In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.John1:1And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.John1:14
dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. KJV
    I. The Warning
    a. This section of Paul’s letter to the Colossians is a warning about being drawn
    away by false teachers.
    b. Paul disposes of the Docetic theory that Jesus had no human body as well as the
Cerinthian separation between the man Jesus and the spirit of Christ.
    c. He warns them about teachers who bring deceitful notions about Christ which
    would lead believers astray.
    d. He warns about being drawn away by cheap substitutes and false notions and tells
us to stay away from anything that is not the Christ that he preaches.
    II The Superiority of Christ
    a. It pleased the Father that in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
He, as man, was not merely God-like, but GOD. Col 1:19; 1 Tim 3:16
    b. The fullness of the Godhead dwells in Christ really, and not figuratively; for he is
both God and man. Matt 1:23
    c. Paul asserts that "all that the Godhead is," not just certain aspects, dwells in Christ
and in physical form. Phil 2:6-11
    d. The fullness of the Godhead was in Christ before the Incarnation ( John 1:1); and
during the Incarnation. 1 John 1:1-3.
    e. It was the Son of God who came in the likeness of men, thus, he asserts plainly
both the deity and the humanity of Jesus Christ in corporeal form. John 3:16-1 therefore Jesus was not an angel he was better then the angels read it again Jesus was God in flesh.
Col 2:8-9 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the
tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.9 For in him
dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. KJ

I believe Hebrews 1, once again proves God's infallible love for mankind as he did in the of beginning the bible. Without apology, God expresses his love towards the human race when He said "let us make Man in Our Image" and gives them the Instruction Book (Bible)of life to teach about His character.

i believer that the book of Hebrews teach us how to believer in God
  • Ragu on Hebrews 1 - 13 years ago
I think Hebrews 1 is very useful to show me in my heart that Jesus is the Son yet God refers to him as God..... I don't need proof for my heart beliefs, but I am saddened by how many Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus is not God, and that he is Michael, the arch angel, and Hebrews 1:8 shows Jesus' deity, and Hebrews 1:13-14 differentiates between his Son and an angel. Anyways, I am not here to "prove" a point with a heart that's argumentative.... but how many JW's (obviously nearly 144 000 or many more!!!) BELIEVE MANY THINGS that are supported by their bible! If you read these very same verses in the NWT, the meaning is altered... and that is why this is so confusing. A lot of JW's are very great people, and I feel they are being led astray by an erroneous translation of the true Word of God.... any comments?

I believe some of us are more concerned with
proving a point, than loving our Lord and sharing
    His love with others.

Paul was the apostle to the gentiles but here he was speaking to his own people, the jews and expounding all things, just as Jesus did to his deciples. All word od truth was given from the beginning by God, the Holy One, thru his prophets and by direct revelation to his two greatest witnesses, Moses and Jesus. Both spoke only God's truths unadultered by a human persona. Paul was a great witness because of his learning at feet of Gamliel, he learned the Great Law, and be Revelation learned he the faithof Jesus.

I think it is like a rainbow; The triune God.
You don't call a rainbow by its individual colors, You just call all the colors in it "Rainbow" and everyone conceptually will understand what you are talking of.

God (the LORD) call Jesus God(Lord), like David said: my LORD told my Lord sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. Jesus also was made a little lower than the Angeles but after he is risen to heaven He is made higher than the angels only God the Father is greater than Him, both God in unity of spirit (in mind), God the Father and God the son, all the blessing be to both of them forever and ever.

Where in the bible do you find the word "trinity"?

    Not there, sorry
The bible says "I and my father are one"
"When you've seen me, you've seen the the father"
    "I am the I am"
  • Jlover on Hebrews 1:8 - 13 years ago
i think this is clear that Jesus is the Son of God and God himself(God Head). This is one of many scriptures in the bible which supports Jesus is the God

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son (So God speaks to us by his Son, Jesus, not by himself) , whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

    3 Who being the brightness of [his] (God's) glory, and the express image of his person (God and Jesus look perfectly alike, but are still seperate physical beings) , and upholding all things by the word of his (God's) power, when he (Jesus) had by himself (Jesus) purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty (God) on high;
(So Jesus Sit's on the right hand of God. Can one sit besides oneself?)

4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he (Jesus) hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For unto which of the angels said he (God) at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? (So God will be a Father to Christ, and Christ will be his Son. again, not the same person)

6 And again, when he (God) bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God (Because we all belong to God the Eternal Father, not Christ) worship him.

7 And of the angels he (God) saith, Who maketh his (Jesus) angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. (So Jesus makes the Angels God gives him into Spirits and the ministers a flame of fire. Flame of fire meaning the burn bright, that the light of Christ is visible through their countenance)

8 But unto the Son [he saith (God Speaking)], Thy throne, O God (Jesus is referred to as the God of Israel), [is] for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God (God the Eternal Father), [even] thy God (Again, this is God the Eternal Father, he is Jesus's God too...), hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord (Jesus), in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (So God laid down the plan, but it was Christ the Lord God of Israel who actually did the work required to follow God's plan)

So... they are seperate beings... Sorry dudes. That doesn't prove the trinity...
  • Bon Russell on Hebrews 1:8 - 14 years ago
I think that is shows Christ's devinity. That Jesus is God the Son, said so by God the Father. I think this verse and ones like it, make it easy to further understand The Holy Trinity.

these messangers are swift as the wind in the shape of a tornado dancing across the earths crust at approx. 200 mph and its only when these angels come to a stop is when they take on this fiery flame shaped figure as that of a man which stands about 50 ft. tall. Thats exactly how I saw it on that morning of 05/25

His breathe still softly, on me blows.
His strength still grows, in me, whom he chose.
    Sometimes... close so. But always.
My Jesus, breathe so sweet, my yoke not now
    so... heavy.
I will follow You always, I love you so.

I thank God for his word. God will not lead
us astray for he has given us a guide on how
we ought to live our lives. Our lives are not
our own but his to command that our actions may
glorify him. I pray for all of you that are lost
and to all who are not that you may come to know
Christ and continue to have faith and trust in God.
God loves you and so do I my brothers and sisters in
    Christ.

JEHOVAH'S wITNESSES SAY jESUS IS mICHAEL THE
ARCHANGLE. hEBREWS PROVES THAT NOT SO BY THE
WORDS OF SCRIPTURE. 1 JOHN 1 DOES NOT HAVE AN 'A'
BEFORE 'GOD' AS THEY CLAIM EITHER.
