    ROBIN,

Use upper case G for God, it shows honor. God bless you

    RONBIN,

Alcohol is a spice to be used in drinks and food and also as a preservative. But like everything else, anything in excess can lead to abuse and death. It's the same with Adam and Eve. God command Adam to take care of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but Adam went and did more, he eat the fruit. So use it according to its purpose and proportion and all will be well with you, your neighbors and most importantly, God. God bless you

    CARLETON,

Yes, by God's strength and mercy, not my strength. God bless you

    CINDY,

Yes Ms. Cindy, but still the moral of the story is, on judgement day when all sins have ran its course, God will take all His chosen ones, male and female, from this earth to the New Heavens and New Earth, and will destroy this earth and all in it with fire and brimstone. God bless you
  • Carletom - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Thank you Vince! Most important now that we not turn back from our commitment in Jesus Christ.
  • Cindy - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
You're right. My bad. It was the sons-in-law who refused to leave. Said sons-in-law were betrothed to Lot's daughters and the girls were virgins when they left.
  • Robin - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Thanks for the reply. One more question. Is drinking alcohol a sin?
  • Richard in Christ on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Isaiah 59:1-3 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

Malachi 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

James 4:7-10 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Isaiah 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

    To Cindy,

Also Cindy, Lot and his family were not willing participants to leave the city life. God's salvation plan does not includes willing participants, HE draws and leads just like HE draws and leads Lot and his family out of the city. God bless you
  • Vince - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
    Hello Carleton.

Notice out of both cities only one man was saved, LOT? What that say to us? It says none were God fearing including Lot and Lot's family. It's God and His great mercy saved them. Same with us. No one deserves God's salvation, but because of His great LOVE and MERCY he choose to save many. He choose them before the world began. God bless you
  • Vince - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
    Hi Cindy,

So I guess Lot's wife did not heed to God's word. And what older children are you referring to? It's Lot, his wife and the 2 girls. The girls were to be married but the 2 guys stayed behind. Lot and the girls must have had friends too. The wife looking back shows that her heart was more into the city's lifestyle more than the rest of the them. God bless you
  • Ngozi on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
what are the lessons to learn from the book of ruth
  • Cindy - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Yes, but you have to remember that their older children refused to go with them. She likely had friends there. And she may have had a good life. So she looked back on it. The thing is, they were ordered to flee and not look back, but she did and was turned into a pillar of salt. This is a lesson for us to heed God's word above all else.
  • Carleton - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Perhaps too by the sin of these two cities it was nearly impossible for God fearing men to co-exist.
  • Vince - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Why do you think Lot's wife looked back? It's because the whole family was already influenced by the sins of the city. Also, where did the girls get the idea to sleep with their father? Sinful influences. God bless you
  • Vince - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
Because their sins reach up to heaven meaning they have done all they could do in homosexuality. God bless you
  • Cindy - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 3 years ago
The populations were evil in all their ways--except for Lot, his wife, and their two daughters. God did not want that evil to influence His people, so He destroyed both cities with fire and brimstone.

In the Bible it states the land that was given to Ishmael. Can you tell me where that is located at.

I know where Isaac's is. I read Ishmael a long time ago but I can't seem to locate it.

Thank you for a timely reply!

Abraham is told ( Gen 17:6) that nations and kings would come from him. Do these nations exist today? If yes, then who are these nations?

    Thank you so much.

    Bob
  • Shorna - In Reply on Genesis 17 - 4 years ago
So Abraham is not the father of all nations. According to verse 4 above, God told him he will be the father of many nations. So,the rest of the bible follow the path of Abraham's lineage.

I think most males now days are circumcised when they are born. If I am circumcised, does that make me a Jew? I'm not as far as I know.
  • Preacher on Genesis 17 - 5 years ago
Alex I am with Karl on this. We should strive for perfection ROM 6:12 Let not sin reign in your mortal bodies. Strive to enter in at the strait gate Luke 13:24 . Christians should be a reflection of Christ and be Christ like.
  • JP on Genesis 17 - 5 years ago
Cheryl, Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
  • Alex on Genesis 17 - 5 years ago
Karl the Ultimate PERFECTION cd only come via the Blood of Christ, the NEW covenant. Men from the O.T. acheived a TYPE OF perfection by FLESHLY Circumcision a type of the CIRCUMCISION THAT CAN ONLY COME VIA THE SWORD OF CHRIST. The ultimate PERFECTION CD ONLY COME VIA THAT 2 ND COVENANT. BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKETH AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD.TO WHOM THE WORD CAME IT MADE THEM GODS PERFECTION
  • Karl on Genesis 17 - 5 years ago
Genesis 17:1 - Almighty God, Yahweh (YHWH) commands Abram (Abraham) to walk before
him and to be PERFECT in the Old Testament. In Matthew 5:48 Christ says " be ye PERFECT
as your Father which is in Heaven is Perfect". Here we have clear, irrefutable evidence that despite what many people say and teach about no one can be perfect, we find out from the
word of God that we can in fact achieve it.

ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH!
It said he will be THE FATHER of many nations, NOT all nations; Gen 17:4.
    Bless You!
