My apologies. I forgot to list the prophecies from Isaiah that were being fulfilled. They are: Isaiah 53:1, Isaiah 6:10, and Isaiah 6:1-8

In verse 42, had those Pharisees who loved the praise of men more than the praise of God truly been born again.

    John 12 and Predestination

This section goes from they did not believe (as seen in John 6:64; 8:46 and others) to verse 39 of this chapter which states that they COULD not believe as prophesied in Isaiah 53:1.

Verse 42 serves as a harsh reminder that we can have belief in Christ but we also must CONFESS with our mouths ( Romans 10:9-10) in order to have saving faith. We are reminded here of Luke 16:15 which states that which is honorable among men is an abomination to God.

Here; it was praise of men that was the cause; and being thrown out of the synagogue; not even direct physical persecution.

Verse 48 reminds us of the conviction of the Spirit as mentioned in John 16:8; a few chapters later. Clearly; the whole Godhead works as a unit in tandem in ways mysterious to man.

Verse 40 goes on further to state from Isaiah about God Himself blinding men. Some other verses on that include 2 Thessalonians 2:11 where God Himself sends strong delusion so that they will believe the lie because of the previous verse where they did not LOVE the truth. Also we have Isaiah 66:4 where it says that God will choose their delusions.

All sin stems from self justification; and self love that cannot accept the true state of our souls as fallen man because of Adam and his progeny that makes up natural man. Naked we come into this world and naked we shall go ( Job 1:21); also see Ecclesiastes 5:15. We cannot love anything above God; Jesus uses the word HATE for anything else ( Luke 14:25-26). We see the general sentiment in verse 25 of this chapter. Clearly; Christ Himself showed love in the previous chapter for Lazarus; Mary and Martha as well as John when He said "Behold your mother" to John at the cross so that he could take care of her. ( John 19:26-27).

There were times when they sought Him out when He stated the more important principle that those who followed Him were brothers; sisters; etc. ( Luke 8:21).

The blueprint for being a child of God or not is in John 12.

These Pharisees sounded like the SWAMP of today.

The Spiritual battle will have an end soon.

Every word in this book will be fulfilled. Keep the faith high my fellowbelievers. We already WON. AGAPE.

Thank you Fred , for me , the most disgusting thing about the Pharisees is that they actually wanted to kill Lazarus . This evil of theirs boggles my mind . My guess is that he went into hiding after Jesus's crucifixion , maybe even before . Christ is fearless , true love is the bravest attribute , for true love even us mere mortals will risk ourselves for some one we love . Christ knew where he wanted to be and this should be our desire , our deepest desire , the World to Come . Thy Kingdom Come Dear Heavenly Father , when it is Your Will . Great post Fred , much love in Christ .

One can learn from the intensity and the power of wrong thinking when we do not except Christ. Jesus refers to it as the light. Believe in the light while we have Him. These words compared to nothing less than life here on earth and the life hereafter, called eternity.

He that hates this life, profound as it may seem, are the effects of living in Christ.

Even so we are in the world, doing the will of God, confronting sin in the world.

One may begin to wonder what heaven will be like after leaving this place?

Jesus once again confronting the Pharisees, who did not have far to come, watched Christ having dinner with Lazarus.

So, Jesus takes the opportunity not far from the temple giving the place for Mary to show Her Faith with the anointing of Christ feet, while Her brother looks on! Her brother, this one Jesus clearly raised from the dead after 4 days in the tomb!

The fact that the Pharisees, Simone, and Judas were all there is evidence that Jesus was giving these another chance to believe who He is. This is power, Christ is fearless in the eye's of an unbelieving hateful people ,who only wish to kill Him!

    Repent and be baptized

we need to be examples to others. Good examples. Chief rulers believed, but could not confess as they will be kicked out of the synagogue. If we mistreat people of a certain type, our children will see it and pass it on to them.

How may times did Jesus overthrow the moneychangers' tables? One account occurs so early in John (chp 2) with the added concession where he took time to make a small scourge of cords.

The leaders in the time of Jesus were wicked pretenders of religion and Jesus exposed their hypocrisy:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ( Matthew 23:15)

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ( Luke 11:39)

Jesus was perceived as a threat to the religious leaders so they conspired to kill him:

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. ( John 11:47-48)

Even Pilate saw through their facade:

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. ( Mark 15:9-10)

The great wonder of this is that God knew all this and worked it all together to provide the needed sacrifice for our sins through his Son Jesus Christ:

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. ( Acts 2:23-24)

All are judged based on the Words Jesus has spoken. Remember the sermon on the mount. We know that none of us will come close to passing that test. We can only be justified in God's eyes by believing on Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1

    Hello Jose,

Yours is not a foolish question, but complex to many and controversial to fools. It is fools who engender strife and show they are ignorant time and time again

In verse 28, Jesus was not giving an order but was urging in this context. It is no different to you or someone strongly encouraging a parent to buy this, or choose that, or do something that seems obviously good. This said, it does not negate the concept of the Trinity because it supports the tenet that the son is not the father, but that also the son is equally God as some will argue that Jesus did give an order

In verse 30, the voice was a witness to the crowd so that they will recall it during or after the crucifixion and be encouraged out of their fear and doubts that it was really the Messiah with them. Therefore, it was a prophecy for their sake

If any man lack wisdom let him ask of God who gives it liberally , but let him ask in faith .

    Foolish questions gender strife .
  • Jose Sanchez on John 12:30 - 4 years ago
I have a great question , when the Lord Jesus said: "Father glorify thy name" , did Jesus give an order to the Father? , but this can't be, because Jesus said , "my father is greater than I"

And the verse "this voice came not because of me , but for your sakes". What does it mean?

I hope to get an answer.

    Have a nice day.

In Jn 12:2, the people in that home were of course, Mary & Martha, the sisters of Lazarus. This account with Lazarus ends in Jn 11:45. In v46, those Jews who saw the resurrected Lazarus then went quickly over to the Pharisees to report what they had seen and then the rest of chap 11 speaks of their plot to kill Jesus. But Jesus went away and then returned to Bethany six days before the Passover, and fellowshipped with Lazarus and his sisters ( Jn 12:1 >).

The Greeks came to Jerusalem to see Jesus and they went to Philip and said we wd see Jesus the whole world wants to see Jesus, 1 of the facets of his death the cross was multiplication when a seed dies it multiplies. Smite the shephard and the sheep will be scattered then i will turn my hand to the lil ones, unless a seed dies it abide alone but if it dies it will bring forth much fruit the lil ones a baby Christ born in us via his seed etc.Whosoever receives one such child in my name receives me.Had he not died there wd have been only 1 Jesus but b/c of his death he will be multiplied as the stars of heaven thus every man will see Jesus via his seed th New Covenant. They shall look on me etc

I was amazing how Jesus helped his disciples to truly believe in who he was and what his purpose was for everyone to have faith and believe on him, the word Of God and why Jesus was sent to save the world. My heart cried out for Jesus with all he had to bear. And society today people are pretty much the same with not believing in the word of truth, and that we must lift up the Son Man be Lifted.

JOHN 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me ...him will my father honor. My favorite verse in all the bible. It says everything. I get goosebumps everytime I read it. Serve and FOLLOW, follow in the way Jesus lived and carried on his business, and his father will honor you. Powerful !

By the Disobedience of 1 man Sin entered the world and this CURSE of Adam was passed on to ALL men, no exceptions. Thus the Obedience of Christ wd have to be passed on to ALL men no exceptions Thats y he is saying IF I BE LIFTED UP I WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME. IN ADAM WE ALL DIED BUT IN CHRIST WE WILL ALL LIVE NO EXCEPTIONS.Whosoever will let him come and take of the WATERS OF LIFE freely.

"While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them." How many mornings will we still wake up in this world? How many days will we still have to receive the Light, repent and be converted? How many days will God bear with this people who only oppose and resist His Spirit and despise Jesus Christ?
