Jessie, it is generally accepted that approximately 400 years spanned the time between Malachi and Matthew. In this time, various Periods were identified that affected Israel. And these are: The Achaemenid Period (450-330 BC); Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic Period (330-166 BC); The Hasmonean Period (166-63 BC); The Roman Period (63 BC-birth of Christ & beyond).
It would be a great task to presently examine these periods of time, so if you do a Web search, you will learn more to satisfy your knowledge.
Vs. 15 shows that nothing can be hid from God. Thinking back on so many people that have had plans schemed against them, it is comforting to know that God can bring justice. Justice doesn't always come by human sources. People who scheme evil in the dark should know that what comes around goes around.
"..WITH THEIR LIPS DO HONOR ME BUT HAVE REMOVED THEIR HEART FROM ME AND THEIR FEAR TOWARD ME IS TAUGHT BY THE PRECEPT OF MEN.." Greek hupokrites; (from hupokrinmai; to decide (speak or act) under a false part); an actor under an assumed character (stage-player), i.e. (fig.) a dissembler (one who hides under a false appearance to conceal facts, intentions, or feelings under some pretense) HYPOCRITE
Verse 13 shows how the people claimed to love God, but in reality they were only giving lip service. We must show our love for God by our actions and we must truly love God within our hearts.
i just listened 2 it; and i love it. those that murmured will learn doctrine. i think that will be done as we all pray for, thy will be done on earth as in Heaven; and eyes will open and understanding will be there, of course; and we all shall understand then if we do not know; of course, because we all shall be like we are in Heaven; and maybe we will be there. I may not understd but I love it
Ariel is the ancient name of Jerusalem. In Hebrew the name Jacob means both he will prevent and he will delay. It also can mean he will follow like a detective tracking. In Genesis 32 29 Jacob is given a new name...Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel for thou hast fought with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Why do you people like to force your own interpretation to the bible? Yet you are quick to say that the bible has been corrupted, but whatever verse seems like a verse you can manipulate to your own destruction has not been manipulated? How on earth can you not read the preceeding verses and subsequent versesin context to understand what Isaiah is saying? He talked about the learned and also the unlearned. He was not talking about a supposed prophet that is to come outside of the Jewish people to get a fictitious book. Wake up from your slumber!
I am not sure that is why I was searching information on it, I was informed that Isaiah 29 12 was referring to Joseph Smith. The book would be delivered to Joseph Smith.
One of the things that come to mind with this scripture is that lets say a man is giving a sermon and he says something that is somewhat incorrect or you disagree and find fault with the speaker. I had done this in the past and totally missed the subject matter of the sermon. Recall he that has eyes to see and ears to hear. Bill
Let clear 2 u dat d message in d bible is nt secretive as contain in 2nd peter chapter 1 vs 20 which says first of all you must understand dis dat no prophesy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, why u pple are tryn 2 mislead others , dis very chapter Isaiah 29:12 prophecies d coming of d gr8 prophet which wil nt learn 4rm anybody bt 4rm God, as mentioned in d lost book of d bible nd 4getn book of eden chapter 20 vs 1-9 I quote there was also at Jerusalem one man named Zaccheus who was a school master, nd he said to Joseph, Joseph why dost thou nt sent Jesus to me dat he may learn his letter? Joseph agreed nd told St Mary; so they brought him (Jesus) to d master who as soon as he saw him says Aleph, Beth even jesus refuse 2 pronounce beth he was threatened 2 whip, nd after dat Jesus began clearly nd distinctly to say Aleph, Beth, Gimel, Daleth nd so on to d end of alphabet.
Isaiah 29 11-12 speaks to me as Jeremiah 31-31 if you can read and understand, God has written it on your heart, God searches the heart not tongues, as in lip service.
Comment on Verse 12... There is a similar verse in Islam also. When the Quran was being revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), he was asked to read it and the Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied that he can not read.
People need to read the other verses around this one to understand it better. It talks about that the people, both learned or unlearned, will have a vision since the book is sealed. Meaning that the real book will come to them in spirit, in their heart rather than as words on a scroll book.
This verse reflects lip service. Not a true heart for our Lord and savior. Churchs are full of people who have not sold themselves out for God. As the rich man who asks Christ...I have kept the commandments, what must I do to inherit eternal life? CHRIST said...Sell everything and follow me. Give everything to Christ. Don't be a make believer but a true follower of Christ.

Whenever the words "in that Day" are used in the Bible, that denotes the last days just before the Messiah sets up His Kingdom. Jesus said on the Sermon on the Mount, the meek shall inherit the earth, and that is when this prophecy will be fulfilled. Right now the nation of Israel is blinded to the gospel, but in that day they will have a clear saving knowledge of the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light, no man comes to the Father except by Jesus.
@Umar Janyau,
This chapter is a series of prophecies about Israel forgetting the Lord God in walking away from his word and how Israel would consequently suffer oppression from its foes. But ultimately, the Lord Jehovah would repay Israel’s oppressors and redeem Israel.
Most of such prophecies were fulfilled in the course of time and have been written to our learning, so that we may place our faith not in ourselves, but in God.
Just like Israel’s prosperity and freedom were conditioned on their relationship with Jehovah, so are ours today too as Christians, our prosperity and freedom are conditioned on our good is relationship with Jehovah God, through Christ Jesus, Romans 15:4-7.
God bless you.
First of all the bible was the book of Jesus, and when God sent him to Israel. So how ever the Christian leaders tried to hide the truth. They can’t because they are human pin and they are powerless because God, the creator is more powerful. There is no one like a God from the heaven to the earth. So this chapter is truth I believe anyone who wants to know the truth can see there is a real God which is powerful an merciful.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE FASLE PROPHET muhammad..--. Using a potion of Mathew Henerys Commentary-The learned men, through prejudice, said that the Divine prophecies were obscure; and the poor urged their want of learning. The Bible is a sealed book to every man, learned or unlearned, till he begins to study it with a SIMPLE HEART and a TEACHABLE SPIRIT, that he may thence learn the truth and the will of God. To worship God, is to approach him. And if the heart be full of his love and fear, out of the abundance of it the mouth will speak; but there are many whose religion is lip-labour only. Tis the reason for the next verse #13 "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men".. I would like to say, Take Jesus in your own Heart and lay low and humble at His feet alway and he will recieve you unto himself. May the Lord Jesus be with you all.. Amen
This verse is the prophecy of the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as that what typically happened to prophet Muhammad when the arch-angel Gabriel first come to him and ordered him to read but the prophet said I am not learned then the angel prompt him. Please believe in Islam before the Judgement Day!!!
I will not deny that though you are perverse I God allowed according to the potential of the will such possible actions. Nor do I deny that I created potential for such a perverse mind to evolve. MIV
