The Bible contains a HUGE amount of truth ,Jesus is aaall over the old testament ,if i ever think that i have completely understood and fully appreciated the Bible in aaall its truth and perfect beauty i might have a look at some other religious books too but my guess is it will take me my whole life of regular reading to realy appreciate it and i will still have not fully understood everything ,the Bible is a very very deep well of wisdom and love and truth ,its more than enugh for me to be getting on with for the rest of my life .
  • Bahss - In Reply on John 4 - 3 years ago
Thats only for the new testament. Im making a claim for books outsude of the testaments. I.e. we can have the new and old testament as the bible. But why not have another area of texts where we can interpret the word lf God through other cultures? After all, they are inspired by God to some extent too right? Its not like God chose the middle east to be the source of all wisdom. Surely then it is up to us to seek the word of God in areas other than the bible without throwing the bible away obviously
  • Adam - In Reply on John 4 - 3 years ago
Hello, the Bible is a collection of books that were considered canon, or inspired by God. To be deemed as such it had to meet rigid criteria. You can easily search in a few seconds what criteria was used for canon.
  • Bahss on John 4 - 3 years ago
Why is it believed that only the Bible is the word of God? After all, it is compiled by the Church - not by God directly. So, as followers of Christ, should we not look to include external texts to help ourselves to understand God? Jesus told his own wisdom on his own authority - to be like Christ would mean to do the same, no? We should not reject the wisdom and truth in the bible but i believe we should always be trying to expand upon it. Just as science helps us to undrrstand God's creation, non-biblical texts or so-called 'pagan' religions can also help us understand God right?

Verse 34-By giving the answer at John 4:34 Jesus showed that he really felt nourished and strengthened by doing God's work
  • Dianne - In Reply on John 4:54 - 3 years ago
Leslie this is my understanding Christ will appear for His Church the Body of Christ and gather it together thessalonians then the book of revelation where at the end all will be raised from the dead and face Gods Judgement, now remember I said thats what I understand but trust me there are a lot of different ideas on this. But remember we who believed and have been made righteous in Gods eyes are spiritually perfect, no judgement day, I.E. terminator Smiles.

If you use the SEARCH BOX on this website, you will see for yourself what the Bible says about a/any subject. No matter denomination, persuasion: you rely on what the scriptures say.

    LORD OF THE HARVEST

"For unsaved loved ones, it takes rock solid faith in Jesus (unmovable), to pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into the paths of your resistant relatives.

He arranges divine appointments for people to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ with the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.

They, with the Father, CREATED all we see and know. Is there anything too hard for the Lord? In REVELATION there is a scene of Jesus with a sickle, reaping the Harvest.

Get in on this! Pray for these stubborn relatives, loved ones, belligerent teenagers; even the old, the drugged up; the angry at life, everybody! Even perfect strangers.

Christ-like Love should drive you to your knees, often if not every day. Budget one hour to do serious business in your prayer life. Pray for LABORERS TO BE SENT.

This is called, love and obedience to the known will of God. Jesus is the Lord of the Harvest. Sitting at the right hand of God, making intercession for all saints. Ask and receive. Keep your faith fixed on Jesus only.

PRAY TO THE LORD OF THE HARVEST.

    " Matthew 9:37

    Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

    Matthew 13:30

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into MY BARN.

    Matthew 13:39

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels."

    Joel 3:13

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

Leslie,Your confusion is from lack of Bible knowledge, right? In all honesty, whatever your are told, even here on this site, you need to confirm for yourself from the scriptures. God speaks to us from his word, and you have done well to come here. The 1000yrs is likely a reference to the millennial kingdom, which is yet to exist on Earth. It is not a "reset",but it is a fullfilment of a promise to the nation of Israel.

Now,more importantly, how to search the Bible for yourself at this site.In the search window you can type in any word and the site will list each instance of use.Once the page opens with the list of locations where the word is used, you can then limit the search to one of four options, all, old, new or apocrypha. In my opinion, only the first three are useful and apocrypha is very questionable as to being biblical at all.A hardcopy/book that performs,as this site,is called a concordance.Three concordances that already exist are the Strong's, Young's and Cruden's,and again my opinion is,that Strong's will suit you best,in that it is ready to further your word searches by listing references to the original languages of Hebrew and Greek.

Since you refer to yourself as "strict",I suspect that you have an opinion of salvation, that it is something you do that gets you to heaven. And since you are a sinner,as is every other person, except Jesus, you need complete forgiveness from God,to enter heaven. To become a saved person, the Bible teaches that you must trust that,in his dying on the cross,Jesus paid all your debt of sin,all your sins, past, present and future. It is by the grace of God that this is made known to you.You must speak to God,and you will,by his grace, recieve a personal understanding from him,as to what his son did for you on the cross. If he truly has forgiven you,it is for eternity.Your trust in him to save you must be sincere, and it will be tested as your old nature will resist changes he will make in you.read 2Timothy 2:15 U R in my prayers.May God bless U.

I was raised strict Protestant, and I have never heard of this, but please help me to know if I have heard from a false prophet, or if I misunderstood. I am being told of a second harvest, in which christ returns for what some are referring to as "the second harvest", in which I am told is his second return, after 2000 years, for what some are referring to as "the great reset", and that he resets the world for 1000 years before returning for the final time. Is this in any way valid? I'm confused.

Comments by Alex about water baptism and baptism of the H.G. the gift of God. Jesus told the Woman at the Well of 2 kinds of water 1 was Jacobs well but the other was the gift of God that living water which is the H.G. That Jesus describes as a well of water springing up unto everlasting life . Jesus said that whosoever drinks of this water, Jacobs well ( water baptism ) shall thirst again. Our thirst for salvation is not fully quenched by water baptism you will thirst Again. But the gift of God which is H.G. BAPTISM is like a well of WATER springing up unto everlasting life . Remember when JESUS SPOKE OF LIVING WATER jOHN said this he speak of the SPIRIT for the H.G was not yet given b/c that Christ was not yet glorfied . And Jesus refers to the baptism of the H.G as the baptism of PROMISE, Behold i send the PROMISE of my father upon you which was baptism of the H.G everlasting life etc. But what is this baptism of PROMISE, ITS SIMPLY THE MULTIPLCATION OF Christ in humanity VIA HIS GOOD SEED the GIFT of God A BABY CHRIST,THAT CHILD OF PROMISE THAT LIVING WATER . That was the great Promise i will multiply thy Seed ( his word ) as the stars of heaven, thus the babes and the suckling he mentions are truly the result of that heavenly Promise ,The ISRAEL OF GOD, That are gona be born in US SINNERS. Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in ( the new birth ) Remember when Pharoahs daughter came to wash she found a Child Hid in the Nile, MOSES MEANING DRAWN FROM THE WATERS Synbolic of a baby Christ we draw from the baptism of the H.G. THE RIVER OF LIFE. the H.G. tHE CHILD OF PROMISE. k later

John 4. Salvation is of the Jews......

My understanding is that we all come from one father and mother, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

Eden is described in its location by rivers that flowed out of it and encompassed nations. I leave that to the

    Geographers and archeologists to debate.

I believe that Adam - the first Adam in reference to our Lord Jesus was a Jew. We simply have to obey God when he speaks, love the Jews, love Jerusalem. "They shall prosper that love thee". "I will hate those who hate thee and bless those who love thee". We cannot hate our ORIGIN AND WHERE WE COME FROM.

The world finds it hard to understand this but the holy spirit reveals it to the people of God. Though I am a black African by ethnicity, I am a Jew. My father is Abraham and mother Sarah and I am fed with the heritage of my father Jacob. The mouth of God has spoken it. Amen.

Vickie, it was thoughtful of you to send me a message. I believe in God's healing power. I walk by faith
not by sight. I am grateful for my relationship with Jesus. He always answer my prayers in his timing.
I am glad to know God for myself and I trust only in Him. As I look back from where I've started, God
has brought me all the way. When I got weak and could not "walk" God picked me up and carried me.
    I am so THANKFUL!

She was anointing Jesus in preparation for his approaching death and burial, in an act of love.

Soon after Judas sells out Jesus to the chief priests, as he is disappointed with Jesus's messiahship, as he, like other Jews was expecting a military leader to overthrow the Romans by force, not by sacrifice and peace.

We all can be the woman at the well, coming to Jesus in our present state and hearing truths and being renewed with spiritual guidance and hope for lasting refreshment and life. Water reflects light and has a taste just like Jesus in our journey and interactions with others.
  • Spencer on John 4 - 5 years ago
The first official disciple of the Lord was a woman. Jesus revealed himself to two women after HIS resurrection. The importance of women in HIS ministry, to hearing and delivering the message of Christ, to the spreading of the word of God has long been underreported and underestimated.

Verse 34~Jesus showed that not only was it important for him to teach and preach but he said that he wanted and needed to do the will of his father Jehovah God. We must make sure that we practice what we preach just as Jesus did.

I believe in the healing power of Jesus. I know that he can speak the word and I will be healed.
I am in need of healing from a 7 1/2 hr. Spinal surgery. It has been a difficult recovery. I am
Waiting for my healing. Just like Jesus healed the sick boy , he can heal me also.
Pray my strength in the Lord.

I sent you to reap that wherein he bestowed no labor, for Jesus was with them! There comes a time when he is taken from us in that he is with the Father reaping his reward. Do you think he labored not when he walked amongst us, when he absorbed the Doctors comments on his Torah studies. By his comments you know his knowledge of Mosaic law was vast, when he preached from the Torah daily in temple
  • Eutychus on John 4 - 6 years ago
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Where do you worship? It must be special, for God, "dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands..." Acts 17:24b-25a. "Howbeit the most High dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands." Acts 7:48 The 'place' we must worship is, "IN SPIRIT", found in the little community of TRUTH.
