I've thought much about Hagar. She was a servant/slave. Without her thoughts or feelings on the matter-She was forced to be marry and sleep with and then bare a child that was to be considered not hers but Sarah's. She was told this wouldn't be her child.... Imagine her pain. The Lord said' I have heard of thy affliction" Hagars response was I see him who sees me.
From this verse, God shows that our flesh is under our control, sometimes we fall in to temptations, we face difficulties physically, we fail to obey Him because we have given our flesh the whole of our attention. All that our worldly body requires, which is in war with our spiritual body is under our own control.

Not sure if anyone caught this, but this is a scripture that has been fulfilled, and to me it seems as if its one of the oldest. It said Ishmael would be a wild man, and everyones hand would be against his, and his against everyone else. If he really was the person that the arabs trace their lineage to...then this seems to be fufilled!
