The Woman was not divorced. If a woman bed down with a man or Man bed down with a woman; and have sexual relations together then they become married in spirit and body in the eyes of God. This was considered to be Adultery and that made her guilty of the same. But she would be forgiven at His death for the sins of the world, if she repented and asked for mercy, and stopped sinning to be saved.
  • Ulu on John 4 - 8 years ago
Why do people assume the Samaritan woman was 5 times divorced? Maybe all her husbands died and they were all brothers, unable to give her children. Maybe the man she is in love with now is not allowed to marry her because of cultural differences. Jesus accepts her just as she is and she becomes a great evangelist.

Well to me i think Jesus had to go through Samaria firstly because,in the kingdom of God and life in general, nothing happens by chance.his going to Samaria was because there was a divine accomplishment Secondly women were looked upon as second class citizen so in his divine assignment women were also included and were to relate with him just as any other person Furthermore, even though his initial assignment was for the lost sheep of israel,he turned to the whole world when the lost sheep of Israel rejected him.now Samaria being one of those countries that the Jews were prohibited to relate with.his going through it and talking with a woman from there speaks of his universal assignment to save the whole world

Samaritan woman Represent the church. Many of us know and believe that Jesus Christ came and save only the Jews that people find a religion to fit in their believe that they will also be save..In this Chapter Jesus tells us that He Came not for the Jews only, but to the world. And He live to the lives that believed and accepted Him as Lord and Savior..... He saved those who believed in Him...and we must Share The Gospel of the Kingdom of God to all Nation......God Bless....

Theres a reason the holy scripture read as jesus asking the woman, woman represents us,the bride of crist, jesus is still asking all of us beleivers, give me to drink of our fellowship,Love, adoration,he is so thirsty and hungry for our sincere love and fellowship, all he wants is to Love him with all our hearts, souls strenght so he can have the intimate Love covenant relationship with us!!
  • John on John 4:18 - 9 years ago
When she states she has no husband this means that the soul woman is not joined with spirit so if she claims no husband then she must be under the bondage of the physical senses. The 5 husbands refer to the 5 senses. If you are not married to the Spirit then your are married to the senses. Jesus representing the Christ or spirit is saying that Christ or spirit is not her husband. He is not referring to himself personally.
  • David L. Rice on John 4:24 - 9 years ago
God is a Spirit. This is the Father by Himself. You cannot see Him but He can manifest Himself into what ever He wants. He did manifest Himself in the form of a Human in Jesus Christ our Lord. Yet He is small enough We can receive Him as a gift in baptism. His Spirit replaces the tables of Stone the 10 Commandments which is Gods total Righteousness and His Eternal Law is written in our hearts and minds. Upon obedience to the gospel of Jesus and Repentance, we receive three of the greatest gifts known to all of Mankind. 1 the remission of sin 2 the gift of the Holy Spirit and 3 we are added to His congregation of believers. Heb.10

I totally agree with the commentaries on Jhn 4:24. The thing here is that, it is the Lord Himself The Son, who knows The Father, has seen The Father, is sent of The Father and is one with The Father who is commanding or giving us instructions as to the acceptable way in which God is to be worshiped. All that is required of us is total obedience to His revealed will in order for us to be 'true worshipers '.If we are true worshipers then that places us in His presence. And if in His presence then our goal is not a too distant reality. We then should ask guide God for the fortifying providence of His Holy Spirit so that He finds us daily to be worthy of worshiping Him in His presence.

As people,we are so much interested in eating food and we care less about the work of God.If we can put the work of God first then the food of the body,we would benefit of the blessings of Heaven.I have the food to eat says Jesus. We need to know that we have very little time on this earth for to do the work of God.I wish each of us knew how many days you have on this earth,it would help us to do the works of God.

  • Kimiti Mwangi on John 4:24 - 9 years ago
God is a spirit...... God a spirit. A spirit is a form that is in the true image and likeness of God. This is what was created in the 1st account of creation in Genesis chapter 1.
  • Tim on John 4 - 9 years ago
Interesting that Jesus MUST go to Sychar. Jews had no dealings with Samaritians. But to be sitting and talking to a Woman of Samaria? His disciples know better than to question, even Peter. This is another example of Jesus using a woman to bring the message of salvation. Though they reminded her, they found her message to be true, she would get no credit for it. But she had already been used by Jesus. Jesus uses whom He pleases. The ground is level around the Cross.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Hello Ron No he did not have a new program. Paul had already been converted to Christianity before going into Arabia. Then he traveled back to Damascus from Arabia. It is not known how long he stayed there or what he actually studied. But whatever he studied did not change his faith believing in Jesus Christ and Acts 2 38. In the end, Paul still after his journey to Arabia still taught the oneness to many. Remember the Ephesians, whom Paul wrote his epistle to, was saved Christians. They were saints in Jesus Christ. He taught Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone of our faith, Ephesians 2 20 thru 22. Remember the Roman Church was saved people. If you read Romans 1 1 Paul starts the Book with Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle.

Part 8 of 10 Now look at what Jesus says next. He uses singular words such as Name. There is no s on it meaning there is one name to recognize. Then he uses the word and which is a conjunction tying all three of this together saying that there is one name in which to be baptized in. Now the question you have to ask yourselves is what is the name? Jesus said to baptize in the name, so what is the name? Jesus gave the name. He stated his name and his Father s name in John 5 43 I am come in my Father s name, and ye receive me not .. Then he gave the name of the Holy Ghost in John 14 26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name So on the day of Pentecost Peter clarified by reminding the people that the name in which you should be baptized is in the Lord Jesus Christ name.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 10 of 10 How does a person know whether or not they truly have the Holy Ghost? They have to speak with other tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance. The Holy Ghost is God s gift. He can give it anyway he wants before the baptism or after the baptism, but he will not deviate from the formula of how to recognize the Holy Ghost when it comes into a person s life. The formula was given and prophesied in Isaiah 28 11 and Joel 2 29. Then God confirmed it himself when he gave the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost, because they all spake with other tongues as the spirit of God gave them utterance. Then Peter clarified it further when he went to Cornelius house and stated that they all spake as Peter and the others spake in other tongues which is the sign of the true Holy Ghost.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 9 of 10 Then you have the final component of the salvation plan. The filling of the Holy Ghost, which only God himself can give. No man, woman, or child can give it to you. You can tarry with someone all day long. You can pray all day long. God looks at the heart and when he knows that you have truly repented he will give you his gift. Remember God cannot lie, Hebrews 6 18. So you have to ask yourselves this question, when the preacher is baptizing you and he says to you that he will baptize you in the Holy Ghost what is he doing? He just lied to you. He cannot give you God s gift. The reason no man can give you the gift of the Holy Ghost is because man is not fair and he only looks at the outward appearance, whereas God looks at the heart. This is a gift only God can give.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 7 of 10 When Jesus stated in Matthew 28 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost . He said, Peter clarified it, and the Apostles, including Peter, carried it out. Now let s break this down. First he stated all nations . This means everyone, every human being, on the planet. Peter clarifies this by saying For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call .
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 6 of 10 Then Peter tells a person to get baptized. This means to be submerged in water. If I can say it like this, I would rather have 1001 baptisms and be found to have had the correct one and make it into heaven, than to have 1000 and be told that I do not have it right when I meet God. Baptism is a part of the salvation plan. There is no getting around this. The correct baptism is needed. When Jesus stated a person must be born again of water and of spirit, this is the water he was talking about. The Apostles carried out this plan of salvation. It is recorded in the Word of God in which we all read, so why is it difficult to accept that this is so? In the Book of Acts there are many examples of the baptism.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 5of 10 True repentance will affect a person s will and this person will turn around as in example of the Great Decision of the Prodigal Son, Luke 15 18. After you have repented you do not go back into those sins examples, John 5 14 John 8 7 thru 11. They were instructed to go and sin no more. A person that returns to their sin folly is like a dog returning to his vomit, Proverbs 26 11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly . When a person truly repents the angels will rejoice, Luke 15 10.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 4 of 10 If I can say it like this, Acts 2 38 is asking an individual to Repent. Repentance is turning for sin. Asking God to truly forgive you for your sin, whether this is the sin you have committed up unto the point you hear about Acts 2 38 or the sin that you had nothing to do with that came from Adam in the Garden, you still have to repent. True repentance will affect a person s entire being. His intellect like the parable of the two sons, Matthew 21 29. True repentance is a godly sorrow and will affect emotions, 2 Corinthians 7 9 and 10.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 3 of 10 I have no agenda other than I want to see people truly saved before it is too late. What are you losing by following Acts 2 38? Have anybody been asked to give up their wealth? Has anybody been asked to lay down their natural life? Has anybody been asked to handle snakes? Has anybody been told to hate a whole race of people because of their skin color? The answer to all of these questions is no they have not.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
Part 2 of 10 How we know that this is the plan of salvation is because in Acts 2 39 Peter continues with his conversation with the multitude and says the following And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation . We are living in a day and age where morals are being skewed. The children are being taught that it is alright to be a homosexual. The world is in chaos and turmoil. The things that was foretold we see it happening now. Salvation is an individual walk that you must follow Acts 2 38.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 4 - 9 years ago
I hope all of the following parts come out Part 1 of 10 Hello Everyone The Word of God is the truth in itself. No matter how many people try to dispute it the word of God will stand. On the day of Pentecost Peter stood and gave a speech and in Acts 2 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved, so if this was the end then Peter would have stopped there, but it wasn t the end of what to do. Now Peter did not just stop there with this conversation. He continued on telling the multitude gathered there that they had crucified Jesus Christ who is both Lord and Christ. After Peter said this they were pricked in their hearts and asked a simple question, Acts 2 37. ..Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter gave them the answer in order for them to be saved, Acts 2 38. Then he told them who this salvation plan was for in Acts 2 39.
