There is prophecy here but the biggest part is very literal and if you read it with the instructions to us that is [word by word line by line precept by precept with Gods help we should be able to sort it out. what Jesus is saying I'm telling you these things so you will not be surprised when they take place .Verse two should at least for a moment put in your mind [Apostle Paul]

John 16 is prophetic of a Child that is in our near future, A baby Christ,HE is telling em that they are gonna travail in child birth via his seed,B/C i have spoken these WORDS ( his seed ) SORROWS HAS FILLED YOUR HEARTS,BUT AFTER THE CHILD COMES SHE REMEMBERS NO MORE THE SORROWS, THE CHILD IS THE H.G. THATS Y HE IS SAYING THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT, SHE BROUGHT FORTH A MAN CHILD.

IMO this passage is prophetic of the last days when we will birth a baby christ BY HIS SEED WHICH IS HIS Words. B/c i have spoken these Words,HIS SEED sorrows have filled your hearts Our hearts is like a womb where that good seed has to be sown resulting in a birth of Christ in us, the SON OF MAN I.E OUR FRUIT A BABY CHRIST,BUT AFTER SHE IS DELIVERED OF THE CHILD SHE REMEMBERS NO MORE THE SORROWS.

I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT JESUS KEEPS IT REAL FOR US BELIEVERS! HE NEVER SUGAR COATED HIS MESSAGE TO APPEASE PEOPLE! HE NEVER TOLD US THAT LIVING IN THIS WORLD WOULD BE EASY CAUSE OF ALL THE TROUBLE IN THE WORLD CAUSE OF SIN! BUT HE DID PROMISES US PEACE IF WE REMAIN IN HIM!

George; "The kingdom of God comes not with observation; neither shall they say, Lo, here, or, Lo, there; for behold, the kingdom of God is within you." The world doesn't want to prepare themselves for the coming of the LORD; but instead to make themselves a king and a world system after the vanity and wickedness of their own evil imaginations; and the LORD has rejected the generation of His wrath.

All these need to be translated into dynamic physical activity, thus preparing the world for establishing the God-government on Earth.

To Insight777 - The comforter is not the bible. The comforter is the Holy Spirit which has been given unto us.

We are assured by Jesus' saying in verse 26: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

V7, The Apostles said Jesus taught in parables. I think the Comforter is symbolic for the Bible.
The Bible is carried through the centuries for spiritual comfort and truth. Jesus gives us this path to follow him until the end of days. Jesus will return because God loves the human creation He made. Because of evil lust for power a great final war created by man destroys the earth and all on it.
