    It just lets you know that if you do not accept the truth, you can not enter the gates of Heaven.

    I have a friend who is gay and I have spoken to him about it and he used Leviticus chapter 20 to justify his lifestyle. He claims that the laws handed down to Moses then do not apply today including verse 9 that says anyone who curses their father or mother should be put to death. I would really like some feed back so I can have another discussion with him. Thank you.

    The key word here is mankind . It does not mention man (singular). Mankind is a general term for "all humans"both male and female. It sounds to me like he doesn't want orgies.

    @ Martha Prinecss. i agree with you. the fact that God loves us all does not mean we must do what we love to do but we must do what He loves us to do. Remember He is God who does not contractdict Himself. He does not change,in other words if He says: if a man sleeps with another man is wrong. He won't wake up tomoro and say now its right. we must be careful not to do things which He consider them wrong and justify them as right.

    @ Anonymous...you are correct in that the Most High God loves us all equally, but that does not mean He agrees with the lifestyle we choose. Whether we choose to be promiscuous, commit adultery/fornication or choose a same sex partner it does not change God's law. Please read Romans chapter 1.
    Romans 1:24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
    26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

    What if they truly have found love for the same sex? Then what? God loves all equal regardless of the sin and the depths it may have on anyone. If God himself didn't want homosexuality or homosexuals then he wouldn't have put the first people to come up with this logic in their own minds. It takes two to tango and one to sin. But I'm seriously confused on the topic and need some words of wisdom.

    To be honest, this sounds like the laws you would put into place to grow a nation. If done right, you can keep inbreeding low, grow a strong moral community from certain blood lines, and have a way to make sure your population grows. At this time the Israelite were constantly at war and were always in trouble. They needed people. Men to fight, women to help in the fields and prepare the food, and children to do the chores. I could be misreading it, but seems God was just trying to create a large, strong, united community.

    We can pick our sides and positions and that is all well and good. But we cannot stop there. While we believe homosexuality is an abomination, those loved ones and friends need to repeatedly hear this from us. Remember that WE are placed in their lives to point this out - to point them to everlasting life with Christ. Do we have any fight left in us? Do we wish to SAVE them or to just pick a side? At the end time - our end time and theirs - the chasm will be too great, the separation too far to do anything about it. I am Michael and I call each of you into action. Fight as if you were saving someone's life; in fact you are saving their souls!

    It is what it is, after all, mankind tend to twist the Lord’s words to suit themselves to their own deceptive satisfaction. The Lord’s words are plain and simple to understand.
  • Bongani on Leviticus 20 - 11 years ago
    I love Jesus, and I want to grow in the lord.

    I have no problem in what it says in Leviticus. I think it boils down to where you put your final authority. I put my final authority in the King James Bible and trust solely in that. I know if I put it in myself, I’ll be in huge trouble. Trying to be a "good person" takes away from the ultimate sacrifice of my Lord Jesus Christ who paid with his life so that my sins are covered in His blood. The Bible says that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Hebrews 9:22.

    @E,
    Shall we send all the little blasphemous kids your way then?
  • Mas on Leviticus 20 - 11 years ago
    @E,
    You will never find that church, because putting children to death for cursing their parents is not Christian, it is rather of the Law of Moses, which Christ delivered us from, and it’s curse.
    God bless you.
  • E on Leviticus 20:9 - 11 years ago
    I search in vain for a church that is willing to put children to death for cursing their parents. Is there not a SINGLE CHRISTIAN church on this Earth!
  • CW on Leviticus 20:13 - 11 years ago
    Believe every word the bible says, Jesus came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it, so the Old Testament laws still hold true today, just like the New Testament. We have to take the bible as a whole, not just the parts we like.
  • Emily on Leviticus 20:13 - 11 years ago
    @Charles,
    Love how people pick and choose WHICH parts of the bible to follow and which parts not to. You say since it's an abomination to God then it should be to us... Ok then, are you saying that we are to judge just like God? 'Judge not'!!; I would also imagine that if you would follow it that closely and were so honorable you would honor thy father or mother (as the commandment says) if they were abusing you and were drug addicts and gave you drugs? Right? I suppose you would still honor them with the faith that God would make it stop eventually/hopefully before you die or become addicted yourself or go to prison yourself and trust that he'd reward you in heaven....right?!! Is that what you would tell the children who were being abused by their parents? No, don't report it if your parents tell you not to tell anyone! Suffer through it! You must honor your mother and father!! Get over yourself! It's people like you and the strict Catholics that ruin it for others who just want to believe and want to be a good person but still fear they just aren't good enough! Judge not least ye be judged! You people are the most judgmental people out there!!! I know! Born and raised Catholic and am proud to consider myself a Recovering Catholic!

    The state of Washington made gay marriage and pot smoking legal. Leviticus 20:13. "If a man lies with a man as he would with a woman, they should both be stoned."
  • Roland on Leviticus 20:13 - 11 years ago
    Charles I hope you remember to follow all the rest. Are you wearing modern mixed textile clothing? Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together - Deutronomy 22:11, also repeated in Leviticus 19:19. Also do you eat shellfish? Prawns, Mussels, Scallops? Then yeah you're due a stoning. There's a reason we no longer follow the Old Testament laws because society evolved.
  • T on Leviticus 20:13 - 12 years ago
    Fornication is fornication, regardless of who is doing it, is it not?
    How quickly we pass judgment when it is not our place, but God's, to do so...
  • Samuel on Leviticus 20:13 - 12 years ago
    The Bible mentions homosexuality is forbidden. And that homosexuals are refereed as sodomites, not "gay".
  • Charles Ketchum on Leviticus 20:13 - 12 years ago
    Though this verse specifically was directed to the children of Israel, it applies universally to all of mankind. This act of man lying with man is an abomination to GOD which in turn should be an abomination to us also.
