"..let the weak say, I am strong. Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord." The men of the world, they are the weak; and the ungodly, they are the heathen to be gathered and brought up to their doom. While they hold on to their ancient deceits of pride defiance against Christ, thus will they fall.
  • A disciple on Joel 3 - 7 years ago
"Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine?" Jesus Himself answered the everlasting contempt of Israel's evil neighbors: "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs." If they would repent and believe the Gospel and love God's people He would heal them; but they continue to make themselves enemies for their false prophet's sake.

The Day of the LORD is at hand and our redemption draws near! The chain of events which are now rapidly taking shape, have an end! We know that during the last, and most terrible and dreadful kingdom of the heathen, will be the days when the Lord comes to take them away for ever, when He sets up His everlasting kingdom. Let us not be troubled, but exulting; and the trial is only for small moment!

The book of Joel is another identifying marker of the last days but it is also the history of the Hebrews and slavery. Captivity and slavery identify who the people of Israel were then and who they are now. If a people claiming to be Israel have no history of captivity and slavery from Egypt to modern times. They are not Israel. Let that marinate. We have allowed the history of Israel to be smothered. Joel 3 3 is speaking of slavery. How boys and girls were sold on the common market, traded for vile pleasure and alcohol. If you research the Transatlantic slave trade you will find slaves were often traded for wine, rum and other alcoholic drink. Don 't you think it 's high time we got this right and made a stand for keeping Scripture in context as God would have had us do. Perhaps the churches would not be so ignorant today concerning so many things and using Scripture for so many illustrations that have nothing to do with what God intended.

@ Bright...There are 12 Tribes of the House of Israel Reuben, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Benjamin, Ephraim, Manasseh, Judah and Levi. Until after the reign of King Solomon all 12 tribes were united under the leadership of Judah. Read II Chronicles 10 and I Kings 12 detail the politics which created this separation. The division resulted in the northern kingdom of Samaria (the “House of Israel”) and the southern kingdom of Judea (the “House of Judah”) in the Holy Land.
The House of Judah was initially composed of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. ( I Kings 12:21; II Chron. 11:12). The designation “jewish” belonged to the southern kingdom of Judah, the very word “jewish” having been derived from “Judah,” only the kingdom of Judah was “Jewish.” In other words, all twelve tribes of Isreal are Isrealites but only the tribe of Judah are Jews. At least that is what I see from the scriptures.

Mariage is an institutiön by God if it is based on holy matrimony but if it centred on affluence or title and material things then the end result is family crisis. Vs 14 talks about valley of decision. What plans/decision are u making about yourself & children, does it lead to eternity or hell? No pleasure here on earth that can be compared to the home that Jesus has or use 2000years to prepare for us
