  • Christine on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Why did he put the tree of knowledge of good and evil for in the first place? If we were made of his image why not make us exactly like him knowing what he expected us to know? If we have evil in this world it was god choice. He decided to create everything good and bad.

Martha: Saturday is The Day of Rest. Verse 2-3. Sunday is The First Day
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Daybreak; You say that God inspired the Scriptures; but is offended if we really understand them? That makes no sense whatever! Why then would God have gone through all the pain and trouble, and so many of His servants been persecuted and killed, to bring us the Word; when there's no way to understand it accurately? THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SENT TO US TO TEACH US ALL THINGS AND TO GUIDE US IN ALL TRUTH!
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Martha; the seventh day is Shabbat (Sabbath). The names of Saturday and Sunday came through Nimrod and the heathen worship he forced men into by the force of the sword. If you look in a good Collegiate Dictionary you can still find the meaning of the names of the days of the week; and all are rooted in Baal and Ashtaroth (Nimrod and his wife) heathen antichrist...Sun-day Moon-day(etc) Saturn-day.
  • Martha Taylor on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
One thing that is not clear to is the seventh day that God rested , was it on Sunday or Saturday ? , can you please make me to
    Understand .
  • Lionheart on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Hi Donna,I believe the rivers you ask about are the Tigris and Euphrates, both in current day iraq
  • Donna Cromb on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Does anyone know what the rivers are in verses 11-14? The only one I recognize is the Euphrates and the land of Ethiopia, is that the Nile? I found the Euphrates but it says its in Mesopotamia which is where? It's not clear in Strongs concordance and my maps don't include it.
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Donna; Yes, and yes! When they sinned they died spiritually and were ashamed; and we know how very terrible it is to be ashamed! And these being the first humans to ever experience this, and that, from perfect purity and innocence; we can only guess how very terrible! As we read the story; the pronouncement of Christ coming to break the serpent's head was that whereon they were released to live.
  • Donna on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
7: God formed man, breathed in him, and man became a living soul. Now earlier it said in God's image, so that means God is a living soul. Right? Then when Adam sinned God said he would surely die, but we know physically he lived for quite a while after being evicted from the garden of Eden. So was it that he died at a later date or could it mean that his soul died or he as a living soul died?
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
On the other hand, however we may see through a glass darkly, and struggle sometimes with each other to all be sound and confirmed sure in our understanding; isn't it a most profitable exercise for us to talk of the things of the Lord? When one has a little knowledge, and can by the Lord's ability, convey that to his brethren, that's a good thing! We're all LEARNING to be meek and lowly of heart:)
  • Daybreak on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Studying, researching discussing the bible in order to better understand God's word is vital to our growth relationship with Him. However it is wrong prideful for us to try to 'figure God out' by not accepting that the bible says precisely what God intended, precisely the way God intended the words to be written. God must be so sad when we bend His scripture to suit our inferior finite minds
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
When, Oh when, will all the liars and unbelievers and speakers against the Word be silenced? What are they thinking who they are, to open their little mouths against the Almighty God? For they say, Oh, we're College educated, and modern rational thinkers; we KNOW that the Bible doesn't really mean what it says, because we're too smart for that! Well, we'll see who's smart, and who's word stands!
  • Word on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Jeff Berry if that's what you want to believe then that's your way. I don't know much about what science says nor so called Christians or Jews and my Exhaustive Strong's Concordance is before 1970 and I notice the new Strong's is like reading a NIV Bible both should be used for a camp fire. I look up words and Foundation in the N.T. Translated, oh, check it out. Supprise yourself
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Word; the first 3 words in the Bible are foundational. Christians and Jews have traditionally, overwhelmingly translated this to mean the absolute beginning. Again, you are trying to make the Bible fit man's science. If Science says that the earth existed before the six days of creation then the science is wrong. Trust the Word of God not man's science. Blessings!
  • Arthur on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
I don't know what's going on here but I'm reading the 1611 version and in verse 9 where it says "And out of the ground" the "the" is a thorn old Runic letter for "th" and a little tiny e. Which is how I think "the" would have been spelled in those days, But it's only in that one verse. If you do a Ctrl F search it goes away. I don't know why.

Genesis 2:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
  • Word on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Jeff berry God covered the earth with many different races when He made that statement and that's the truth. I could tell you that God was speaking to us at the time. Also we lived on earth for millions of years until the katabole and this first chapter is the rejuvenation of the earth after it was submerged in water when God got mad. Why, check
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Word: Your statement concerning chapter 1:26 ("God created people around the earth, different races...") is intended to support your belief in evloution. Any time science contridics scripture, science is wrong. 1:26 is referring to the human race, there is only 1 race. The idea of many races is necessary to support evolutionary theory. Trust the Bible until science corrects itself!
  • Word on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Search the tree of good and evil all the way and you find out it had a nervous system and a backbone. Then the tree of Life is in the Revelation. Don't read to fast and always take time to search the words out and you'll learn the truth.
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Word,Cain was"turned aside after Satan"as in 1Tim. 5:15, and Job 2:6. John 8:44 (Cain)"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do"God calls the devil a murderer(so was Cain)Cain did not abide in truth(John14:6),Satan is a liar and the father of lies. What scripture were you thinking of when you said "Satan had Cain" 1Tim.1:4- God's instructions are"don't heed fables"
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Word, story of creation is not a fable or parable.Gen2:8,9,15,16,17.Gen3:1-7=Satan deceived Eve.The two trees are the tree of Life, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. After she ate she had knowledge of good and evil. When she and Adam confessed,God cursed them both, removed them, and guarded the garden so they would not have access to the tree of Life. Cain was Adam and Eve's son.
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
    T. Eric; you are right! The story of how Christians started observing Sunday instead of the Sabbath, goes back to the Emperor Constantine; who after he became a Christian (?) still worshiped the sun-god (Nimrod), and wanted to keep observing sun-day in his honor. It has really nothing more to do with the first day of the week, like many think. The early disciples from the Gentiles didn't do that!
  • TWAGIRAMUNGU ERIC on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Hello, about of chapter of Genesis 1 and 2,God created every thing from the first day to the end, then he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.he say 3 things

  • Irene123 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
I just now re-read my post of a month ago; "As to Eve and Adam not sinning ..... they had no choice ..... "; that is wrong. God created us with free choice. What I should have said was - up until the serpent entered the garden - man's free choice hadn't been 'tested'.
  • Word on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Genesis 1 is a rejuvenation of the world that was where we all lived in spirit bodies and then Satan tried by setting up his political system was cast down. Satan had 1/3 of Gods children on his side they trail after him, tares whom he sends to earth. God at the katabole got very mad and there was a great flood in Jer 4. No Noah and Hebrew it says God submerged the earth in water not to a full end
  • Irene123 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Gen. ch.1 was a 'blueprint, pre-plan for man's creation. Gen 2:27 says God breathed into Adam the breath of life and Adam became a living soul. Ch. 2 gives more detail, so we know ch. 2 is when it actually happened.
  • Irene123 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
The reign of death began as the result of transgression against divine commandment. Adam 'n Eve sinned against God in disobedience. Consequently, the access to the Tree of Life, which would have enabled man to live forever, was blocked. The cherubim and the turning, flaming sword prohibited man's continued, unending existence in his terrestrial environment. cont.

Julie listen to God. I believe Gen.1:26 God created people around the earth, different races and that verse tells us He created man, animals all around the earth. Science tells same. For more information on this you can Google search biblestudyforlife.com and go to the main site click it and then to site map in middle click it and check out the notes. I also like the sitemap at bottom of mainsite.
  • Osomo mojisola on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
the man in chapter one was a man created as spirit, until chapter two the man became a visible man
  • Irene123 on Genesis 2 - 7 years ago
Julie - man was not made in Gen. 1:26 this was God's preliminary 'idea' for creating man a 'blueprint' for man to be made. Man was actually created in Gen. 2:7.
