G d showed mercy and comfort by giving another son to Adam after the death of Abel. He also showed mercy to Cain by not allowing him to be killed by anyone else. Cain committed the first murder. Adam and Eve broke the first commandment which was obedience.

Genesis 4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

I have a question about Verses 14 and 15. Why would he need a mark on his forhead? Who is going to find him?
  • Rick on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Shuana: The Bible stated that Adam and Eve had sons and daughters in Chapter 5:4, and didn 't specify the times between any of those children they may have had in the 900 years of life that the Lord granted them.
  • Shauna Simpson on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago

  • Moses on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago

  • John on Genesis 4:5 - 9 years ago
I mean Ten Percent for tithes and offerings.
  • John on Genesis 4:5 - 9 years ago
The Lord sent his son Jesus to die for our sins,so he deserves the very best as a sacrifice and offering. If you have 10 of your income from a weeks pay plus offerings, bills that are tattered or torn and some that are in mint condition, which would the Lord accept in the collection bucket? That 's what 's this verse is saying here. Read the description of heaven mentioned in revelation, precious stones and pearls.
  • Lee on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Adam and Eve had many children prior to Abel and Cain. Its pointed out when the sons of god saw the daughters of men that they were beautiful.

  • Badoni Kelvin on Genesis 4:17 - 9 years ago
God has commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, and His word is Ye and Amen. So God did some thing for the first creation to multiply, and that we dont know how. Dont forget God is capable of bringing out ways when there is no way. I conclude "God is God and we are humans, we cant reason 1 percent to his reasoning. If you believe God dont be confuse again about this. "

Nod is east of Eden there is a lot of land east of eden

where is the Land of Nod
  • Mr. Staten on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
I always wonder where Cain wife came from. So it was brother and sister that had kids. Isn 't that forbidden. Also why do we not live the age of Adam?
  • Dewey J on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
RNH, I merely attempted to answer Michael 's question. It is of no difference concerning mankind 's salvation for that is by the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the Holy Ghost by the power of God the Father. We do not know how long Adam and Eve was I the garden of Eden before they sinned because they existed in eternity as far as we know. Therefore she could have had that name long before they sinned after all Adam had his name. It will take I believe faith to believe either account of Cain getting his wife. I was saying she as well as some other of her sisters were already in the land of Nod probably when God sent him there. Adam lived over nine hundred years and who knows how many scores of sons and daughters he had or in what order. God bless us all and in the understanding of His Word
  • RNM 4-4-25 GEN on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
GEN 4-4-25...Dewey, your response to Michael could have a two fold explanation, which it is correct Adam named her Eve, meaning the mother of all living, it was also true that when Adam stated this he had already fallen from his original state of grace and obedience. And it takes just as much faith to believe that Cain was given a wife by God, as it does, that a daughter of Adam and Eve, a sister to Cain left her parents to pursue Cain in the land of Nod to marry him. And then to add the fact that Cain, his wife and offspring all perished in the flood. Still holding true to Adam 's meaning of Eve 's name, but also holding true to the possibility that God could have created a wife for Cain. I am just stating a possibility. What difference does it make anyway, it has no bearing on Salvation does it, I believe the word tells us to avoid these types of questions. PRAISE GOD, PRAISE YESHUA. AMEN!!
  • Dewey J on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Michael, that question has long been a mystery to mankind. But we know the Bible speaks little of the brith and actions of women. It appears to me that God created only one Adam and one Eve whom Adam named the mother of all living. That being said this suggest that Eve is the mother of the wife of Cain also. Therefore, Cain seems to have married his sister as well as all men when the human race begin on earth married their sisters. Adam and must have reproduced many daughters. God bless our understanding of His Word.
  • Michael on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
So where does Cain 's wife come from? I 'm guessing that God created more humans but the Bible never mentions this anywhere. I would think this would be a pretty important piece of information to have been left out of the very first mention of the creation of man.
  • Dwaun Marshall on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
It was very interesting to see, how everything came into play between Adam and Eve and how they fell from grace, going against God 's one command and Cain and Abel being polar opposites.
  • Jude on Genesis 4:9 - 9 years ago
God knew all that happened to Abel. But there is a meaning to the reply of Cain. Those whom has seen the light of Christ, the saved ones, those free from God 's judgment are also giving this same reply to this same question by God Almighty. We that are saved have our own siblings yet to repent, we see all these and yet remain still without spreading this good news rather we give excuses just the way Cain did. what we should take note should be the picture that has been drawn in the old testament.
  • John on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Dear Sharon. 1st John chapter 3 elaborates on this, particulary verse 12. Basically it says that that Cain 's works were evil and Able 's righteous. Hope this gives you a little more to go on!
  • Tekesha Anderson on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
WHEN GOD GIVE YOU THAT CHANCE TO DO BETTER TAKE IT. CAIN WAS JEALOUS HEARTED.
  • NORMA C OGRADY on Genesis 4:10 - 10 years ago
Jehovah God is all knowing. He already knew what Cain had done to his brother Abel. He just confronted Cain to give him a chance to use the free will that He Jehovah had given him as well as each and every human after the fall of his parents Adam and Eve. Genesis 4:10- And He Jehovah said: 'What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother 's blood crieth unto Me from the ground. Jehovah gave him the opportunity to confess his act of premeditated murder and would have forgiven him but Cain 's answer was to the contrary. That is why Jehovah said to Cain: 'Where is Abel your brother? ' And Cain replied: 'I don 't know am I my brother 's keeper? ' Thus Cain sealed his own fate. Jehovah at this point gave him justice.
  • RNM 4-9 GEN on Genesis 4 - 10 years ago
GEN 4-9...Sorry its taken this long to reply, I see where you are going, but for one it does not say it was a sacrificial offering and it does not say it was a sin offering, which would have required the blood atonement. It was just an offering to the Lord, which did not require blood. There are many types of offerings and only a few require the blood. AMEN!!
  • Kelly on Genesis 4:14 - 10 years ago
Who are these other people that live outside of Eden? God created Adam, and from Adam He created Eve, Eve bore Cain, then bore Able whom Cain killed. So who is it that Cain is afraid will kill him if they see him?
  • Kelly Quinn on Genesis 4 - 10 years ago
All very interesting comments, but the truth be known Cain 's sacrifice was unacceptable because it contained no blood. Blood must be shed for the forgiveness of sin! If there were any other way, Jesus would not have had to shed blood on the cross.
  • RNM 4-23 GEN on Genesis 4 - 10 years ago
GEN 4-23...It 's really just my opinion, but looking at the whole scene logically, and knowing a little about what was expected from the sacrificial offerings of the Old Covenant, I think it is safe to assume Cain and Able knew enough of the Creator and the Royalty of HIM as GOD. That Able no doubt had brought for his offering the choicest calf of his flock pure, without blemish, going to great lengths to make his offering pleasing to his Heavenly Father. Where Cain probably had a different view of things for one being the older brother, there might have been some slight inner resentment toward his younger brother like it is in todays life, but ultimately it was all reflected in what he had put together for his offering, maybe a haphazard bunch of fruit or vegetables put together in a not to caring manner, and this displeased Our God. We know that Our Heavenly Father is Loving, Supremely Just, and Fair, BUT HE IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD, and it is our reasonable duty to treat HIM as such, at all times, no matter the consequences. But the bottom line is it all hinged on him doing well, as God explained to Cain afterward. AMEN!!
  • Sharon on Genesis 4 - 10 years ago
I don 't understand why God wasn 't happy with cains first fruits as a farmer but happy with ables ?
