this shows that your work or labour in Christ is never in vain for God is not unrighteous to forget our sweat and love in his name because our end is the glory of the Lord
Hebrews 6:12.Is telling us that we can not put GOD in a hurry to do that which HE has promised. So beloved let's learn how to wait upon the LORD.GOD BLESS.
I dont understand the laying on of hands meaning i know some think its still being done today in the same pretense of healing as in the old prophets and disciples although i know all is is possible if God permits it but i dont think He does so my ? is where does it say in the Bible that this is still available today or does it i am just wanting to expand my knowledge of Gods word
This Hebrew 6:17 reiterates the faithfulness of God.God understands our frame that we are just humans. He gave us a tangible evidence so that we can believe his counsel. He swore to an oath- what a great God!
I like B.J. Manuel's comment. It is very encouraging to know that the acts of loyalty I give to God are not in vain, and He is taking note of it. As verse 9 says, we are awaiting the promise of something better.
listen, read romans 8:35-39.you will see GOD was talking about the Hebrews who went back to the old worship.Richard we all fall short, thats why GOD gives us GRACE!!!!!
this p***age implies that someone can be santcified, like in hebrews 10, and then commit apostacy after recieving the Holy Ghost and tasting his glory that can be described in Ezekiel 2:28 thus coming to know him( 2 peter 2 :20). hence you can lose your salvation.
We do not have a right to have our own thought of what the truth means in the bible so many times we want something to mean something that caters to our beliefs to justify our lives only Jesus can do that and he did that on the cross sometimes we want something to mean something beside what it really means because it goes against what we believe and says we cant do what we wanna do and go to heaven Hebrews 6 6 plainly states what it means its not a parable how do u get saved by believing confessing and repenting turning from sin so it talks about renewin again unto repentance that's plain to see not being mean but we shouldn't have to ask what it means its plainly written yes I wanna wonder cause it plainly states that I can fall away from my salvation and the only way to renew it is to crucify the old flesh to the cross again and bring me to open shame we have to confess our faults one to another and to God and he shall be just and forgive us of them
This scripture states there is an impossibility: for those who were once enlightened, who have tasted of the heavenly gift, and who were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come, IF THEY SHALL FALL AWAY, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh and put him to an open shame. They heard the gospel, but did not really hear. They tasted but did not eat, they learned of God's future, but did not believe it, they partook of what the Holy Spirit offered but did not accept. These Hebrews who would or could go back to worshipping under the old covenant were showing their inferior faith. Hebrews states over and over that Jesus is better than the angels, Moses, sacrifices, etc. To be able to go back to false worship indicates they were never really believers. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and another they will not follow."
I believe every word that it says, but what it did not say was that your brothers and sisters in christ would not forget. so why does it hurt so bad to get judas kissed,or in short for what you've done to be forgotten or overlooked.maybe it's just me.
Timothy Wayne George on Hebrews 6:20 - 11 years ago
Jesus is an eternal High Priest after the order of Melchizedek who had neither beginning of days or ending of days. Jesus the second member of the Godhead occupies three offices: Prophet, Priest, and King. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, performing his High Priest duties, and He will come back as the King of Kings, and Lord or Lords. So He is not the same as Melchizedek, but like him. Study Hebrews 7:1-10 to learn more.
I understand Melchisedec was an actual literal king that helped Abraham when he returned from a battle, but does this verse use Melchisedec as Jesus Christ Our Lord? Please can anyone help thanks.
The sin of those in the wilderness was unbelief, this is the only unpardonable sin not homosexuality backsliding or anything else those are personal sins but unbelief is something different it is the same as calling God a liar.
@Eileen,
If you are truly born again then there is no way you can commit unpardonable, because both are mutually exclusive.
“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not” I John 5:18. The sin that it is about here is the unpardonable. Just as its name says, unpardonable sin cannot be forgiven.
So all sin that can be forgiven is not unpardonable.
Believe me, you never committed that kind of sin.
Because as born again Christians, you and I are fortunate that through the blood of Christ, we have been excluded from committing unpardonable sin.
God bless you.
I'm still struggling to understand it because I was born-again, filled with the spirit, and thought I had committed the unpardonable sin, but Jesus forgave me! Praise His Holy Name!
Satan, the Devil, is sometimes able to make Christians feel like their labor for God is useless, unappreciated, and that they are going nowhere. This verse assures me that righteous deeds done to the glory of God the Father through Christ are never forgotten of God. They always have value with the Lord. The verse reminds me of 1Corinthians 15:58 which states, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." We need to keep on plowing and planting the gospel. In God's own good time He will give a bountiful crop to His glory. It is also like God is saying "Thank You" and keep up the good work. Something wonderful is coming your way.
Answering Richards question a year ago. Richard, b carful, God is All mercifull, and we live n the dispensation of Grace, but Grace does not give u the license to Sin. There will b a line where God draws, where there's no more forgiveness, but no1 knows the exact line. These scriptures are not refering to a backslider, remember the prodical son? Sometimes we get weak, and slip up like David, but he REPENTED. Repentace means a 180 turn around from ur previous lifestyle. This scripture is refering to Homosexuals, and other Christains that were once living straight and felt and rec the Holy Ghost, and denied JESUS an a apostate, denounced God and served themselves or another god, as Budah, allah and etc....
as a kid growing up,situations arose where a friend might be lying to me ,but not sure.we would say,"HONEST TO GOD" to each other and out of a fear of GOD,would have to fess up.sound familiar?this helps me in this verse.pray im not wrong.
ask JESUS TO MAKE ME aware of the enemies strategies and give me the strength not to fall into them.i am taking special care to my thoughts as i go through the day.i dont like where my head is some of the time.especially when i rehearse in my mind what im going to say to someone.i can really get worked up over that.makes me mad i dont catch myself sooner but it gets better over time...
There are 2 books in the bible that most church leaders, preachers, and teachers had just as soon not 'go there'.. Genesis chapters 1-6; Hebrews... both can be too controversial for many.
Once one is 'born again', they are a babe in Christ.. but God does not want one to stay a babe: ( Heb 5:13For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age,..) God wants does not want us to forget the principles of the doctrine of Christ, but He wants us to grow to maturity and perfection by studying to be doers of His Word and not hearers only.
Many do not understand ( Heb 5:4-6= 4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.) Only those that come to maturity and come to know The Holy Ghost personally are in danger of blaspheming against Him. [I am speaking of those that are baptized in the Holy Ghost].
( Luke 12:10= And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.) A babe in Christ is not going to know enough about the Holy Ghost [the third person of the Trinity] to speak evil against Him...
The more mature we are in Christ, the more Christ can use us. At the same time, the more mature we are in Christ, the more liable we are for our actions..
Anyone that 'feels' the convicting power of God dealing with them when they sin or get out of God's will, is a child of God..
A lost person can not commit the unpardonable sin; they are already lost.. only a saved person can commit this sin against the Holy Ghost...
Once you confess your sins and leave them at his feet and do not go back and pick them up he will and dose forgive us. We have to be fully cencer to GOD as well as to ourselves GOD is merciful and his word dose not come back void,we have to stead fast in HIS word and STAND on it and truly believe it eat it daily our flesh dies daily with OUR FATHERS word in us. This is how we fight the enemy. ALWAYS lay before him always read EPHESIANS 6 putting on the whole armour of GOD and know HE dose LOVE us be blessed
Paul remember is speaking to his own people, the Hebrews, the children of Abraham, who was bless by Melchisadec, who actually was not different than our own High Priest, Jesus. The child of promise was of course Issac in whom was God seed thus named. God fulfulls his promises and bless those who commit to Him, and that commitment must be absolutely true. Is there anything hidden from God? Brothers and Sisters, bretheren learn from our Father, the Holy one, blessed be He, for he has succored us in all things. Is there anything left out of the Bible that is necessary for our Salvation?
i have read this for the first time last night
and was greatly troubled because i accepted jesus
at 10 and sined and fallen till about a month ago.
last night i read this in the niv book and wonderd if it was too late i constantly struggle with sin and i ask everyday for forgiveness
i hope the lord understands and has pataince
with me because im trying to live a godly life
but im not doing to well but i will never give up
the good fight even when i am losing i hope the lord will help me with this struggle
I think that paul is talking about christians that have lost their faith and hope and have drifted so far from god that they no longer feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and therefore have fallen from grace beyond repentance.
I CAN ONLY SPEAK FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE AND POWER OF THE CROSS. REFERRING TO HEBREWS 6:4-8. THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE. IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS , HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE OUR SIN AND CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. WHEN THE WOMAN WAS FOUND IN ADULTREY AND WAS ABOUT TO BE STONED, JESUS FORGAVE HER AND SAID GO AND SIN NO MORE. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO WORK OUT OUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING BECAUSE WE DESERVE DEATH. THE PROCESS OF BEING CLEANSED AND FREE FROM SIN IS A LIFETIME WORK WITH JESUS AS A CO-LABORERE WITH US. RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE. RESIST MEANS TO DAILY PRAY FOR FREEDOM,OUR ATTITUDE SHOULD BE TO GARD THE AVENUES WHEREBY SATAN TEMPS US.THE SIX SENSES ARE THE AVENUES BY WHICH SATAN GAIN ACCESS TO TEMP US AND KEEP US IN SIN. GUARD WHAT YOU SEE, WHAT YOU HEAR, WHAT YOU TOUCH, WHAT YOU SMELL,AND WHAT YOU TASTE. TELEVISION IS ONE OF THE MEDIUMS SATAN USED TO TEMP US. EXAMPLE, IF YOURE A LUSTFUL PERSON AND YOURE A FORNCATOR, DONT WATCH PORNO,BEAUTY PADGENTS,THE KORDASHINS,DONT READ LOVE STORYS OR NOVELS,DONT WATCH TYRA BANKS,THESE WILL AROUSE YOUR CARNAL NATURE FOR SATAN USES IT TO DESTROY US. THUS KEEPING US IN BONDAGE. I DIE DAILY, KEEPING MY CARNAL NATURE UNDER CONTROL WITH HELP FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT. AVOID GOING PLACES THAT YOU KNOW WILL HENEDER YOUR GROWTH.
