This scripture reminds me of who I am and who I belong to, and what Christ did for me. I cannot get lost in the things of this world and the lust of my flesh, but I must diligently seek him and put God first in every thing I do.
Verse 18: I have a heartfelt gratitude to the Lord for this. He knows that we will be tried with temptations, yet he is right there beside us and even became as a man and was tempted as one of us. This is so powerful to me.
About verse 9, yes indeed he was a little bit lowered than angels in physical form, only as he was a man (for all the fullness of the God head dwelleth in him). He was the word that became flesh and the word was God) to offer his life for my sins and all mankind’s. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving such a wretched like me.
"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for suffering death." The whole reason He was made a little lower than the angels was for suffering of death. Only in bodily form, in the likeness of man, complete with a central nervous system and limited by mortality can one suffer, and die.
Jesus became a man, so that he could taste death for every man by the grace of God. We must be careful not to drift away, because there is only one name given unto man where by we must be saved, and that name is Jesus. Jesus learned obedience by the things he suffered, even the death on the cross. He is our perfect, and merciful high priest who intercedes for us in heaven before the Father. We no longer have to fear death, because Jesus destroyed the devil who had the power of death when He rose from the dead the third day. Victory is ours, and one day Jesus will sing our name before his saints in heaven. Thank God for your suffering, for we too will be perfected by the things we suffer for Christ. We are blessed we are free to worship the Lord without fear. Yet persecution is coming, and we too may have to lay down our lives for the Gospel. May the Lord give us the grace when that time comes, and may we say into thy hands I commit my spirit.
Hebrews chapter 2, spells out for us the significance God has placed on our being saved by the blood of the lamb. Given the obedience that Jesus confered to us in doing what he did not have to, knowing the cost and sacrifice that awaited him took on a task that no man could begin to understand; gave His life that we might live and not only live but in the by and by get to see not only He who made us but also the Father.
By reading this Holy writ, it clearly defines the role of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the World. JESUS was a man and He was a Lamb. It Was God or Jehovah manifested n the flesh. God n flesh.
Here, Paul is affirming the human quality of Jesus, though virgin both, accepts his lineage through his father Joseph, as stated in Matthew 3 and lived a life on earth, a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, but given a much elevated station by his merit on earth by God the Father when he proclaimed in the Cloud, thou art my beloved Son, Hear him for my truths come thru him, indeed
I think that HEBREWS tells who JESUS was that he was god in the flash that God spoke in the begining and his word became his beloved son and that he love us so much that he sent his only begotten son to come has his word to do that witch no man could do and that was to give his life that we could have life everylasting bless his name the book of HEBREWS tell's it all..
I think that this chapter clearly shows us that Jesus was God and man.
But for the love that he had for man kind chose to walk in the first man Adam and be tempted in all manners of temptatios, that he could understand what we would go through, and be able to succour us in our temptations.
This is both infinitely beautiful and infinitely terrifying (take note, Carl Robert Halling): Hebrews 2:3: How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation...
