God said it I believe it, that settles it!
  • HUH!?! on John 5 - 6 years ago
Rev Autrey up there is wrong. They are not divided BY NAME. This is false doctrine.
They are NOT the same person. The FATHER is the FATHER. The Son is the Son.
There are PLENTY of scriptures that tell you this. Christ is not praying to HIMSELF.
The SON... does what the FATHER tells him to do. Challenge falsehoods people!!!
Don't NOT let falsehoods be told.
  • Brianna vs. 4 on John 5 - 6 years ago
Research works shows that vs. 4 is not in the original texts, but is folklore.

Scholars who make a career of comparing manuscripts (“textual critics” and “paleographers”) have discovered that in roughly two dozen manuscripts scribes put asterisk marks at the verse to warn the next scribe who would copy the manuscript that the verse was likely not original.
  • Rev. Autrey on John 5 - 6 years ago
The words "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not" will only make sense if understand that Jesus and the Father are not two separate persons, but two names for the same God. It' the way God speaks of himself. See with God it's not the dividing of himself into two parts; it's name recognition. That is, the Father is God's other name. But Jesus is the name God speaks to us by.
  • RayJay on John 5 - 6 years ago
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
  • Peggy on John 5 - 6 years ago
John 5 v 40: And ye will not come to me that ye may have life---just read this and must have read it many times in my life but it touched me this morning: it is me not going to the Lord, so when I wonder why so much hurting things happen to me, I need to go to the Lord always
  • A disciple on John 5 - 6 years ago
"But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." Was it really the "breaking of the Sabbath" or even that as they supposed a mere man had "made himself equal to God?" NO But they rage against the conviction of the Truth.
  • Servant of God on John 5 - 6 years ago
If he believe not Moses writing, how shall he believe Jesus, for he said,I will send someone like unto me. Jesus wasn't on earth to teach something new, on his own behalf but to reenforced what had already been written. The law is the law of God written by Moses and reaffirmed by Jesus. Don't get above your raising, as they say in the south. The law of God is not abolished-carved in stone
  • Eutychus on John 5 - 6 years ago
"Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath," Yes, Jesus, who never sinned, broke the Sabbath. But WHEN he broke the Sabbath, it was no longer the law, "For all the prophets and the law prophesied UNTIL JOHN." Matt 11:13, and, "The law and the prophets WERE UNTIL JOHN"... Luke 16:16. The law spoke only until John the Baptist. No sin then, to break it.
  • Tim on John 5 - 6 years ago
I see the pool in 5:7 as a type of the Old Testament Law, where you have to work to get in. And Jesus healing the man as a picture of the New Testament, saved by grace not our works. And then after he is healed he walks, equals obedience to the Lord. .
  • Cathryn on John 5 - 7 years ago

  • A disciple on John 5 - 7 years ago
"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice," John 5:28 In context to the entire testimony which the Lord Jesus here declares to the Jews, who are opposing and contradicting Him with their wicked and insubordinate minds of unbelief He expounds to them how that "the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father:" as it is written also in the second Psalm, "Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion...KISS THE SON, LEST HE BE ANGRY, AND YOU PERISH FROM THE WAY WHEN HIS WRATH IS KINDLED BUT A LITTLE!" A sad song says, "Don't they know its the end of the world, 'cause you don't love me anymore!" The enemies of the LORD should have submitted themselves to Him, and so that there time would have endured for ever but so soon they shall be awakened from their dream to the nightmare of an eternity that God doesn't love them anymore, and has said Goodbye!
  • Lilian on John 5 - 7 years ago

John, that's great that you love reading Gods Word. Understandeth what thou readest?
    Read Acts 8:30-38
May God richly bless you if you obey his commands.
  • John on John 5 - 7 years ago
i love reading the the bible.
  • A disciple on John 5 - 7 years ago
Ray; Do you think the Holy Spirit is going to use a dirty vessel to pour the Living Water through? PAUL DID NOT STILL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SIN! "Whom the Son sets free is REALLY free." Reality is "Sin SHALL NO LONGER HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU." After you have been set free and released from jail, you're no longer in jail! Why would anyone think they're still locked up, after they've been released?
  • Ray321 on John 5 - 7 years ago
John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. Jesus told the man that had infirmity 38 years on the bed to rise up sin no more. The man sin was hurting him. Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Paul still had a problem with sin.
  • A disciple on John 5 - 7 years ago
The Divinity of the Son of God is a fact mentioned throughout the Scriptures, from Moses to David and all the Prophets; and confirmed by the Apostles and multitudes of Believers ever since. But then comes a little man with a mouth, thinking he can simply deny it all! In John 5 here are a number of statements from the Lord Himself, declaring His Divine Authority and equality with the Father.
  • Bruce on John 5 - 7 years ago
Andrew: Why are you repeating my Post?
  • Evangelist Andrew Kelly on John 5 - 7 years ago
Bruce: Jesus had his own will as he did not want to go to the cross, he knew he had to obey God his Father. Jesus felt pain, hungered, slept, ate, drank etc. Jesus knew it was going to be painful and wanted that portion of his life to pass by him. He knew that his mission was to fulfill his Father's will. Luke 22:41-44
  • Bruce on John 5 - 7 years ago
Andrew: When I First Read Your Post I was Shocked but I Read it a few more times. The word weakling was ??? Strong. The Book of John 5-20 show The Son and The Father as separate:Christ was sent by The Father,
Christ had His Own Will, but done The Fathers. The Son comes in The Glory of His Father. Matthew 16:27. I hope to See more of Your Post. Pray for Those Who are Puffed-up in their Pride.
  • A disciple on John 5 - 7 years ago
Andrew; Its always amazing to me at what gall some have; so easily to blaspheme the Lord Jesus! While pretending religion, you take an opportunity to give your mouth to the devil and say such a thing about Him who is above all heavens and all the earth and to whom every knee shall bow! I am disgusted by the casual uncleanness and easy kind of "spurious" Christianity that comes out of the churches!
  • Andrew Kelly on John 5 - 7 years ago
John 5 Jesus tells us a separation between his Father and himself. Jesus was a weakling and can do nothing by himself unless he had the spirit of God his Father in him.

John 5:19] Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

  • A disciple on John 5 - 7 years ago
Insight; Numbers 12:8 "With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?" Deuteronomy 34:10-12 Moses came not to the son's of Israel in his own name; but in the Name of I AM..."TELL THEM, I AM HATH SENT ME UNTO YOU." Moses was the meekest man on earth!
  • Insight777 on John 5 - 7 years ago
V43 Moses came in his own name and was received, honored by the approval of his followers.
Moses accuses people with his own made up laws that are not from God, that is why Jesus does not accuse them of breaking those laws. Moses wrote that the truth comes from God. Jesus IS truth from God but followers of Moses do not believe it, following tradition as truth instead.
  • Sondra on John 5 - 7 years ago
What touched my heart is that Jesus is the one who came to the lame man the lame man did not come to Jesus. Praise God that Jesus came not just 2000 years ago and not just to the lame man but he still comes
  • Lu277 on John 5 - 7 years ago
Insight777Circumicised; John 5: 5-6 Here a man was chronically ill, Jesus said to him"wilt thou be made whole?" He healed him on the Sabbath day. The Jews did not like it when Jesus healed people on the Sabbath day. Now let's continue to John 7.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on John 5 - 7 years ago
In verse 23, Jesus gave the kernel of what He desires of Christians: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him." May we all honour our Redeemer Jesus by staying at the centre of His will. We need to be washed in His sin-cleansing Blood and keep our salvation current.
