Wheb Job was restored did God give him a new wife?
  • GiGi - In Reply on Job 2 - 2 years ago
Thanks T. Levis. I agree that Job was well into adulthood with adult children, so He must have been over 50 at least. But He could have been over 100 or 200 since Job is believed to have lived before Abraham when people lived into the 200's We just do not know. He did end up fathering more children and saw them grow up to adulthood, so I think He was between 50 and 120 or so. a pretty broad range, but Abraham had many children by Keturah after Sarah died when He was over 130 years olde and saw these children grow into adulthood.

The question on Job's age was asked just the other day. I hadn't noticed his age before or during his trials, nor any significant reason to know it. We understand Job to be a grown man with adult children during the onset of his trials. The seemingly significant part about his age is the last. Job 42:12-17,

Who were called the sons of God that came before God when satan attended
  • Nya on Job 2:7 - 3 years ago
what does this above scripture mean by ''Satan smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.''?
  • Mishael - In Reply on Job 2:9 - 4 years ago
You are so right. A lady was asking me what happened to Jobs wife. She told Job to curse God and die; and nothing else.
  • Frank Garcia - In Reply on Job 2:9 - 4 years ago
We are equal in Gods eyes man or women we are all part of Gods family and we are equal in God's Grace we all live in accord in Gods love . bless you.
  • Women in the Bible - In Reply on Job 2:9 - 4 years ago
Personally, I think that Proverbs 31 woman, Esther, and Mary(mother of Jesus), are much better short list, representations of womanhood. Even Mary Magdalene with her checkered past (forgiven by Jesus), was brave in many ways.

If you read to the end of Job, you'll see that God replaced what Job had at first, that was lost; and was multiplied by God to Job.

There's many brave women in the Bible, as life examples. With Deborah, God couldn't find a man to stand up and speak out; so He chose a woman to get Israel in a forward motion.

Look carefully at all genealogy lists. Women's names recorded mean something.

A Bible with 'Center of each Page' reference columns (has the tiny abc notes intermingled in the verses), point to like or additional information on what you are reading; prophesies too. It gives you the whole picture. Sometimes you can Google a chapter and Verse to read Commentaries, scholars have written. Avoid Wikipedia.

Why is there no more information about Job's wife? And how should we consider her comments in our Christians raise as women?

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

In all of he troubles job remains faithly, never cursing god
  • Sandy on Job 2 - 5 years ago
In the face of it all Job worshipped! He knew that his Redeemer lived, I am so glad that the Bible clearly teaches that this is NOT the only life and we too can stand in our faith thru the trials that come to us until we see our Lord in His Kingdom. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!!

Hold on to integrity. Anyone telling you to lose it is talking foolishness.

    James Bible mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

    Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me

    Matthew 16:25
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it

Verse 11~These three companions of Job had in mind to comfort Job, but instead when they arrived they discouraged him. If we have the objective of comforting others, we must choose our words carefully.
  • To Jeanie who went to the beach. on Job 2 - 6 years ago
Jeanie your testimony is so special to me. You are really one of God's children. You knew who to blame for your suffering. Though God allowed this to happen you passed the test with flying colors.

It's really sad how easily it is for the enemy to get us distracted from the Spirit's speaking to us through the Scriptures, by causing accusations and tempers to fly! Here is such a tremendously important Word of God; and the devil just has to rattle one or two up; and the blessing is gone! Please, Oh PLEASE, Brethren; try to care a little less about your precious feelings, and allow forgiveness!
  • A disciple on Job 2 - 7 years ago
Some say that it was the holy angels; assuming that this was something that was done in heaven. But WE are the children of God especially who are born from above Believers in Jesus, and originally made to be His children. So when we come to present ourselves before the LORD in our worship and prayers and Bible study; this scenario likewise appears: as the devil comes to slander, Jesus intercedes.

In 2012 I went to the beach 2 years after the bp spill. I got sores all over my body. Being a diabetic my foot got seriously bad. But all through that I never ince blamed God. I knew who to blame. In January 2015 to April 2016 I had 6 major surgeries. It was because of God i got through it all. It reminded me of Job. Faith gets you through it. God is love. Satan is pain.

Irene 123,Surprised?You are surprised at something you yourself wrote"It's very depressing" "in a negative way".These are your words,in addition to your question. You made a judgment and you are unable to accept it.As you said"it is as I intended".
No confusion,if there is judgment I can determine it's justification. You assume I look for judgement, and my walk is like yours, you assume much.
  • Irene123 on Job 2 - 7 years ago
LU2677- I was surprised you took my comment as negative; I simply asked a question; there was no judgment in it. There is so much judgment on here that I think maybe we are 'expecting it - when there is none; and that's not good in our Christian walk. I re-read my message, and there was no judgment in it. I th'ot maybe I hadn't said it right, but it's as I intended it. I'm sorry for the confusion.
  • Lu2677 on Job 2 - 7 years ago
Irene 123,I did not quote Job 7:3 with a bad motive or in the context of my physical situation. My post was answering how long Job suffered his affliction, asked earlier by someone. You judged it as "negative".You judge God's word as "depressing." Do you always give the outcome of every verse you quote?Almost impossible to do with the limit of letters we are allowed here.Your post is negative.
  • Irene123 on Job 2 - 7 years ago
LU2677 - are you in great physical/emotional pain? Otherwise why would you quote Job 7:3? It's very depressing if you don't bring out Job's end in all of this .....; we shouldn't use the word of God in a negative way.
  • Lu2677 on Job 2 - 7 years ago
Job 7:3 "So, I am made to possess months of vanity and wearisome nights." Job said.
  • Funke on Job 2 - 7 years ago
Job's life teaches us how to be fruitful, when you take a stand in what u believe in the midst of challenges, his spouse even condemned him but Job took a stand and the devil don't like that! Job was rewarded for his faithfulness for he became exceedingly Fruitful.
