I completely agree that God does not change, and neither does His word. It is man who has changed God's word and that is what I mean when I say that the tongues that are being taught today are not the tongues of the bible.
The first mention of people receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues is in Acts Chapter 2. But the tongues they were speaking were actual known languages, not the babbling sounds that people are uttering today when they "speak in tongues."
We know that the apostles when they spoke in tongues in Acts Chapter 2 that they were speaking in known languages because those that heard them understood them clearly. They didn't need anyone to interpret because they understood the tongues (languages) that were being spoken to them. The apostles were speaking in the exact dialect of those that were there listening.
The apostles didn't know the languages. But God gave them that ability to speak those various languages in order for them to not only preach the gospel message to those who had come from various places, but to show them that what they were hearing had to be from God because they knew that the apostles had no way of knowing how to speak their language so perfectly. It was a sign to those who heard them speak. The apostles were in compliance with 1 Corinthians 14:22. I wish churches today would do the same.
As far as "tongues" goes, I don't see any resemblance in what's going on in the church today with what was taking place in the early church when the Holy Spirit first came.
God gave Paul the ability to speak in tongues (known languages) more than others as you mentioned. But maybe the reason for that was because God sent Paul to many places to preach the gospel, and he needed the ability to speak in various languages.
Paul never placed very much emphasis on speaking in tongues (languages), but rather that men would prophesy, meaning that they would speak forth the word of God in order to build up the church.
You say the tongues that are being taught today are different than the tongues taught in the Bible. God is the same yesterday today and forever and so is his word. Paul Said he rather speak a language that would Edify the church than speak in tongues but he also said he spoke in tongues more than anyone.
I also do not agree that everyone who received the Holy Spirit spoke in tongues. As Spencer mentioned, Paul asks the question "Do all speak in tongues?" And in the Greek text, it expects the negative answer no. Paul is referring to believers, those who have received the Holy Spirit. Not all spoke in tongues.
Your question is "How do modern pastors omit Acts 2:4?" No pastor should have the right to omit that verse. But when I look at the verses that follow and see what actually was taking place, it's easy to conclude that the tongues that are being taught in the church today are not the tongues that the bible teaches. In Acts 2:4, the "all" is referring to the apostles that were told to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit, not every believer.
The remnant of the Circumcision that were turned from unbelief to Faith in Jesus Christ, as a witness to each other and even for the Gentiles that the power of God to cover sin in Jesus Christ death and resurrection was true. Together those of the Circumcision when they spoke in tongues now by Faith, groaned in understanding of how God led them from darkness to the light of the new Covenant. The Gentile's faith began after this understanding was known first to the Jews. This faith was grafted onto broken branches by those who would not. Our understanding as ones who were grafted into adoption by the Father is mercy and our answer is more clear in our voice that other Gentiles can understand. Thank you Jesus. Amen.

Hello, there's an arrow at the bottom-right after the chapter to click on to go to the next chapter. You can also navigate to any chapter using the top navigation. God bless...
When I opened the book of Joshua, the first 18 verses of Ch 1 were displayed. After reading them I tried to read further: from v 19 onward. I could not figure out how to go further. Please let me know if you can read all the verses from this site. Thanks.
If not, I will go back to the paper copy of my Bible, and use this site only to look up particular verses or phrases.
Joshua had been faithful serving God under Moses, and God foreknew and planned for him to be a model / type / picture of the future Christ; in fact his name means salvation. He led Israel through the conquest of promised land, which was a picture of the life of a believer after salvation.
"Be strong and of a good courage"- If you look throughout the bible, it always comes up!
Like in Deuteronomy 31:6=Be strong and of good courage and in Daniel 10:19= And he said...be strong and of good courage." And you can find it in other places throughout the bible.
so if it isnt already obvious !BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE (especially with the corona virus going around) Who needs hand sanitizer when I have Christ?
Time or The-Clock-of-Jehovah GOD required Moses to rest. We also should be conscious of Time or The-Clock-of-GOD as it relate to our personal life because any minute of any hour GOD can require us to rest or be ready to assume leadership as Joshua was given the responsibility of leadership. Leadership of at least 1 me,I, myself.
It has been over 10 years Ruben since I started reading the KJV and I Thank God that His Truth was not changed in it But haveing read other Translations I do realise why some Christians become confused but not all Translation error was meant to deceive but some was and still is in Cult Translations even though one of their founders used the KJV but False Teachers changed it. God Bless You -Annie.

Can you be sure your have been born again?
Can you prove to Me I'm wrong?
You're right, God's the same and his word is the same, "Whats being taught is different"
This has recently been an ongoing topic on the site, and one that often comes up.
How about you give us your take.
Tell me what denomination ever speaks in tongues.

Not everyone in the New testament.
Read 1st Corinthians ch12 and ch 13.
Thanks. God bless you

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
That said , Jehovah has no beginning nor ending. The Holy Spirit always was.
The Son of God, Jesus Christ, however; was born of a virgin - Matthew 1:18

God only wise, and great, and strong,
Hath made the orbs to run their race:
Knowledge and might to God belong,
Honor, and majesty, and praise
And as we do that and Keep his word in our hearts as part of our daily life. He will make our ways prosperous and we will have good success.
