With God's help and guidance, Joshua fulfilled his purpose by leading Israel into Canaan and settling them in the promised land, as God commanded. As he left he admonished them to choose whom they will serve and remined them of the consequences of their choice.

My brother and sisters in Christ Jesus, Its nice the life story of Joshua. He is only assistant and follower of Moses, but his hearth and mind is defecated to serve Moses and his almighty God. He don't know how to lead and protect the people but according to the bible Moses gave him the power to continued his mission given by our almighty God and his purposed nothing is impossible will domed.

"If you know these things, happy are you if you do them."God gives us commandments to live by and He expects obedience from the heart, as good and beloved children. Disobedience, selfishness and sinning against one's conscience, against one's God, against one's neighbor; is not a health issue, but a moral issue. "If you do right, won't you be accepted? but if you do not right, sin is at the door."

"Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good." It is the LORD's prerogative who is to be saved, and who shall serve Him; and He does not accept hypocrisy, lip-service or insincerity.

"..Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time..and they served other gods. And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan.." All Nations today are the children of Noah's sons, and of the new world after the flood; but only a small remnant are called of God out, chosen and faithful.
  • Brian on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a CHOSEN generation...that ye should shew forth the praises of him WHO HATH CALLED YOU out of darkness..." We are a CHOSEN PEOPLE not a CHOOSING PEOPLE. NONE OF US EVER WOULD if it were up to us. Psalm 14:2-3 "The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God...there is none that doeth good, no, not one."
  • A disciple on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
When did the LORD ever say to the people, "OH, PLEASE ACCEPT ME!" ??? The word from the beginning has been, "What have you done? Have you done what I commanded you NOT to do?" The Spirit is sent to convict people of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; s that the people should repent and turn to God; NEVER that they should "accept" Him! Sin makes us unfit for the presence of God. We need Him!

There's no specific or magical word that brings Salvation! The Lord Looks at The Heart. When The Father Tugs on Your Heart, You can ask Forgiveness. You will be Washed by The Blood of The Lamb. The Holy Ghost will move in, You will be Changed. You will Know. Impossible not to!!! You can say I Accepted Jesus as My Savior. Have you accepted Him as Savior? John 6:44,Mark1:8, 2Corinthians 5:17
  • A disciple on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
Dear Charlie; You may have misunderstood: I was talking about the term, "Accept Jesus;" which IS NOT ANYWHERE IN THE BIBLE! The proper word is Repent of your sins, and Believe in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour! WE do not accept God! Excuse me! Jesus isn't some hobo standing at our back door waiting for a plate of beans, of OUR acceptance! We are the ones who need acceptance, not the Lord Jesus!
  • Preacher Charlie Chandler on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
Wrong so called disciple!I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the FATHER but by me.John14:6.You have to come to the FATHER through JESUS.The drawing of the FATHER He spoke if in John6:44 is the convicting power of the SPIRIT John16:8 And when He is come He will reprove the world of sin.Peter said in 1Peter 1:2 Foreknowledge if FATHER sanctify of SPIRIT and the Blood ofJESUS.

This book has help me in different ways by letting me know that the gods our fore father serve are not going to help me but God our heavenly father if we trust in him and do the rite thing the promise land is ours and for the statement as for me and my family we will save the lord Amen
  • A disciple on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
No man comes to Jesus, unless the Father draw him! It is commonly taught, that we are to accept Jesus, and ask Him into our lives: but this is a very gross ignorance and error. God accepts us for Jesus' sake, after He has convicted us and led us to repentance. The other part of that mystery is how God judges our hearts, and whether we may be forgiven; in that He finds us to be of the truth or not.

Irene 123:they didnt specify exactly everything they did BUT we do know there were Kings aka Pharoahs and they didn't believe in GOD,when NOAH tried to warn the people of the flood they laughed at him and mocked him, called him names, what ever these people were doing had absolutely nothing to do with GOD,so everything but that was going on,Only HE knows how to believe in futures,he is ALMIGHTY GOD.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
Mission accomplished by Joshua. The children of Israel gave him their pledge to serve no other god beside God Almighty. In their tradition, they will soon renege on this pledge and reap its dire consequences. May God give us the grace to avoid going back to our sins.

As for me and my house their is only one and only one God. Praise our lord Jesus Christ
  • Katie Early on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
I have to make a decision whom I choose to serve. Nobody can make that decision for me. The Lord has made us free will agents He will never override our will. Therefore, we can choose Christ who has given us life or we can choose the way of the world which leads to eternal death
  • Librarygal143 on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
One of my favorite verses. The picture also reminds me of the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost. I will definitely serve the Lord, me and my house, Amen!
  • Irene123 on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
" ..... your fathers served ..... on the other side of the flood ..... "; THAT - was a lo-o-ong time ago, even for Joshua. The Bible says nothing of the gods they served; just that we can pretty well know they were -eating, drinking and giving in marriage - or maybe they didn't marry, like so many today. Before the flood things had to have been somewhat different.

Who is the provider of life ? Is it not God ? Who is the savior which walked before the the host of the children of Israel to deliver them from the criminal hands of the wicked peoples ?It is the Lord. Why Joshua can ask to the children of Israel to choose whom they will serve ? Joshua was in doubt because of the incredulity of the children of Israel: they seemed unthankful unto God they had intent to leave God for doing idolatry works despite God has delivered them from mighty enemies. God is the provider of our life that is Him we must serve. Jesus has paid our debt on the cross that we might be free from biggest enemy Satan and the condemnation. If we choose not to serve God, Jesus, because of incredulity and ingratitude, we shall surly fall in the hands of the enemy who will destroy us. Remember what the Lord Jesus says in Matthew 12:43-45.

God is faithful to his words and promises that He will be with Joshua the same when he was with Moses. God bless Joshua and lead him not to be discourage nor dismayed for He is God who can protect them. These must be applied to our daily life that we must not be discourage or be dismayed coz Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us we only need to trust his will and obey his words .Praise u Jesus

Joshua has the best saying and that is to always serve the Lord,God made man the head of the house so he can lead and guide his family and i believe that ,that was how Joshua led his family to be God fearing and to love God first.
  • BSP on Joshua 24 - 7 years ago
Today we all face the same choice of which way we want to worship. Joshua and his household had already determined in their hearts to serve Jehovah God.
  • Larry Staub on Joshua 24 - 8 years ago
For anyone who has not made a choice ,I ask that you but taste and see that the LORD is good. The days are short so make the greatest choice that you could make this day.
  • Bishop Chris Chinseu on Joshua 24 - 8 years ago
The power of knowing the power/mightiness/ability/greatness etc of the one you are serving, makes you to be couragesous/unshifted/unmoved/constant in the one trusting.
