To Lu s Hon rio Rodrigues Aquino 's John Chapter 5 comment about verse 39 on 1 11 2015, 6:29am... In the original Greek Bible this verse is a Statement and not an order. As you say further on in your comment, the Jews had the habit of reading the scripture or listening to it in the synagogue when it was read to them.

Jesus himself is the word of God who have sent us. The heavenly manna the word of God gives us life and healing. He who loves Jesus will keep his word and commandments as Jesus is the only way the truth and the life he who listen to his word will not die even if we die we still have life. This is God 's promise to all of us

Well I 'd like to know if in the original greek document this verse is an order or a statement. Is it an order to examin the scriptures or is Jesus commenting about a jew habit of reading the scripture in search of everlastin life?

Faith, trust and belief in Jesus Christ is imperative. He was God in the flesh. John 1:1...also refer to Jesus ' conversation with Nicodemus John 3:16.
  • Evangelist Nicola on John 5 - 9 years ago
We can hope in the fact that Jesus knows where we are, the things that holds us captive and makes us impotent. When He shows up in our situation in His love and great mercy we can expect wholesome healing, restoration and transformation. We need not worry that we have no helper, because Jesus is able. Glory to God.

Hello Missionary G. Simmons and Richard Buabeng I would like to add to my comment. When Jesus answered Philip telling him in short he was the Father then one can deduce that the Father 's name is Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost name is Jesus Christ also, John 14 26.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on John 5 - 9 years ago
Hello Missionary G. Simmons and Richard Buabeng I understand what you saying, but there is just one thing, when Jesus Christ stated that he came in his Father s name, he truly meant he came in his Father s name. He stated that, John 10 30 I and my father are one . Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. It is a mystery but it is the truth. 1 Timothy 3 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1 John 5 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost and these three are one . When Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, Jesus told him that he was the Father, John 14 8 and 9.

Richard Buabeng 's comment clarified the statement at best. Thanks you for wisdom.

This verse shows the transition, from Adam sin death to Jesus righteousness Life but the linking object is Grace through faith saving faith .
  • Justin on John 5:29 - 10 years ago
While translating John 5 29 to "And shall come forth they who have done good, in the resurrection of the just and they who have done evil, in the resurrection of the unjust. " Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon had a vision about heaven. This can be found in Doctrine and Covenants Section 76.
  • Richard Buabeng on John 5:43 - 10 years ago
To "Come in the name of a Higher Person " refers to the delegate authority reposed on someone to perform a particular duty or to act on the behalf of the that 'Higher Person. It does not ncessarily mean coming in the name as in RICHARD OR JOHN, But rather the proxy power given to the person perform some or act for SOMEONE and not on his own behalf. It means all that the person says or does within the set period are words or action for the One that sent that person. So Christ is referring to the authority not the literal 'name '.

Marilyn myers 's John Chapter 5 comment about verse 4 I believe it was a good angel, as someone was healed after the angel troubled the water!

Winston 's John Chapter 5 comment I suppose you are referring mostly to the verses 17 onward of this chapter, which made you go back to see the creation of the world. In Genesis 1 says 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said Let there be light and there was light. The verb SAID is the Word which came out of the mouth of God in Greek it is LOGOS which means Word If you read again the first three verses carefully, you will notice that God, the Spirit and the Word were there from the beginning working harmoniously together as ONE. Also notice what it says in verse 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. It says LET US make....which proves that the Word, that is Jesus was there from the beginning with the Father GOD See also John 1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by Him and without Him was not any thing made that was made. So, There was one Creation from the beginning from GOD and Jesus , who is the Word as John says too.
  • Winston on John 5 - 10 years ago
I look at this verse and look back at the creation of the world. Jesus the word made the universe, does this also mean that God the Father has made a universe also. The word does what he sees the Father do.
  • Moffatt on John 5 - 10 years ago
I believe that the whole conclusion of chapter 5 is to believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we shall be save.. if we believe on Him, we are going to do exactly what He says, if we fall short we all do that 's when we go to our High Priest which is Christ Jesus and confess our sins and ask Him for mercy and forgiveness. He will not turn us away because that 's reason He died for us to reconcile us back to His Father. i thank Him

The downfall of mankind in the genesis had opened doors ways for darkness to trap the lives of believers in Christ but since jesus is the word that we hear and thus ours our resurrection from our limitations ie graves in life.stay blessed in jesus name
  • Joseph Black on John 5 - 10 years ago
I disagree with bathshuwahwa Ariel 's comments... I have we have been forgiven of ALL of our sins...past...present and future... If Yahshua died for our sins he did not leave any out...we live in the dispensation of Grace...we walk in our Love and keep the laws as best we can...we only need to believe!!!!

VERSE 17 IS SAYING THAT WHEN MY FATHER TELL ME TO SOMETHING I WILL OBEY HIM, THIS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE FOR ALL OF US WHEN GOD SAY DO IT JUST DO NO MATTER WHAT DAY IT IS OR WHOSE AROUND DO IT.
  • Agnes kimbrough on John 5:8 - 10 years ago
Had a vision that God said this to me
  • Bathshuwayah Ariel on John 5:43 - 10 years ago
This verse implies two things 1. Coming in Father 's name literally e.g. The son of a Mr. Winston will definitely be John Winston! Yahweh is the Father 's name , and Yahshua is the Son come in the family name 'Yah '. Yahshua came in His Father 's name Yahweh and Christianity rejected Him for another who is none other than Jesus! 2. Yahshua came in the authority of His Father, Yahweh. The Father sent Him not to abolish the laws as Christendom suggests, because only the Father has the authority to do away with the laws He made them, for our good, but to die for our sins and pay the ransom with His precious blood. Only the Father can give the go ahead order or the authority to perform such a tremendous task.

receiving honour one of another means getting the things one needed in life by people around him and that makes the person to believe more of the people than trusting in the Lord.

  • Olabode on John 5:24 - 10 years ago
I am very sorry for repeating the same comment. The last word should be from death to life not from life to death.
  • Olabode on John 5:24 - 10 years ago
Despite uncountable miracles, teachings, healing, deliverance, etc Jesus performed, some people did not believe in Him, even people in His home town. When He was teaching, some did not believe that He was sent by God despite the repetitions He that sent me . So, whosoever that believes in His teaching and put all what he taught and heard about Him into practice and convinced personally that He was sent by God such person will have everlasting life, shall not be condemned he will pass from death to life.

This verse says a lot ! First I must hear God 's word ! Then I believe what I hear to believe is to commit to in Jesus that God sent into the world ! I shall obtain everlasting life and I shall not come into condemnation but I have passed from death unto life ! Praise God I 'm Saved
