Dear brother, since Jacob was under the influence of God's Spirit and was about to start prophesing about his children, I suppose that he was given a direction from the Holly Spirit.
Udodirim this may be a lil hard to understand...But Gen. 25 said that the Elder shall serve the younger...When Rachel was pregnant the 2 children struggled in her womb...And Joseph's 2 sons Ephraim and Manasseh Gen. 48 says JACOB BLESSED THE YOUNGER INSTEAD OF THE ELDER...Which answers to our Salvation ...We must birth a new innerman which is the H.G. OUR YOUNGER MAN as Jesus said whosoever receiveth one such child in my name receiveth me...Its our younger man which is the H.G thats is truly blessed...Our bornagain man is the younger he is the one who gets the Blesssing...But our old man has to serve the Younger which is Christ in us...We cannot have the Kingdom unless we are bornagain...Its only our Newman that is heir to the Kingdom...And we are just a joint heir with the H.G. That Child of Promise our New Innerman which is the younger man...Our NEWMAN, our new born is gonna be served by the elder which is our old man
.....10 times in the N.T. Speaks of us needing to birth a new innerman...Which is Christ in us...Our new born...There is a baby Christ in our future which is the H.G that Child of PROMISE...That New Born babe that desires the sincere milk of the word is the H.G. that Child of Promise...Whosoever receiveth one such child in my name receiveth me which is the H.G the Child of PROMISE...She brought forth aman Child that is gonna rule ALL nations...We are the woman but her Child is our new born, the younger...The Woman is the elder (humanity) but her Child is the younger..The H.G ..That is gonna be born in us via the seed of Christ....There's more to this Manasseh Ephrahim thing then what meets the eye...Jesus said these things are hid from the wise and prudent but revealed unto babes...The younger ones..The H.G....The Children of PROMISE.
The text does not say why Jacob did this, but it may be that Jacob did this under the direction of the Holy Spirit Who gave Jacob a word from God concerning this-perhaps in a time of prayer, in a dream, in a vision, or in an appearance of the "Angel of the Lord" that was not recorded. But I believe it was God's will for Jacob to do this.
Why did Jacob place Ephraim before Manasseh and blessed him more?. I do not understand it. Pease could you throw more light on this?. Thank you and remain ever blessed and rapturable in JESUS name. Amen.
This is the most important blessing the 2 boys could have received. Ephraim, the younger, was to come first, and become a nation and a company of nations. His older brother, Manasseh, what to become a great nation.
Jacob (Israel) now repeats the blessing as his father did. This time; as with him he was to bless the younger son over the older; going against tradition. He appeared to be aware despite bad vision. Unlike with his father and Rebekkah in his blessing, however his son Joseph told him he was in error to his face. His son tried to change it to be enacted for Manasseh but his father refused. This going against tradition happens once again when the Lord judges not to human appearance with David over all of his older brothers to be anointed to be king.
It is also interesting that this whole possession of the land and flocks and possessions of Israel would eventually lead them to forced servitude and bondage owning nothing for themselves. In short; they sort of set themselves up for what eventually went down hundreds of years later. This of course was all prophesied earlier to Abraham.
The fact that Jacob in the previous chapter mentions to Pharoah that his days were shorter despite being well over 100 than the other patriarchs; there is once again validity to the much advanced age of death going back closer to the time of Noah; who produced all living since the flood; and of course the same pattern holds true back to Adam.
It appears that Jacob's agreement with Laban not to marry anyone else also held true. The fact that he went back to the place where he first trusted in God and put an altar there and his whole life shows great faith and God's chastisement to teach him lessons. Despite his son Joseph's seemingly boastful dreams the father kept it to heart. Truly father and son were greatly blessed; despite what the enemy surely tried to mean for good-the blessing of the Lord prevailed to accomplish His purposes. Opposition would later allow Moses to trust God for Israel's great deliverance from Egypt and Pharaoh and to finally conquer the Promised Land (at least in part).
Ahh, here is the blessings. I mistook the bowing of Jacob's head on the bed in the last chapter as Jacob dying.
It is interesting that this is the first time Jacob meets Joseph's sons. Where were they all the years Jacob was in Goshen, Egypt? Did is mother keep them from Joseph's family?
Jacob first calls Joseph to him when he knows that his death is near. He wants to give the birthright blessing to one of Joseph's sons. And he puts his right hand (the hand of blessing) on the second born, not the first. He blesses both.
Joseph receives a double blessing from his father.
Makes me think that back before Joseph went to Egypt, and Joseph was Jacob's favored son, God must have told Jacob that the blessing he received from his father Isaac over Esau, and Isaac received from Abraham over Ishmael was to go to Joseph. This blessing had the promises of Abraham, Isaac , and Jacob attached to it. It identifies the one God will bless exceedingly with descendants, possession of the land, and walk with God.
Sister Nanette, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS understanding and HIS wisdom.
You are correct, The Spirit is ONLY CALLING OUT the manifest Sons of GOD; NOW, in the age of grace. (first death and resurrection)
But:
Romans 8:19 For the earnest EXPECTATION of the creature (CREATION) WAITETH for the manifestation of the Sons of GOD.
Romans 8:20 For the creature (CREATION) ITSELF shall be DELIEVERED from the bondage of corruption INTO the glorious liberty of the CHILDREN OF GOD.
The rest of creation (second resurrection and second death) will be delivered (to Spiritual truth and Spiritual life) THROUGH JUDGEMENT. ( Isaiah 4:4) The lake of fire that burneth with brimstone.
1 Corinthians 3:15 ....But he himself shall be SAVED; yet so as BY FIRE.
It is true that God knows His sheep. A person who has experienced a spiritual re-birth (Born again) is a person who God knows. All others are impostors. There will come a day that many will profess that during their lifetime, they did many wonderful things "in His name," and the Lord will say to them "Depart from me, I never knew you." This would be all those who died without receiving Christ. You are correct in that there are two future resurrections. There will be a resurrection for those who have died "In Christ," and then there will be another resurrection after the thousand-year reign of Christ for those who died without Christ, those who rejected Him in their lifetime. The first resurrection is the one you want to be a part of because those in the second one will be cast into the lake of fire.
I don't think the bible teaches that a person who dies without Christ in their life will be given a second chance after death, if that's what you are saying. Again, God knows all His sheep, those who have received Christ while still alive on this earth. In Galatians 4:9 Paul says, But now, and if I may point this out to you because it is very subtle, and he said it in Colossians also.
He says but after you have known God, or (rather) are known of God. You see, Paul corrected himself. He corrected himself in Colossians as well. And we do it all the time. We ask people "Do you know the Lord?" But the scripture says does the Lord know you? That's what's important. It's not that I know Christ, but He knows me.
Nanette, does the Lord know you? Have you received Him? Have you surrendered your life to Him? It is my hope that you have already done so and that you belong to Him. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, please do not hesitate to do so. There is no guarantee of tomorrow. Believing that we get a second chance at salvation after death is not a risk anyone should take!
God says He knows only those that keep His way,His commandments and though many call His name he does not know them.God knows that all that die in this life will be given another kick at the cat so to speak. If not in the first resuerection then the second.
Hello Jannelle. This is one of those oft-asked profound questions to which there is no adequate well-informed answer. I think most of us have given this much thought at some point in our Christian walk, so various answers may well be correct.
Even as God has all Power to protect or shield His children from all harm, discomfort & disappointment in life, it seems He often chooses not to do so. Even with the ministry of Jesus to the sick & suffering, or those who died & He raised to life, there was certainly joy amongst them that their life had been restored but does that mean that they didn't have to face struggles, ill-health & calamity the next day? Or, even those in the Church so equipped with the Gift of healing, have certainly restored many to health by the Spirit's Power, yet there was never a complete removal of their other problems that would come to them later on.
So in my understanding, the root cause for our woes is simply because we live in a sin-ravaged corrupt world & living in bodies so affected. Indeed, our spirits might be renewed & refreshed by God's Spirit, & even healing can come to us during that experience & subsequent times in our lives, yet the fact remains, none of us has ever been freed from pain or calamity - Adam & Eve saw to it. And it would be nice if God would wave His Hand over us every time an impending trouble approaches us, but that doesn't happen.
Rather, for the one who has placed his trust in God through His Son, our sufferings, though just as painful as unbelievers might experience, can find a measure of relief, of joy & of perfecting that none else can receive. This is because we are His children - He cares - He gives Grace - He draws us closer to Him - He uses us for others. You can look at these few Scriptures to guide you: Romans 8:18-28; 2 Corinthians 1:3-5; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; John 16:33; Romans 4:1-5; Philippians 4:11-13. In the midst of our suffering, we can always prove the Lord sufficient & gracious to us.
I have recently been asked a question by a friend, and am having troubles with it. I do know the answer, but its very difficult to put it all into the right words.
They were wondering how we can say that God is all-loving, merciful, and gracious, but can still let bad things happen to His people.
I have heard this from others also that the 2nd born gets the most blessings. This is not so. Some 1st born gets the most and some 2nd born. Jesus was the first born. But if you think about it, when we are saved we are born again which would be our second time to be born.
Verse 19- Jacob knew that the younger of Joseph’s sons would be greater because Jehovah God is able to foretell the future and reveal it to his servants.
In a case that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Cannan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying place. Gen 49:30. There they buried Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Leah. Jacob was buried there also, Gen 30:13. Rachel was not, she was buried Ephrath the same as Bethlehem.
Abraham, Isaac, Israel, and Joseph were Prophets: the family created and chosen by God to be His own special people above all people of the earth; and through whom He would bless all nations; is the House of the Testimony of Jesus Christ; Rev. 19:10. The race of Israel was created for a sign and wonder to the world for God giving the Saviour of the world; to the Jew first, and also to the Nations.
Verse 11: Israel had an impression that his son Joseph is dead and he can't see his son no more; But God made Israel to see his not only his own son but also his children. This conveys a spiritual meaning that when we think that we have lost everything in our Life, GOD is able to not only to restore the lost one but also HE is able to give more than what we could think.
Donna, it is not true that the youngest person always get the most blessings. It is God 's providence that determine the person to receive the most blessings because he and only he knows what any person will be or become according to the use of God 's grace. Rom. 9:15 says, "For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion ". God bless us all also in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
@ Lisa: Just a word of encouragement, I'm a 35 year old man who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 5... I've dealt with this for 30 years and I'm very healthy now, in fact, my body hasn't deteriorated and they changed my diagnosis in 2004 to Becker Muscular Dystrophy because it is not as aggressive... I KNOW that God is going to heal my body completely so continue to believe for that miracle you seek and stay in the word of God, He will NEVER steer you wrong... My prayers are with you, Godspeed!!
The boy's were behind Jacob and Joseph just reposition them.
I see God's promise being fulfilled according to the time
He is using another generation to do as he said.
I also see the truth in how each of us have been chosen to serve in regards to family; community; and life.
who is 'thee' in this verse? God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh. I can not make any sense of it or find any commentary. Everyone speaks to the order only.
@Lisa. I don't know if you'll see this comment, but I also have Spinal Muscle Atrophy. I'm posting this to say: it's not hopeless; I'm an adult and still healthy. Everyone is affected differently. Just don't give up.

It was told to me one time that "God doesn't leave us but rather we leave God" we leave as in Galatians 5:15-21,
lusts of the flesh, but we also return to God as in Galatians 5:22-26 when we seek the fruits of the Spirit. I hope this helps.
