  • Linda Sumlin on John 1 - 11 years ago
Wow I'm just so thankful for Jesus’ obedience to his father for us. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God, I started thinking about how we say around Christmas time Jesus is the reason for the season, but in reality we are the only reason he came to earth for, to show us the way then he died and rose on the third day with all power for us. I just want to say thank you God for you son Jesus, for everything he did and is still doing for us.

The commencement verse of the Gospel of John 1, says it all, that God has been from the beginning of creation and that the Word was with God, and that the Word was God, and that by Him all things came into being and without there was nothing that was made except through Him. It is in a sense that signifies that God and His Word are one, and that even though the world had a beginning, God never began because He has always been. And for Him to be whom the scripture says that He is, He must have the ability to commune with His creation- hence, Jesus Christ fittingly is the Word of God. These are mysteries and revelations. And it demands humility to be able to get into the different levels of knowledge that are inherent to that. And whenever a weapon is designed, put together or as it were, fashioned against you and I as Christians, please understand that such weapons are part of God's creation, and, in so far as we walk in love, and conduct ourselves, in line with the dictates of God's Word, then God, in His faithfulness guarantees us continual safety. And that is one of those things that make Christianity greatly friendly and highly inviting.
  • Leo on John 1 - 11 years ago
Christ our lord was there from the beginning. He is the reason for our being. I will trust and continue to trust in him.
  • ERROL BRITTON on John 1 - 11 years ago
John informs us that the word was GOD; and he made all things; then the word became flesh, after making everything and live in the world but they knew him not; nor accept him. GOD who came down and live among us then as JESUS, allowed himself to be crucified, so we have a chance to enjoy everlasting life that was made for us all. John 1:10 state he was in the world; and the world was made by him, and they knew him not. GOD has continually given us his unconditional love; and a lot has failed to accept it; and he is still trying by using various people and methods. Those of us who have accepted him, he has given us power to become sons of GOD. Let us worship him, and get the power to do the greater job; from the example HE has set us; ASKING for his continuous blessings and revelations amen...

I think that darkness can't handle light.
  • Margarita on John 1:10 - 11 years ago
It breaks my heart to no end when I see that people who know the truth of who God is, are still today rejecting Him by their evil deeds. Rejecting the Great Mighty and Wonderful God that made us and all that is in this world. God who stooped down from heaven and became a human being. One day, He took all the ugliness of the world to the cross, as our sacrificial lamb, so we can learn how to live again. Yet the people still Crucify HIM ALL DAY LONG! But one day Jesus will come back so we can live in eternal peace.. Amen!
  • Enoch Gyas on John 1 - 11 years ago
John 1 reveals to me that JESUS is unquestionable and incontestable GOD. I love Him, He is the Lord of my life.

Nathaniel...boy I just love this last little sequel to this great Chapter. We see Jesus walking amongst the people of the day, then we come to Nathaniel in amongst the mix. Wow, a one line statement from the Lord struck a chord with Nathaniel. I can only speculate what Nathaniel was doing under the fig tree, but my guess is that his thoughts were on prayer and communion with the Lord God Almighty. Nathaniel was a straight shooter in manner, deed and thought. This was confirmed when the Lord spoke with him and acknowledged the secret thought life of Nathaniel while he was under the fig tree....One is left to speculate what that was, but my guess was that it was intimacy with God in prayer, that no one else except the promised Messiah could confirm as their eyes met in that initial confrontation. Nathaniel immediately acknowledges, Jesus for who he was praying for or about while he was in his own little world with his own thoughts under the fig tree. Wow and Wow again. Nathaniel meets the Lord of All, who is able to read his thought life. Nathaniel comes on board as a genuine believer. The verses after the meeting tend to confirm where Nathaniel's thoughts were while he was under the fig tree, that is toward Heaven, The Prophets etc ascending and communion with God. Lord make us transparent of heart, not guile, just sweet for Him with Whom we have to do.

    I do like thy teachings.
  • Maronda on John 1 - 12 years ago
This is a good chapter, and the thing that stood out with me when I read it was when Nathaniel, asked, "can there be anything good that can come out of Nazareth?" I don't know what the city of Nazareth was like in the day that Jesus was here in the flesh, but it must have been something else. It just inspired me and made me think that God can raise up and use anyone from any place on earth even though others see the place as useless, crime ridden, and often referred to as God forsaken. It also made me think that God can call anyone to service despite, their origin, race, background or birthplace. That makes me smile!!

I thank God for the help of his spirit that guides us and tell us things. I want you to know that it was the Spirit of God that revealed Jesus to john in this chapter. Remember God says "by flesh shall no man prevail" so the revelation given to John was by God’s spirit, if only we listen to the spirit many MISTAKES we make will be averted and we will live in peace. Open your ears to him today and it shall be well with you. Amen

  • David on John 1:12 - 12 years ago
By receiving you have now what did not belong to you to be yours. Receiving Christ who is the Son of God in you, also makes you like him and that makes the Father to see his son in you, and this now gives a right to be son through Jesus, the son who is the image of GOD TURNS YOU ALSO TO BE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD AS NOW GOD SEES HIS SON IN YOU.
  • Onas jay on John 1 - 12 years ago
In this chapter 1, John was still repeating it that I knew him not. But spoke of him and said he is preferred then me he knew he was preparing the mind of the people to believe in him. So when Jesus came, John looked up and saw the sign and said behold the lamb of God. This is the true work of God through the holy spirit… alleluia. John said and I saw and bare record that this is the son of God. I love what John said, he said I am not the Christ and I know him not. Our God is wonderful.
  • Phyllis on John 1:6 - 12 years ago
I think that I need to meet someone today, who is like John. John discovered Jesus, because until he introduced him, no one really knew who he was. All they had were the stories others told. In a sense John brought us the Jesus we know today. He stated that he was great, but there was one greater than he was; John baptized with water, but Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Ghost! John 1:33.

John, take me to your Leader!

  • Jesse on John 1:51 - 12 years ago
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. That is exactly how it sounds, "the angels of God are ascending and descending upon the son of man. Do not try and change the Bible. Thanks.

Bebopp. Surely your words are of none else but of someone who never believed in or even understood the faith contained in the bible. I never liked the church much myself either. But if you read the bible where is the churched ever mentioned as an institution of gods law? Where does it say that you should act like or listen to priests? The bible surely is of god but the church surely is not. Some churches might be lead by men and women of faith, some congregations surely have faithful men and women in them. But some or even many might not have a true faithful soul in them. Just cause you go to church doesn't make you free from sin. Anyone who sins knows this. But true faith leads away from sin. Read 1john2 1john2 and 1john3 and understand the message. Understand that truth and gods command only can be found in your own heart. You shouldn't listen to the world, but to your heart, your soul, the spirit god has given you. Your heart knows whats right, so feel it. And only people that are of strong will and righteous character can be people of real faith. Read the following verses. Matthew 24:5, Matthew 7:22-23. Luke 21:8 Mark 13:6. Who do you think they speak of? What does your heart tell you in this matter? So follow your heart in truth and righteousness.
  • Bebopp on John 1:46 - 12 years ago
I like it cuz it satirizes The Jesus or The Christ. Once I was believer but after seeing the actions of especially some church leaders the religion of The Bible is something I no longer want to identify with. I revel when I see church leaders fall. It's karma in action. Slaves, soldiers and good Christians ask no questions.

The word became flesh to live with. Man. Our Lord is the WORD and has always been in existence, before creation.
  • Ian Calvert on John 1:9 - 12 years ago
I view this verse the existentialist sense , that is in being part of G-ds creation , his providence his Law (of grace), we all as newborn infants perceive a world of providence, grace , it is by this benevolence that we form our concience, faith , religion. This verse is speaking of Masseih as G-ds declaration of his Torah (eternal word).

John 1: 45-51, This is the wonderful word of GOD, the first special class for special students like Philip and Nathanael, from the teaching both are learnt a lot. Philip was live and served GOD always under OPEN HEAVEN, The special class students should always serve and live under open heaven, are you special student or ordinary one to GOD? The choice is yours, Live and serve like special ones the other do not suit you.

While we read through the gospel of saint John,we need to understadn that the word darkness itself does not mean the absence of light.Spiritual darkness is a form of light which is not from God. This is why saint paul in his epistle had to say Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light, that is,a form of light not of God.
The second thing i will like to draw our attention to here is the mystery hidden behind the name LORD. These four letter words means a lot. This is the full meaning of the word LORD. LIGHT OVER RULES DARKNESS.L stands for LIGHT,O stands for OVER,R stands for RULE,and D stands for DARKNESS. In this case,we see that Jesus being of a superior light which is of God rules over the depraved world of sin which is spiritual ignorance. The word darkness in a simpler word will be called spiritual ignorance or depravity of who God is? Since the world has been under a false light called darkness, when the real light of creation which is Jesus came to recreate humanity in the book of saint John 1:5,it became absolute impossible for people to believe him because they have been used to the false light brought about by the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, and that false light is ignorance of their divinity.
