John, very interesting subject. What it really come down to is weather your are a pre-tribulationist or post-tribulationist. One of the strongest argument pre-tribulationist have is Rev. 3:10 "Because thou hast kept the word of my patients, I also will keep thee from-not through-the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Others who can be viewed as post-tribulationist consider Scriptures like Dan. 12:3 "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Act. 8:1 "And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jewusalem and they were all scattered abroad through the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2 Tim. 3:12 " Yea-or yes-all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. In this case great tribulations or persecutions. I say what Matt. 24:42 says, "watch therefore for you know not what hour your Lord doth come. God bless us all and also in the understanding of his Word. Praise God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.Amen!

Zaphnathpaaneia and Asenath his gentile bride may well also represent a type of Christ and the Church, whereas those who remain in the house of Jacob Joseph 's brothers , facing the prophesied famine, could also represent the remant of the twelve tribes facing the tribution period descibed in the book of Revelation. This is a theory that has been written about by Clarence Larkin in his book 'Dispensational Truth '. It makes a lot of sense to me, much more than a lot of the anti-tribulation preaching that seems quite prevalent at the moment. It 'd be great to hear any thoughts anyone has about this! Many thanks

The seven years of plenty can relate to the times when God 's word was bountiful on the earth in past times. Now in the final days when the world especially the west is becoming more secular the word of god is being surpressed and it becomes a famine.

That we should not give up on God in whatever situation we found ourselves... because Almighty God Himself will never gives up on us.
  • Olaide Wisdom on Genesis 41:39 - 10 years ago
In Proverbs 3, God spoke about trusting Him with our heart and not trusting our head as I put it! Then it goes on to further spell out the implication of this, which is Wisdom and discretion, among other things and he further admonishes us never to let wisdom and discretion out of our sight or alse disaster is bound to happen. This was the secret to Joseph Success And in a world ridden with uncertainties, tis our key to success where everyone is failing
  • Joseph on Genesis 41 - 10 years ago
One of the greatest virtues worthy of emulation in the life of Joseph, apart from his faithfulness, is his humility and meekness. When asked whether he could interprete the dream though he already knew God had given him the gift of dreams and its interpretation, he ascribed all gifts to God and gave all the glory to God. The lesson i learnt there is that even to the last point, we may be tested to show what is in our heart and if we can only seek the glory of God and humble ourselves, He will lift us up. May God inspire us all to seek first the kingdom of God and live a selfless, godly life in Jesus Name

Too often we forget who is in control of our lives God know and sees all joseph was confident in our lord and because of that he remained faithful Joseph has taught us never to miss an oppurtunity to share gods love and to be faithful god does not act in desperation and he cannot be manipulated by our praise but what he resonds to is our ernest and true heartwarming praise To all the believers out there START HAVING SOME CAREFREE FAITH IN GOD ie GIVE IT TO GOD AND FORGET ABOUT IT

We, as Christians are a type of "Joseph". We have great authority given us "In Christ" by our King. We were in the "pit". We rise from despair to Kingship because of our Savior. Our King is still the One who reigns on the Throne.

Joseph offered a voluntary service to the chief butler and the chief baker without any benefit. Little did he know that his good deeds will make way for him. When he was brought to Pharaoh and after he interpreted the king's dream, he suggested that the king should look out for a man who is discreet and wise to do the job. Joseph did not recommend himself. We need to learn from Joseph, who knows whether the solution to our challenge lies in giving a helping hand to somebody in need. Joseph was sensitive to the needs of others, despite his own challenges, he was ready to provide solution without any benefit.

By the end of the chapter we see that Joseph was all in all in Egypt. We even see Pharaoh telling people to do what Joseph tells them to do. But..... was it easy for Joseph to have this position? Let's go back a little and see through what circumstances had Joseph go through to rise to this position. He had to go to the pit, he became a servant in the house of Potiphar where he was accused for nothing, the devil pushed him to the jail. It was the Hell. Then Joseph began to rise. He was made the chief of the prisoners and he had the keys of the jail. He interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker. He was not noticeable till then. He had to interpret for Pharaoh.....so on.... What we can conclude from here is that our God is not that God who leaves his people in the midst of troubles. He always makes a way for his people. But we have to prove our faithfulness to Him. Glory be to our God forever and ever and ever.

GOD SAID A MAN'S GIFT SHALL MAKE ROOM FOR HIM. JOSEPH WAS VINDICATED AND IS MADE PRIME MINISTER OF EGYPT. JOSEPH DOES NOT SEEK REVENGE FOR THOSE WHO SENT HIM TO PRISON, YET HE IS BLESSED WITH A WIFE, AND TWO CHILDREN. GOD MADE HIM TO FORGET HIS TOIL, AND MADE HIM TO PROSPER. SEVEN REPRESENTS COMPLETION, AND GOD BRINGS ALL THINGS TO A PERFECT COMPLETION AT THE RIGHT TIME. THANK GOD FOR JOSEPH, AND LOOK TO THE LORD TO BRING YOUR SITUATION TO A COMPLETE ENDING AT THE APPOINTED TIME FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.

  • Jay Chesney on Genesis 41 - 14 years ago
No matter what we go through, God always has a plan for us. Joseph's dreams are about to become reality, but he could not see it in the pit. God put Joseph in a place where he would be needed to perform God's will.

And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

Isn't this is what GOD wants us to do, TO do as the LORD says: Its a shame, we have to wait until times are hard to turn to him. - It seems nothing has changed since the time of pharoah
