Lu 2:11 City of David. A term applied to the village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of the greatest among Israel's kings; David's greater Son begins his earthly career in his ancestor's home. Seven hundred years before the prophet had predicted the Messiah's birth at Bethlehem (Mic 5:2). Christ the Lord. The Anointed Lord, for which the nation was so eagerly longing.
