I am beginning to read the Gospel of Matthew and I went to Wikipedia to renew my knowledge about the circumstances how the Gospel was created. And then something occur to my mind that shocked me. A few days ago I red something about white garment in the Gospel of Mark, where somebody (let me be forgiven) supposes that young man with the white garment is Mark himself. The Holy Bible is not a book of history but WORD OF GOD where He in His (for us strange) ways try to tell us something. Knowing of some facts can not destroy THE WORD OF GOD. SEEK THE GOD TO BE ALIVE. Now I have a question. What is the baptism with the Holy Spirit and did somebody experience it.

The earth was a pretty place before satan was cast out of heaven and came to earth and his sin caused the earth to become dark without form and void.

I think we should just keep the scriptures God gave us they all work together just right and that onee word replenish, well, it means just what it means that this is our second time on this planet earth. I say that because God said Jacob I loved and Esau I hated and to say something like that God had to live and knew Esau. to better define the word replenish, go to Strongs Hebrew and Greek lexicon web page, and also for other help in defining words, the translation for replenish there is : to fill, be full, fill and subdue, confirm and consecrate. Use that website in concordance with this one!

Rory is 100 % correct in his translation, replenish although is used, to imply thatit means to replace, is like saying that theres such a word as plenish when reading this, but plenish is not a word, I gather thai it implies to keep creation going, to cause it to spread, rejuvenate, procreate, as there was nothing here before. Concerning the phrase before the foundations...., that is a reference as to how God sees time, the past, present and future are all one to him. he knew us beforewe were born, he sees us now, and also sees us in heaven with him, all at the same time, all as one!, howver it is up to us whether or not we truly end up in heaven with him in the end (predestination). God is not male or female. God is Spirit. God can create a man or woman from a stone. Babling confussion will get you struck with a rod of iron like these babling preachers. I am confused with para 26,27. These sections name fish,cattle and whales. God created them male and female, this reference is before eve and indicates when Adam was created a female was created at the same time.

God did not create the earth to be void, dark and formless.
why do i say that?
this is because it is inconsistent with the nature of God to make something that is imperfect.
Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights...
So God couldn't have created an earth that would become void and dark such that God would have to bring light and reform it again.
So you may ask? So what is the Bible talking about here in Gen 1:2.
Now understand this...
God created the heaven and earth IN THE BEGINNING; not on the first day.
It was the first day that God started his "creation work on the earth".
But between the BEGINNING and the FIRST DAY that God started working on the earth, somethings were already happening on the earth because God had already created the heaven and the earth. And it was these things that caused the earth to become void, dark and formless. So God came in to reform the earth.
Gen 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. AND the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

note that the "AND" there does not necessarily denote a continuation but can indicate a duration between the event before and after.
So I believe God created a perfect heaven and earth with creatures living in it but something happened and the perfect earth that God created became void, dark and formless. So God came in to reform that earth for man who was now going to take over the earth; so I support Insights comment that there was an earth age before this age mentioned here in the Gen 1:2-.
Note: What God told man right after He created him:
Gen 1:28...God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and REPLENISH the earth, and subdue it...
God told man to REPLENISH the earth. God would not have told man to replenish the earth if at a time it did not have life on it before man came. So man had to refill that once filled earth.
You may ask,"what was the earth fill with" You may also ask "what happened to the perfect earth that God created for it to become void, dark and formless". Well I can't go into that now; maybe another time.
But the reason why the Holy Spirit did not reveal it into details to Moses was because this Chapter was talking about man so what was happening before the age of man is not that "necessary".

I think after being in Vietnam and other parts of the far east where they raise fish and live that life I saw, that if, your from the far east, maybe so. When God made all the 6th day children and re-plenished the earth He may of just started there. It looks as if He started them first the way the Word reads.

Does it mean the image of God combines all the traits and character of each races on earth. (i.e., chinese, african, whites, indians, etc.) -

until now we are still muddling along the meaning of the word LET US. logically, the word requires nothing but a simple comprehension that it would be very impossible to create man and woman following one singular image and character. i therefore conclude that there was and there is a MOTHER (female), i repeat, A MOTHER GOD. lets free our mind from the doctrine of a singular GOD housed inside the character of SINGULAR FATHER GOD, otherwise, we are decieving ourselves and we are denying the existence of every women, who like our mother, maternally held us for nine months and raised us until were capable of tendering for our own existence.

My understanding about the verse is that,God has provided everything for man,but want us to use wisdom to discover them.

with the world as it is you almost wonder why God is as good as he is.It not hard to to figure out that we have gone out of our way to show our unthankfulness. ABut when I read the Bible I see that God is so much larger than our petty views and loves us far beyond any thing wwe could possibly imagine.

the story of earth's creation is deep and i always for sum odd reason find myself back at the creation before i read anything else in the bible

For a being to create something from nothing lets me know that it's more to life than life.
