That is an action verse stating that God will not let anyone take what he said in vain; and he would do what he said will do.
  • George michael kumson on John 14 - 11 years ago
The level of love you have for God will determine the level at which he responds your prayers. Be obedient to the word!
  • Jman on John 14:6 - 12 years ago
Verse 6, if Jesus did not mean that, he would not have said it plainly and directly as so. It would then be phrased as "no one comes unto the Father except through Jesus." As the written word was not about what Jesus, written word was not what is meant, and is 'adding to' the message what is not there. It is about Christ within "me" to all who affirm the message of John 14:6. It is self evident logic. You read the word(s) of doctrine, you desire to have relationship with Christ, and you go within. Thus, you who are reading this can also say, and it is equally true, that Christ is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes unto the Father except through Me. Nothing added or changed. Truth revealed.

Obedience is the expression of true love. When you get married, you make a covenant with your spouse based on love. If you fail to keep that covenant, then you show that you did not love your spouse. Jesus is the Groom, and the Church is the bride. Jesus has made His covenant with the Church based on love by shedding His blood on the cross for our sins. He said a new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you. The commandments of God is completed by loving God with all thy heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second is to love thy neighbor as thyself. When we love others, we are keeping His commandments.

In the Fall of 1973, it was November, I think, I met some people in whom was the Spirit of the Living God. This was evidenced at first in that I could feel Him in their presence. God is Love. They gave thanks with joy at my dinner table and prayed in the Spirit. They told me, God inhabits praise. It's in the Book, read it for yourself! Some time after they had left, I was sitting on my bed reading in the gospel of John, chapter 14, wonderful things like, "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever..." When I got down to the 17th verse, "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." Then I realized this is what the whole world needed to solve all its problems, if only they could see... and I realized this is what I had been seeking my whole life, and I thanked God and began to praise Him with my whole heart, and the Spirit of Truth fell on me as He must have from the beginning... It was wonderfully bright and felt like living water rushing through and through and I praised Him with other tongues I knew not. Neither did I suspect that this would happen to me in advance, but I had just met Jesus "who will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire!" Later, on January 25, 1974, I was baptized in His name for the remission of my sins, meaning not only was I forgiven, but also that He had paid for it with His own blood. This was among my "first works" of faith after that I had received faith through the free grace of His Love. He also had said, "when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth"... "...he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."!!!

    @Ramesha,
There is no evidence that there is any life on other galaxies. Jesus Christ did not come to save angels, he came to same men. And men are only found on earth and nowhere else. Of course his salvation shall also profit God’s angels, in that all angels of darkness that currently fight them shall be wiped away. But Jesus Christ only came to rescue man.
Thinking it should be unfair that all should be saved by him (alone) means we are fairer than God, Acts 4:12. Because that is of God.
    God bless you.
  • Ramesha on John 14:6 - 12 years ago
How can it be possible that in the whole universe, composed of what we now know to be billions of galaxies, which are certainly inhabited by who knows how many trillion of creatures, there was only one being through which God's grace could come??? What about those poor fellas born in galaxies so far away from earth as to be impossible for them to even have heard the name of Jesus? How could they be saved? The God I love could never be so unfair toward any of His creatures! Paramhansa Yogananda's interpretation above is the one that makes the most sense to me, and makes me think of God with love, rather than with fear.
  • RANDY on John 14:6 - 12 years ago

  • Shirley Roach on John 14:1 - 12 years ago
What stands out in John 14:1, is the part about ye believe in God, believe also in me. In the beginning in the book of John Jesus was trying to reveal who He was. They believed that He was the Christ that was sent from God. But He wanted the people along with the disciples to know that He was God. Verse 1 is overlooked when it comes to that part. It was not until after His resurrection that they knew and believed that not only was He the Christ but, that He was also God.
  • Mary ward on John 14 - 12 years ago
God give us peace not world’s peace, so don't let your heart be troubled.
  • Patrick on John 14:12 - 12 years ago
I believe these were words that Jesus Christ spoke. He said We need to put our Faith in HIM. The Book of Hebrews explains the meaning of Faith. It is the substance of thing hoped and the evidence of things not seen. Jesus taught us how we need to live, by faith, not by sight. Walking on water doesn't make sense, but Jesus did it and one of his apostles also got out of the boat he was in and walked a little, until he focused on waves in the water instead of focusing on the power of God working in His son Jesus Christ. If we are to do God’s work, we need to have faith in Jesus Christ (His son) who came to earth to teach us how we should live. If have any hope of a life and a more abundant one, we need to search throughout the Bible and learn what God has to teach us. The Bible says if we have faith in Jesus Christ and believe speaking with our mouths, He is the son of God. He was crucified and rose again and ascended to heaven paying the price for our sins; even though we die in the physical, we have eternal life in heaven. So let us put our faith in God and His son Jesus Christ. Let our work be great also...

The devil, the god of wordly things, can not dare look nor to talk of accusing Christ, because He is pure. No stain of sin.
  • Roger Garcia on John 14:2 - 12 years ago
He was a great Disciple and has gave testimony as Jesus told them. He has inspired manny Christian believers including my self. I read several of his verses to my wife while she was in a comma and she used to respond by touching my hand.

Those of the world cannot receive the truth, because they do not know him or acknowledge him. but as a child of God, you will know the truth if you receive him and he will dwell in you spiritually. For your body is the temple for the holy ghost.
  • Tamiko Edwards on John 14:16 - 12 years ago
Just knowing that no matter what you are going through, Jesus said he will send you a comforter… That is good news, but I learn a lot in that message.
  • DAVID on John 14:2 - 12 years ago
IS JESUS SAYING HE IS GOING TO PREPARE A PLACE OTHER THAN HIS FATHER HOUSE...I OFTEN WONDER WHY IT IS SAID GOD AND JESUS ARE THE SAME YET JESUS IS ALWAYS SAYING HIS FATHER IS GREATER THAN HIM...(VERSE 7,10...THE TRUTH IS IN THE WORD...TO CHANGE THE WORD IS TO CHANGE THE TRUTH...)
  • Dex B. White on John 14:6 - 12 years ago
How can it be any plainer than the King James Version has said. You can not have any other views of this verse; because there is no other.
This is very simple to do. Believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God. There is no other son's of God, except Jesus. ANY OTHER VIEW IS A LIE, AND ALL OTHERS WILL MAKE YOU MISS HEAVEN AND THE PROMISE OF GOD.

1 When the Savior shall appear we shall see him as he is. We shall see that he is a man like ourselves.

2 And that same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there, only it will be coupled with eternal glory, which glory we do not now enjoy.

3 John 14:23—The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal appearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.
  • Anoop on John 14:6 - 12 years ago
Here's the Paramahansa Yogananda's interpretation of the quotes of Jesus where Jesus says, "I am the way, truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through me," John 14:6. Theologians have misinterpreted Christ's words in such passages as, 'I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by me.' Jesus meant, never that He was the sole son of God, but that no man can attain to the unqualified Absolute, the transcendent Father beyond creation, until he has first manifested the 'Son' or activated Christ Consciousness within creation. Jesus, who had achieved entire oneness with that Christ Consciousness, identified himself with it in as much as his own ego had long since been dissolved." ( Autobiography of a Yogi , p. 198, footnote; emphasis in the original)

I am so glad that he really wants us to know who he really is. So many r wrapped up in this trinitarian God the fat/son/hg theory but yet nowhere do u find this presented in scripture. What we do find is terminology like. If u have seen me u hve seen the father, why ru still asking to see the father,v7 from this point on u know him and hav what Seen him! 13-14 he makes importnt ref to In his name, why because he wants us to know that neither is there salvation in any other. If u understand that God just functioned at diffrent times doing a different thing... He created as spirit, he embodied himself as our redeemer and our savior. He sends the comforter in his name, what is the comforter? Its the HGhost read acts1/2:39. So if u refer to him as the hspirit, the spirit of Christ, U see its all him! Just alittle oneness information. mT 1 Mary would have a child and he would be called Emanual which means what? That God is with us, not 1/2 of God or A 3rd but that God himself had wrapped himself in flesh in the form of a babe to do what? Die for u and I why? because he said a spirit hath not flesh and blood as u see me have. u cant hang a spirit on the cross. So he is the fat/he is the son and he is his own agent to his own church in the form of the H/G but its all him!!

John 14 reveals a whole lot of who Jesus is first to God the father and next to us sinners. further reveals his being in us thro the holy ghost that'll teach us all things and comfort us. reveals his second coming after preparing mansions in heaven for us. it tells us he's our only way and truth and life. and most especially our hearts be firm so long we trust him only. bless you all

"...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father..."
    ( John 14:9)

We recently went to New York City. Before we left, I had "googled" everything I needed to know. I had used Google maps to go everywhere we were to go. I had gotten reviews, and saw personal pictures of where we would be going. Every aspect of the trip had been covered. (places we were to go, modes of transportation, places we were to stay, where we would eat, time schedules, weather temperatures...)

Because I had "googled" everything and virtually walked and seen all we were to do, when we actually did it, the virtual was so close to being reality. There were a few variables that the virtual could not convey: encounters with people (whether good or bad), mechanical breakdowns, delays which alter the abstract schedule, and the human factor of leaving something out and having to improvise on foot; but, overall, the virtual was a copy of the real. You could almost overlay the one over the other and have a perfect match.

Jesus said, "...he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father."

Much like "virtual" seeing to "reality" seeing, God has given unto us His Spirit to see things now, and things yet to be seen.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. ( I Corinthians 2:9-12)

Have you "googled" the Lord today, the date for the trip is impending?

First of all in my comments I didn't say anything about rapture. In my reading of the Holy Bible I see the Lord telling His men/disciple/church etc that He comes back so that they could expect His coming.
    John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

    Hebrews 9:28
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that LOOK for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation
    1 Corinthians 1:7
So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

    1 Thessalonians 2:19
For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
    1 Thessalonians 3:13
To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the COMING of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
    1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the COMING of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    Colossians 3:4
When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also APPEAR with him in glory.
    Philippians 3:20
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we LOOK for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

    1 John 3:2
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet APPEAR what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
    1 Corinthians 15:23
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming

    1 Thessalonians 4:15 - 17
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the COMING of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The Church is expecting the coming of the Lord their Savior. We children of light and of the day. We are not going to sleep at all; we are not going to lose our faith.

The coming of the Lord is not as a thief in the night for the Church. The prepared Church is expecting His coming, His saints, His holy ones are awaiting His arrival. They are not going to sleep as the 10 virgins slept (While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.). They are not preserved or kept for the darkness. But those that are choosing to receive Him at night (spiritually speaking) will meet Him when He comes from the wedding. ( And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.).

    Amos 5:18
Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what END [is] it for you? the day of the LORD [is] darkness, and not light.
    Job 36:20
Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
    John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the NIGHT cometh, when no man can work.

    1 Thessalonians 5: 1 - 10
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

So I think, we must expect Jesus and receive Him and be with Him forever rather than being part of those who are waiting for the ati-Christ.
