Genesis 1:28. I believe Adam and Eve are the first humans created, however, why does God use the term 'Replenish' when telling Adam and Eve to multiply on the Earth?
  • Anne on Genesis 1 - 12 years ago
How do we know what the image of God is like?

Hi Liz, I would like to answer your question as to who Cain married. Because Eve was the mother of all living (Adam actually named his wife after they sinned and were kicked out of the garden) Cain could have only married his sister. This actually isn't too hard to swallow. In the beginning there were no genetic mistakes in the gene pool and for the first 2,000 years marrying close relations wouldn't have caused much of a problem with offspring. God only forbid it in the time of Moses. I believe it was for health reasons and of course some close relations would have been evil in his sight. Like a son marrying his mother. The Egyptians didn't regard the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob so they suffered many birth defects as they continued to marry close relations. Consider that Abraham married his half sister and God did not condemn him. There was no law against it. We literally are all related and go back to Noah and his three sons. The Bible says that from Noah's three sons came the nations of the world.

I could be wrong but I think the answer to Rev Canon is that when God said there was evening and there was morning, a second day he is counting like we do in the sense that from 1am-12pm that is our morning and then from 1pm-12am is the evening/night. So no it was still 24 hours because even on the first day he said there was evening and there was morning, a first day.

@ Christine. That account is on Genesis chapter 2:18-21. May the Holy spirit guide you out of confusion. I think the account in Genesis 1
, the creation of Man and female were in God's mind. Just like us before we do anything we first do it in our minds. So I believe the physical creation comes in chapter 2. God bless u!

John, unfortunately when we are operating and taking our evidence from within the spiritual sphere, it mostly becomes futile and sometimes impossible to explain these things using a scientific perception. People who live their lives within the spiritual perspective can quite easily enter the scientific perspective, but people who perceive things scientifically only cannot yet perceive things in the spiritual perspective. This is my experience as a person who once could only perceive the material world but can now perceive both scientific AND spiritual perspectives. as you are on this website I sense you may soon begin to perceive things spiritually as that is what happened to me and others I know. We started our spiritual journeys by sceptically questioning spiritual matters and craving for those things to be explained to us with science. My experience taught me that it doesn't go to plan and we are then "forced" into the spiritual perception when it all becomes clearer and we can then operate within both the spiritual and scientific perspectives. Hope this helps! But you won't get the answers you are looking for in the way you are asking right now.

Sin did not enter into the world until Eve chose to doubt God's goodness and ate the forbidden fruit. The earth/ground was not cursed until AFTER they were cast out of the garden. The tree came from the ground and God cursed the ground. Though God put the tree there, He did not create sin. It was merely the tree of KNOWLEDGE of Good and Evil. This is all in Genesis, ask Him for understanding and He will show you the Truth. You can't make any well-informed decision without first ALLOWING yourself to become informed.

From what I can wrap my head around, the Trinity makes sense because if it was Unity, there would be no way for God to judge His creation as Good. If it were a duality, nothing would ever be created because One Side of God might judge as good and the Other Side of God as bad, and an eternal fight would ensue with no compromise. The only way creation could possibly happen is if there is a Trinity. All is perfectly balanced and stabilized in the number 3. Not saying any part of God disagrees with itself. Just saying that it's a good idea in any effort to have three persons present. Looking at the makeup of the Holy Trinity is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If it were not for the Holy Spirit, the Son would not be able to emulate the Father, due to a lack of Understanding..... and that's what the Holy Spirit is responsible for... whenever you hear someone talk of understanding the Bible or doing God's will, they talk about being filled with the Holy Spirit, or in non-biblical terms "The Spirit of Understanding".

  • Sandra Urban on Genesis 1 - 12 years ago
This passage tells me that Christ exsisted before the foundation on the earth and the Trinity was already in place...as God was talking to someone when he said "Let US make men in OUR image, after OUR likeness...

I'm confused. I thought God caused a deep sleep to come upon Adam, and then God removed Adam's rib and formed Eve to be his helpmate. There is no mention of this here. ??

Thy truth is Genesis 1. Thy whole Bible Key points; Plan of creation, Purpose of creation which is Obedience in God's Law and Salvation plan after sin which is a transigration of God's Law.

  • David on Genesis 1:26 - 12 years ago
John 1 says "In the beginning the word was with God and the word was God". WORD in the original text translates to "logos" which means thought or plan. 1 Peter 1:19-20 = But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. The "thought" or "plan" was with God from the beginning. If God is a trinity, then the whole trinity "3 people" would have said to another being "let us" and he would have had to make 4 people. We see He made 1.

  • Ted on Genesis 1 - 12 years ago
Take God's word by faith and accept Jesus as your savior and you will be save. Just believing in God will not save you. Read the whole word of God and accept it as truth. Faith is the only thing that pleases God.

Coming from a physiological point of view , We are not true carnivores , our physiological processes do not allow us to digest and and absorb saturated fats and all the toxins that are in the animal flesh, we have a very long digestive track , true carnivores have a short digestive track. They have uric acid to break down animal flesh , we do not . Our teeth structure is for crushing , not ripping into flesh... All animal products contain cholesterol, and saturated fats, the plant kingdom does not.
This is why humans and pets have so many degenerative dis-eases.. Especially heart related diseases , cancers ,diabetes and such . We are cloogged up!!!! So eating anothers flesh does contribute to dis-ease , along with many other contributing factors.
    Hope this helps
