and extravagant passions.
One sign that you have received the holy spirit is the presence of the fruit of the Spirit. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. ... Growth takes time, and you can be patient with yourself as you grow in the fruit of the Spirit.
12 FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The 12 fruits are charity (or love), joy, peace, patience, benignity (or kindness), goodness, longanimity (or long-suffering), mildness (or gentleness), faith, modesty, continency (or self-control), and chastity.
Gods Nature=
Omnipotence - God is all-powerful - everything consistent with God's nature is possible. Omniscience - God is all-knowing, of past, present and future. Omnibenevolence - God is all-good/all-loving. Omnipresence - God is present everywhere.
See also Mt. 13:33. Regarding Luke 13:20-21, the correct interpretation is this:
+ The Kingdom of Heaven = the combined saved on earth; particularly the church.
+ Leaven = "another gospel"; any cursed false doctrine which is added to the True Gospel to make it more receptive. (e.g. the cursed doctrine which "so soon removed [the Galatian Church] from HIM (CHRIST) unto another [false] gospel" ( Gal. 1:6-7; cp. Hos.7:4).
+ A woman = the proponent and introducer of false doctrine. The New Testament never describes the True Church generally as a "woman". Rather, the True Church is described specifically and honorably as a "chaste virgin" ( 2Cor. 11:2) and a "the Bride, The LAMB's (CHRIST's) wife" ( Rev. 21:9; cp. 19:7).
+ Three measures of meal = the true saints; the true Kingdom of GOD; False professors and hypocrites will always reside within both.
+ Till the whole {meal} was leavened = religious "leaven" will always doctrinally corrupt any local church that receives it, as well as GOD's Kingdom as much as HE permits (generally speaking).
This parable, as all parables within Matthew Thirteen, describe the progressive devolution of the Church in general, and of GOD's Kingdom until CHRIST's 2nd Coming and Judgment.
Leaven, a type of sin, always pollutes and perverts that which is Holy (cp. 1Cor. 5:8).
The wicked counterparts to "a woman"-an antitype of the True Church-are "that woman Jezebel" ( Rev. 2:20), and the global religious system described as "the great whore", and "the mother of harlots" ( Rev. 17:1 & 5).
The "measures of meal" is that which "good seed" ( Mt. 13:24) produces, only by the planting of which symbolizes the growth of True and Productive Christian believers (cp. Mt. 13:8 & 23).
The True Gospel is never "hid", but rather is preached and openly, publicly, and boldly. The "woman" secretly "hid" her leaven which speaks of deception. She deceives by making her "leaven" more palatable to her gullible audience. Apostle Peter warned, "there shall be fal
+ ( Rev. 2:9) "them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan."
"Leaven" is anything extraneous which false religionists add to the True Gospel and Doctrine of CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR. That added "leaven" spreads throughout the Church and GOD's Kingdom. Compare the waywardness of the modern "church", and how far she has so removed herself from that perfect righteousness, holiness, and Godliness GOD requires. The modern church has literally removed LORD JESUS CHRIST to the back alley curbside.
CHRIST literally portrays this in HIS Proclamation, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock" ( Rev. 3:20). CHRIST, WHO is "The DOOR of the sheep" ( Jn. 10:7 & 9), now "knocks" of the "door" of the apathetic, indifferent, and backslidden church because the church has replaced the True "DOOR" with a "door" of false gospels, doctrines, and even a false lord and savior.
Of qualifications, when I speak of the modern church, I speak generally, for CHRIST will always "build" HIS True Churches. The True Church and the True Kingdom of GOD will persevere unto CHRIST comes again.
Philip Christian Parks on Galatians 5 - 3 years ago
Of the "leaven"; Gal. 5:9 = Scriptures always typify leaven as sin and evil, and all that GOD hates and forbids (cp. Exo. 34:25).
A "little" leaven will spread throughout the substance until it pollutes the whole. This principle is proven by the rule of "first mention" as recorded in Exodus 12:15 and 19 as GOD declared regarding the Passover Meal: "Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off {eliminated; destroyed; killed} from Israel."
Leaven typifies ...
+ evil and forbidden religious traditions and practices which pervert the true Religion ( Lev. 2:11; Amos 4:5-5; Mt. 13:33; Lu. 13:21);
+ evil doctrinal errors which pervert the True Gospel ( Mt. 16:6-12; Gal. 5:9);
+ blatant sinful character ( Mk. 8:15);
+ hypocrisy (Lu. 12:1);
+ pride and boasting ( 1Cor. 5:6);
+ fornication and the fornicator ( 1Cor. 5:7); and
Galatians 5:4 makes it very clear that we MUST continue to abide in Christ and relay on Him for salvation by faith in his blood and what he did on the cross for us! Those who start in the faith, being justified, but, walk away from Christ to trust in their own efforts are showing that they are not relying on Christ anymore, which is a very dangerous thing to do. think about it..... If Christ, who is the only way we will be saved ( Acts 4:12), becomes to no effect to us that can only mean we are in a state of condemnation..... We are fallen from grace. Paul is clearly talking to brothers and sisters in Christ, so this is a warning to saved Christians. Yes, while we can absolutely talk comfort in our salvation based on our faith in Christ, we must always remain steadfast and never turn away from the hope of the gospel ( Colossians 1:22-23). If we do, we will be cut off. However, just as the prodigal son was dead and made alive again ( Luke 15:11-32), so can the Christians who turn from Christ if they turn back to Him with a loving heart of faith in Him alone for salvation!
To Doris, if this is the first marriage for both, you are one flesh with your husband for life. No more twain, but one flesh, said Lord Jesus; never again two. a spiritual union that lasts until the death of one. This is why marrying is very very important to the Lord as it represents His marriage union with the Church whom He does not divorce. Have ever heard of the ''betrothal'' (a sort of engagement pior to the marriage itself, a spiritual bounding contract, see Deuteronomoy 22 about a virgin bride) and what it means to marriage?
How many times in life we are not doing what Jesus said...? He is patient with us to repent even until we die.
The exception in Matthew 5:32 and 19:8 is for fornication, meaning Not adultery (modern lexicons have added to the meaning in the past 200 years to include all sorts of sins other than fornication), but unchastity before the marriage itself. And in 1 Corinthians 7:15, ''not bound'' is coming from the word ''douloo'' in Greek which means ''servant/slave'', and it means not bound in the matrimonial duties, but still bound in the one flesh for life. Apostle Paul says that a woman who has a husband is bound to her husband for life until he dies and if she marries another she is an adulterress ( Romans 7:2-3, 1 Corinhians 7:29, 39).
In case of abuse , extreme, separation can be a solution, but divorce and remarriage is against thr Word of God and adulterers do not inherit God's Kingdom ( 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21).
Don't let modern interpretations mislead you about marriage, if it's a first for both, it is for life.
