John 14 is one of many scripture I hold dear to my heart. The words Jesus spoke to us, "Let not you heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. . ." Christian's, God sends trials our way to strengthen us. It is a workout of our belief. I kneel down to God (sometimes, I lay on the floor-face drown crying to my Father and His Son Christ Jesus. I tell him all my pain-spiritual warfare. Psalms is still alive today. The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my (Our) soul. Yeh, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil. For thou are with me. Thy rod and staff comfort me. Believers, GOD IS WITH US ALWAYS! GOD BLESS

John 14 is one of my rocks, which I stand upon. Let not your heart be trouble (anxiety, depression, opression). Neither let it be afraid. Why Christian's? God is our Rock to which we stand. Christian's need to give ALL that troubles us to God. He will never leave us, or forsake us. He is our Comforter. To those who desire to harm us, "Vengance is mine sayeth the Lord. I WILL REPAY." If find myself running in circles, lost. I do not hear God speaking with His still & calm voice. And when I calm myself down. I am reminded that God sets my feet on solid ground. The Lord sends trials our way, to make us stronger. Trials will always be out there. We need to hold our hands up, to God!

Jim, hang on to the LORD GOD Almighty the world is going through a shaking right now and he is our rock.He will never leave you nor forsake you.And the angels are singing, right now, that you have come back into the kingdom.

Hello, I'll share my personal opinion (not based on scripture). The eyes are our lenses which can be used to narrow our view or focus on what we want or hope to see. They can be used to seek out things, and used for good or... evil. For example, lust. But it can be used for people looking to sin, take advantage of or harm others, or cause trouble- an evil eye. So, I think it's a metaphor for a certain viewpoint of someone looking to do evil. Here's a related verse: Matthew 5:29

Lost1, you're not lost if you're trusting in Jesus' sacrifice alone for your salvation. Please read Psalm 51 and know that God wants godly sorrow for repentance but not fleshly guilt. Ask Him to grant you the joy of His salvation. Please go to the Living Waters website and read Save Yourself Some Pain.

God's grace and love through Jesus is with you, and if He's saved you and sealed you with the Holy Spirit, then you are assured of salvation no matter how you may FEEL. Remember, His Spirit bears witness with ours, those who trust in Jesus' sacrifice to put them in right standing with God, that we are His children.

I love you, but God loves you best.

Jesus is my Lord and saviour,I believe in Jesus as well as the father who sent his only begotten son. All that Jesus when through for me and you let me know that Jesus is God son. And when he suffer and died like he did, he is heaven sent. God love us that mustthat he sent his precious son, to do what the first Adam couldn't do. Jesus is the truth. When Jesus said( I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me),too let everyone who he is. Hallelujah glory to god. In reference to John chapter 14.

"But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. ( Ps 68:3,4) May this Psalm help you to focus upon the LORD & give to Him the praises due. He may just reveal Himself to you in some wonderful ways as you seek Him first in everything.

That was wonderful to read that you have repented, turned away from sin & a sinful lifestyle & following your Saviour. And that is a great verse you shared in John 14:21. Did you notice the previous verse (v 20)? "ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." There's another verse similar to it: "For ye are dead (i.e. dead to your old life), and your life is hid with Christ in God."( Col 3:3).

One preacher very simply demonstrated this Truth: clench your right fist: that is Jesus Christ keeping you (inside the fist) secure in Himself. Now take your left hand & close it over your right fist: this is Jesus Christ "in My Father". Then the preacher asked, "now tell me where are you?" Of course, the answer is that we are "in Christ & together we are in God", a no greater security & love that we could ever receive.

So the fact is that both your salvation & eternity are secure in Jesus' finished Work at the Cross according to the Father's Plan. Even a "backslider of the worst kind" can find total forgiveness, for there is no sin so great that His Blood cannot cover. "Will you ever find that which you lost?" That is exactly what His Spirit is there to do in you: as you spend time in God's Word, as you pray & seek His Face often, He will become more & more real to you, not just a feeling, but in your daily walk. You will notice how something that has happened was clearly of the Lord's doing, or some Word given to you when you needed it most. And all this will help you to know the Lord more & grow in your faith. I have found that it is of greater worth when I've spent more of my prayer time in praise & worship of God than with other matters. Talk to your Lord of His Wonder & Glory, of His Love & Sacrifice, of the blessings that he has showered upon you.

I have been asking questions a lot lately as i have recommitted my life to Jesus, I have repented and totally turned from my old way of life, verse 21 He who has my commandments and keeps them is he who loves me, and is loved by my father and i will love him and manifest myself to him. I've been a backslider of the worst kind, will Jesus manifest himself again to me I do my best to keep his word but it seems like I've lost something
  • Brenda - In Reply on John 14 - 4 years ago
Jesus came to save us spirit, soul and body. When you read the four gospels Jesus met peoples needs in all areas of life. Jesus came to and did reverse the curse brought into this world through the fall of Adam and Eve. God loves His creation with an unconditional love. Some have never experienced that kind of love in their life. The word "salvation" in the Greek actually means-rescued, delivered, healing, prosperity, well being, completely made whole. He taught us about faith (simply believing His word) and through faith we can walk in an abundant life because of His finished work on the cross. God is our Heavenly Father and just as our earthly fathers, He desires to make life good for us. What parent doesn't want their children to do well in life. This life is possible if we lay down our desires and take His. He needs us to be witnesses to save the world. Don't take my word for it study for yourself. When we stand before Him one day, His word will be the standard that we will be judged by. Yes there has been abuses in the body of Christ but that doesn't change the gospel and it's power to change our lives, spirit, soul, and body. John 10:10. God bless!

Erichburg, great Truths you have declared there. Though I see the original question (from nine years ago!), was to do with Jesus position as part of the Deity, yet the Scriptures show Him praying to the Deity, which seems unreasonable. The question is valid, but the understanding of Christ's position in incarnation is defective. I would turn to Psalm 8:5 which is the prophecy alluded to in Hebrews 2:9: "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man." Also Phil 2:6-9.

These verses give us a glimpse: who the Word of God made incarnate is, & was given (by the Father or He took upon Himself voluntarily), some of the limitations of humanity. Jesus was in Heaven (pre-incarnate) as the Word only (some could disagree with me on this). That is, He was not known as Jesus there, but was the Word that proceeded from God, as was the Spirit of God. In His incarnation, he was given the Name of Jesus ( Lk 1:31), simply meaning, 'Saviour', which was not His Position pre-incarnation. Therefore, as the man Jesus, Who is the Christ, resorted to His Heavenly Father often in prayer, this seems quite appropriate given His Humanity & His position before God & in the Deity. And I would presume that in His ascended position at His Father's right Hand, He still holds the position of equality with the Godhead, yet as a Son (both human & part of the Godhead). Is this how you understand this?
  • Erichburg - In Reply on John 14:28 - 4 years ago
The way to comprehend and believe all this is to believe that God can do anything because He is the Almighty God, the Creator who created all things, and the only one who has the power to do anything. Don't try to answer these questions or figure this out from a carnal or human standpoint because everything about God is spiritual. That is why Jesus said in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." God can be fully man, as Jesus, and fully God, as the Superior Being and Almighty One because He is God. Please read what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 -14, that is if you believe the Bible. Jesus came to this world to bring us back to God and to introduce us to the ways of God. He also came to put us back in right standing with God, and it is our faith in Him (Jesus Christ) and what He has done for us that God will receive. I am so glad that I have given my life to Jesus Christ, and I know that the Father hath received me and given me eternal live because of my faith in His Son. I pray that you have or will do the same. The Father and Jesus are one, and while Jesus was here on earth, He pointed us to the Father because His mission was to do the will of the Father and to help everyone to understand that the Father is the author of it all, and that He has given us His name which is Jesus and it the name that is above every name in this world and also the world to come. So stop trying to figure it out with your natural mind and place your trust in Jesus Christ ( Romans 10: 9-13), and God by the power of His Holy Spirit will give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in how to trust Him and His plan for your life as well as all those who would dare to trust and receive Him. I believe that the God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and He has proven His Himself to us in all three categories because He has the power to do it all. I pray that you will put your faith in Him. I hope to see you in heaven!

Do not let your faith in your Heavenly Father waver. His loving concern for you is undeniable. My dad had an xray of his lungs with a spot in it. The entire surgical board along with it's nationally recognized head all agreed it was cancer and needed surgery. When he had additional tests done in preparation for the surgery the spot was gone. Even the head of the dept. said it was a miracle. God specializes in healing his children. Keep the faith.

It seems to me that this statement, attributed to Jesus, is in conflict with his spiritual teachings. Behaving in a compassionate and loving way toward others, avoiding accumulation of wealth and respecting other living things should be the focus.

IMO does not mean earn your way, only try to do the best you can according to his commandnents,& a willingness to obey. Not striving for boasymtung, but with a humbled heart, wanting to do the right thing g.We know we are not & will not be perfect except thru Hesus Christ. He also said in his last words on the cross. It Is Finished. That means he paid it all.W ed cannot outdo or do better. There is no more said rifice.Ehen we are his sheep, his followers,& believers,we wish to,& have a yearning to do his commandments. But we are saved by AMAZING GRACE.It is not earned. We are called by our spirit,& freely given his eternal love.

Revelation Chapter 6: 9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the SOULS (not bodies) souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
These souls are with the Lord under the altar of God.
2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Those in Christ go to be with the Lord when they die awaiting new bodies. Those not in Christ, well they go to the other place....
  • Dawn R Cooper - In Reply on John 14:2 - 4 years ago
Nope it pertained to the disciples. Everyone will be judged. How can you be in heaven before judgement day? Then be judged and get kicked out? AMD hiw dies a human get to say how wonderful another human is? They could have been really crappy on the inside that's why we all still gotta be judged m the first death and the second death. It's all in there.
  • Dawn R Cooper - In Reply on John 14:2 - 4 years ago
He was speaking to his disciples not us. Raju are on heaven possibly bit we must all be judged first. It says so in countless scriptures.old and mee testament. When we die we go back t ok the ground and await the second coming. If every one just went straight to heaven because man thought they where good people, what's the point? Jesus himself said the dead no nothing. As if they were asleep!! Thays Jesus saying that not me!! Gotta wait for the resurrection to see where you're truly going! Heaven, hell or the new earth. Says it right on the bible, the meek shall inherit the earth. So we dont just magically die and wake up in heaven! There would be on use for judgement.
