"For when he saw the Lord he saw also himself and in the light of the Lord said " woe is me for I am undone .."
Many claim to see the Lord or have visions but are not changed for the better but rather only boast in their visions and revelations .Isiah felt unclean unholy and unfit " a man of unclean lips "
Isiah though indeed a true prophet of God changed considerably when in " the year king huziah died he saw the Lord high and lifted up and his train filled the temple"
For when he saw the Lord he saw also himself and in the light of the Lord said " woe is me for I am undone .."
Many claim to see the Lord or have visions but are not changed for the better but rather only boast in their visions and revelations .Isiah felt unclean unholy and unfit " a man of unclean lips "
Who needed a burning coal from off the altar to cleanse them . The lips are very tender think on that.
He confessed his sin ,was contrite and only then commissioned .
His messages after that radically changed .
You cannot be sent by God unless you have been to or encountered God .
For you no longer go in your own name but in the name who sent you .
Not to do your will but the will of Him who sent you .
This is not self appointed nor is it imposed .
For how can the list be saved? Unless they hear the message? And how will they hear the message unless it is preached?
Who then will go for us?
Confession ,contrition commission .
"Send me "
"Go in this Thy might "" you might say .
I came not to do my will but the will of Hom that sent me".
He that seeks his own glory is unrighteous but he that seeks the glory of him that sent him.."
Yep, and a special commission at that ; without going into great detail , Isaiah volunteered for this commission upon hearing the Lords voice from the temple . when being cleansed, purified , purged and atoned from all his iniquity/sins he was to tell or inform the people of Judah and Israel who have and have not the eyes to see and ears to hear of the coming of the false messiah, his deception and it's desolation . those who are blinded to the truth , their hearts will remain or grow duller to it , a slumber so to speak . many are put their by God for their protection but ultimately come out of it in the end when the elect as you read in verse 13 a tenth of who's leaves are cast upon us that remain , the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. fascinating
In the year Uzziah died Isaiah saw the Lord in a light he had never seen Him before, seeing himself in a new brighter light, causing him to repent in a way he have never before done. Christians should desire to see Jesus in a brighter light than before also, giving them greater appreciation for the Lord than they had before.
This scripture in verses 9 through 11 echoes the gospels where Christ states that things were told in parables so that only those who were "as a little child" would understand (see parallel verse in Mark 4:12). This passage in Isaiah is alluding to the nation of Israel in general. Verse 11 shows a diaspora in the land; perhaps indicative of Old Testament events; but certainly also indicating AD 70 and the future dispersion in the Tribulation. There will be a final remnant as verse 13 indicates of the "holy stump" which Daniel also uses to refer to God's people in the last days who remain. If we reverse the order of this chapter and now go to verses 1 through 6; we see the real cause of the problems for those who were in Israel at that time; the lack of fear of the presence of the Lord in their lives. Daniel also offers a similar plea when he realizes the plight of the Jews in Daniel 9. The seraphim and heavenly creatures in Revelation 4:6 -8 and Ezekiel chapter 1 and other places are pictures of the same 6 winged creatures (the Cherubim have 4 wings as stated in Ezekiel 1:6; and four faces (one on each side) as demonstrated here and Revelation 4:7). Anyone having a genuine vision of the Lord would respond in a similar manner; being prostrate and totally undone. Judgments will wake up some but sadly others who are unregenerate simply will be hardened further in their rebellion against God.
Thanks man of God for insights of the scripture. Many have preached wrongly on this passage to make people think that uzzziah death is what made Isaiah to know God
Thank you Peter - well written. I've often wondered why people sometimes corrupt the intent of Scripture in the way they do. The passage is plain: Isaiah received the vision of the Lord & Heaven in that year of Uzziah's death. And since Isaiah lived through the reigns of the earlier kings of Judah (Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz & Hezekiah), it seems that this could have been one of his earlier visions recorded. And of course, Uzziah died, probably from leprosy ( 2 Chronicles 26:18-21), so that would have been a momentous occasion both in Judah's history & as a notable date used by Isaiah for giving his revelation.
To reconstruct this passage to infer that it speaks of 'one's own Uzziah dying first before we can have a vision of Heaven', is to do great disservice to the Scripture & opens the way for innocent unlearned believers to continue to look at the Word is such a distorted manner. Maybe Bible teachers are becoming weary of teaching passages of Scripture over & over again - so dishing out something like this becomes a revelation to the hearers & lifts the teacher up another notch for his wisdom. Tragic.
I want to state that Isaiah 6:1 where Isaiah refered to King Uzziah year of death has not impact or significance to him seeing God.He marely refered to the year the invent happened. The death of uzzziah did not cause Isaiah to see God.In the past major invents like wars, famines , deaths of very important people were used to point people to when that invent happened. So those that say your uzzziah must die in life for you to see or God to bless you are only miss interpreting scriptures and must go back and read the first sentence of the scripture
It good when you read the Bible and move by the mystery that works in it.
As I read this Isaiah 6 I believe that my sin are forgiven because I believe that the hand of God has touched my heart and mouth, and the mystery of touching their mouths was because the cry holy holy is the Lord of host,so acknowledge God as I am that I am then that is the point that you too will touch the hearts of God for cleansing
Roman's 6:23a, for the wages of sin is death. The penalty for a "small" or a "large" sin is the same. The conclusion, death is the penalty, validates the thesis. All sin is equal.
The Scripture that comes to mind is in James 2:10, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." And when I think of "the Law", I read it as Jesus' amplification to what was earlier given by God to Moses & to Israel: the full, proper meaning of the Law (e.g. Matthew 5:21-32).
So James is stating that even if one could truly keep all of God's Laws, but failed to do so in one small point, it is regarded as being guilty of the whole Law. And this was so, because God's Laws, by design, was to show that man is a sinner & by committing even one sin, his heart is affected & corrupted with the virus of sin that permeates throughout his being, affecting every part of him.
In this passage in Matthew, Jesus is speaking about judgement, specifically of judging one another. In verse 3, the challenge is to those (maybe most of us), who are quick to judge someone else, before first considering whether we are without sin & qualified to do so. So the "mote in thy brother's eye" speaks about us finding a small dry stalk (Gk. karphos) of sin in another person, when there is very likely a "beam" (Gk. dokon, a log, a timber beam) that is prominent in our own lives. The fact that Jesus picks upon the eye as the target, suggests that we stare at the person with conviction & judgement, finding fault based on our own perceptions, rather than closing our eyes & having a good look at ourselves first before speaking & casting judgement.
And to make matters worse, that judgemental person even has the gall to suggest that he helps the other one to remove that sin from him, when rather, he should attend to his own faults first (vv 4,5). And to this sin, the Jewish leaders were guilty of. An old story shows this truth clearly:
"A small-town baker bought his butter from a local farmer. One day he weighed the butter and concluded that the farmer had been reducing the amount in the packages but charging the same price. So the baker accused the farmer of fraud & took him to court.
In court the judge asked the farmer, "Do you have measuring weights?" "No sir," replied the farmer.
"How then do you manage to weigh the butter that you're selling to others?"
The farmer answered, "When the baker began buying his butter from me, I thought, 'that's nice of him - I'd better get my bread from him'. So I have been using his one pound loaf as the weight for the butter I sell. Sir, if the weight of the butter is wrong, he has only himself to blame & the error does not lie with me." I think you get Jesus' message to us.
An angel came to me as a child! Called my name twice as if he was standing right next to me! I was 5 then and now 57. Jesus Christ has always been before time itself! All shall give Him the honor, glory, praise, for there is no other name on earth or heaven then Jesus Christ, for He made all things possible in this life and for the eternal life that I hope I am worthy of only by His will will I be with Him forever!!! Every knee shall bow at His second coming and remember Jesus Christ will come, with His Holy Angels!! Our hearts shall rejoice with for all eternity!!!!! Selah!!!
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. ( Psalm 119:9)
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. ( 1 Corinthians 6:11)
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. ( 2 Corinthians 7:1)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. ( James 4:7-10)
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. ( 1 John 1:7-10)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, ( Revelation 1:5)
No such thing as a rapture in word or event in the Bible, it's all false teaching !
The actual event is the coming of the Lord after Antichrist is destroyed by God on day of the lord .
They been saying this rapture will happen any day now for well over a 100 yrs , even setting dates . Run from any teachings of Hagge or the likes of him !
And the Spirit and the bride say , Come . And let him that heareth say, Come . And let him that is athirst come . And whosoever will let him take the water of life freely !
I remember reading this many years ago and I knew I was invited . Do you hear the invitation dear reader ?
God does not harden our hearts. We do it. Every time Jesus knocks on the door of your heart.... and YOU do not open to Him; your heart gets harder, and harder and harder UNTIL finally you don't even open to see who's there.
The rapture happens in an eye blink. You will miss out and be left here with danger you could not possibly imagine, calculate or endure.
No one wants to say it but I will. Our House of Representatives are mostly sold out on bringing in the system that will welcome Antichrist. Who is a smooth talking, charismatic murderer, underneath that skin.
All touchy, feely, but he's going to turn into a broad daylight monster. Don't be deceived. That's my take on it.
Be born again and learn as fast as you can.
Receive the Holy Spirit. He's your Teacher.
You don't need any man/woman to teach you; save the Holy Spirit. Problem is we have to turn off media, get quiet and listen for his Voice. Ok?
Despite media harassment and from everyone else, listen to a few recent prophetic teachings by John Hagee. He uses scripture. He's not a false prophet. Although I'm fond of Dwight Thompson who's older now; but he's still got that fire.
Iverna THOMPKINS is deceased now but ladies that feel called to prophesy (Book of Joel); listen to them on YouTube.
Get excited folks. Jesus is coming any time now. :)
Jesus said : except God the father draw a man ( person ) they can not come to him (Jesus ) .
God is sovereign and knows everything, He will not torment people if they choose to evade him . Men naturally do not want to approach the light , it reveals their sinfulness . And is terrifying without knowing that Gods mercy can be found .
God alone decides on whom he bestows His mercy . And He desires mercy before judgement, because His Love is who He is at heart . He has no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked , they just will never come to repentance . Gods way . The Bible has all the answers!
Many comments are very good and reading the different perceptions/interpretations of God's word helps me to understand. Also, I find many times I never considered the scripture from that angle.
It is very difficult to look at or consider perceptions when you have never experienced it. (ie. I was born American in a free country with lots of freedom to express ideas or concepts). For me, it is difficult to understand living under a king or dictator. Also suffering and tribulations that exist around the world and in the past. I hope that statement does not offend anyone.
This site is very good and useful. Having that said, I wish they would allow you to view a particular topic/thread better. Most of the time comments are locked.
I study the Bible and the comments for edification and to progress from being a babe unto meat as the apostle Paul instructs us to.
Yes Lynn, it should be "feet" in the descriptions of the Seraphims. Maybe, it was a typo that was not properly proof-read before going to print. Also, (and I know you've not asked this), be wary of translations that are not faithful to the original manuscripts. I'm not aware of the translation you mentioned, but we do know that many translations have altered words or even omitted words to suit their whims & fancies. You would be on the right path with the King James Version (translated from faithful manuscripts), though if reading it becomes difficult, then the New King James or New American Standard Bible are preferable to the others. As well, if you don't understand something you read and if you are a believer in Christ, then His Spirit will help you to understand. Also, you can write here & someone will guide you.

Here in Ch 6, after King Uzziah died you have the call and commission of Isaiah to the office of the prophets.
In verse 8 he answers the call. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I,
(Here am I; send me.)
GBU.
